Agreed. Seriously, who was going to give Jameer more than the MLE?

shooting is his strong point, so hopefully he picks it up, because if you take out march this is what he did

dec: 36%-0% (5 games)
jan: 39%-31%
feb: 40%-34%
april: 39%-37%

I wish I could keep my job, let alone get a ridiculous raise, while only performing well 20% of the time.

For all those Houston fans that thinks giving up anything we want is a bad idea, I just point out the last 20 years of the NBA draft with players taken between #12 and #30. I have compiled a list and only included the players that made an impact and became a star or stuck around for a long career. Now when looking at the list compare every player to Dwight Howard. This is the return we would get for Dwight. If I were Houston I would do anything just to get Dwight in a Rockets uniform and do all I could to keep him. PERIOD.

Here are Houston's Picks. Forget what they did summer league, because I have news for you, Ryan Humphrey dominated in summer league as a rookie. Steven Hunter looked like a GREAT PICK in summer league. Bo Outlaw used to make it an annual thing to go in to summer league and put up massive stats even as a NBA vet.

#12 – Jeremy Lamb
#14 - Patrick Patterson
#14 – Marcus Morris
#38 – Chandler Parsons
#16 – Royce White
#18 – Terrence Jones
#20 - Donatas Motiejūnas
#27 - JaJuan Johnson

These are the former first round picks the Rockets have. Their highest is #12 and lowest is #27. Since we are trying to rebuild if we trade Howard, I thought it would be smart to look at the draft over the last say 20 years as to who became a start from picks #12 through #30.

2011
#25 – Marshon Brooks (and this is a stretch)

2010
NOTHING

2009

#21 – Ryan Anderson
#22 – Courtney Lee
#24 – Serge Ibaka

2006
#13 – Thabo Sefolosha
#14 – Ronnie Brewer
#21 – Rajon Rondo
#24 – Kyle Lowry

2005
#17 – Danny Granger
#30 – David Lee

2004
#15 – Al Jefferson
#17 - Josh Smith
#18 – JR Smith
#20 – Jameer Nelson
#26 – Kevin Martin

2003
#12 – Nick Collison
#18 – David West
#27 – Kendrick Perkins

I've just come to realize that there are people on this board that will support and defend anyone involved with the Magic no matter what they do. They are the same people who supported Otis until the end, until they had to have the fact that he was garbage beaten into their minds.

I don't know how Hennigan will turn out but I know that he will receive the same biased support that Otis got regardless of how he does.

Problem I see is that people think Jameer's contract is ok because he either:

A) Wants to be here.

Counter: He DIDN'T want to be here. He opted out! ...and specifically said that he would look for his best opportunity and look out for himself.

B) Will be a good mentor for the young guys.

Counter: Who did Jameer EVER mentor? Is there a player who we've had who you'd say that Jameer helped out and made him the good player he is today? Hell no.

C) Keep talking like it's a 2 year contract.

Counter: It's 3 years. Even if it's partially guaranteed, we still take a cap penalty by letting him go. Please stop ignoring that. ...and every time you talk about how great a 2 year contract it is, the more you make it look like you agree that a shorter contract is better for him.

D) Suggesting that it was needed in order for us to hit the cap floor.

Counter: There are other ways to reach your cap floor without handcuffing your cap flexibility long term.

Chris Broussard ‏@Chris_Broussard
Magic telling rival execs they may not trade D12. Are they serious or bluffing? Story up on http://espn.com

The Orlando Magic have told rival executives that they might not trade Dwight Howard after all, according to league sources.

An executive who has had discussions with the Magic regarding Howard said Orlando only will trade the star center in a deal that is great for the franchise. The executive said this has been Orlando's stance for the past "week or so."

Another executive who has talked with Orlando said he thinks the Magic may start the season with Howard and wait until the February trade deadline to move him.

Each executive left the door open for posturing, noting that the Magic may be bluffing in hopes of coaxing better offers out of opposing teams. But the overriding sense is that Howard may not be moved for weeks, if not months.

The Los Angeles Lakers and Houston Rockets both covet Howard, but each team has come away from trade discussions thinking the Magic -- at least for now -- are not interested in trading the six-time All-Star, according to sources.

Howard has been steadfast in his desire to be traded since the end of last season, telling new Magic general manager Rob Hennigan last month in their first face-to-face meeting that he wanted to be traded to the Brooklyn Nets.

From the Broussard article comments:
Heat fans saying Laker fans gonna cry so hard about this? Boo hoo we go from potentially having the best center to the 2nd best. Our life sucks. (sarcasm)
1 Minute Ago.antistratfordian.

true. the lakers are the team that needs howard the least. you will suck with either the #1 center or the #2 center, just like last year.
2 fans like this.

If we get Ellis for anything outside of D12, I'm down. But I'm almost certain any deal would require us taking back Gooden. And they also followed BBD. So they'd have to be included.

Anyone got a list or site that tells what 1st round picks are still unsigned this season? How many teams have not signed their first round picks yet?

Good. The CLE rumor for Varejao scared me.

Either our organization is totally f'd up and all the players know it, or Dwight is a terrible recruiter.

Laker Fan I come in peace. Just one question. If your gm keeps dwight until the feb deadline and trades him to Brooklyn, how will you feel magic fans?

I don't see Houston's rookies going much longer without signing contracts. If they sign with Houston, we'll know that Hennigan has told Houston that Dwight will start the season with Orlando.
