I'd rather have gotten Lamb and 1 other player.....

The only thing that I can think to save face of him now is if Hark blows up, or we get an amazing deal with that TLE

Magic complete coaching staff

Brian Schmitz Orlando Sentinel 1:00 p.m. EST, August 30, 2012

New Magic head coach Jacque Vaughn has added assistants Laron Profit and Luke Stuckey, completing his coaching staff.

The Magic also announced that Gordon Chiesa has been named special consultant to the head coach.

Profit and Stuckey also will be involved in player development.

Chiesa figures to be Vaughn's guru of sorts. He has vast experience as an NBA assistant with the Memphis Grizzlies and Utah Jazz. He also has spent time as a college head coach at Providence and at Manhattan.

New Orleans Hornets assistant coach James Borrego, Houston Rockets assistant coach Brett Gunning and Golden State Warriors assistant coach Wes Unseld Jr. had been previously hired.

Unseld has spent the last seven seasons as an NBA assistant coach. Before his one-year stint with the Warriors, he served six seasons as an assistant with the Washington Wizards and several years before that as a Wizards advance scout.

Gunning completed his first season as an NBA assistant coach last year. Before that, he worked as the Rockets' director of player development and as an assistant coach at Villanova and Hofstra.

Borrego worked with the San Antonio Spurs, as did Vaughn and Magic general manager Rob Hennigan. Borrego started with the Spurs in 2003 as the team's assistant video coordinator. In 2010, the Hornets hired him as an assistant coach.

The Magic are set to open training camp Oct. 1 at Amway Center.

Harrington's last 2 years are unguaranteed. That makes him more attractive now than it ever was before. You get that right?

You 2 are clowing this place up.

I could say you are clowning this place up too couldn't I?

You don't know if the deal will be good until we see what we get in return. Obviously.

I am just stating what I think it will take to consider the deal a good one. Which is also obvious....Harkless has to develop into a great player, we need to use that huge TLE to our advantage, and we need to get something good in return for Al.

Simply stating those things need to happen, which I think they will.

The offloading part was true though, no one would take Al the last few years, until we came a long. Nothing wrong with that fact if we end up getting goods in return.

Quit being so anal....opinions are allowed last I checked....

If you think having $3.5 million in 2013/14 and $3.8 mil in 2014/15 count AGAINST the cap to be more attractive now than it was ever was before. You get that right?

That sure helps this team sign free agents, doesn't it.

Not only did they accept late 1st round "Future" picks, the Magic couldn't even get decent expirings for Dwight. But, Henny took on "Bad" contracts. Could be an Otis move to me. But, I think Henny has something in mind. We will see. . .

No. The steps are:

1) Denial
2) Rage
3) Apathy
4) Giving up

I am beginning the Apathy point, but every once in a while, rage rears its ugly head. Eventually, I will just give up. But, after 20 years of vested time, I can't imagine moving any quicker.

"Everyone knows" ..

Well apparently I don't know, cause as far as I know Harrington was quite productive and was a very good player off the bench last season. Denver wasn't desperate to get rid of him, and we certainly won't have to pay for a team to take him. I'm sure there will be some contenders interested in trading for him.

Sources near the Magic deny that Al Harrington was a throw-in in the Dwight Howard trade. There is a belief that Al could be a good locker room influence on Orlando’s cast of young bigs and that’s likely true to start the season. However, at the trade deadline you can bet that the Magic are going to try and off-load Harrington on a playoff team and try to dump the remaining years on his contract.

Harrington is a serviceable player and his deal isn’t crazy, so finding a taker for him might cost the Magic a draft pick, but given how many the Magic are sitting on going forward, offloading his contract money might be more important than a low level pick.

Harrington likely starts the season in Orlando, but in February he’s likely somewhere else.

hopefully he gets traded, i have zero interest in watching him

From ESPN:
Magic round out coaching staff

New Orlando Magic coach Jacque Vaughn has completed his staff, with the addition of six new assistants.

Vaughn and general manager Rob Hennigan announced Thursday that the team hired James Borrego, Wes Unseld Jr. and Brett Gunning to serve as Vaughn's main assistants. Laron Profit and Luke Stuckey will lead player development, and Gordon Chiesa was hired as a special consultant to Vaughn.

Borrego spent the past two seasons as an assistant in New Orleans. Unseld was a Golden State assistant last season after a stint as a Washington assistant. Gunning served several roles with Houston the past four years.

Profit played four seasons in the NBA and Stuckey coached high school basketball in California the last four years.

The Magic open training camp on Oct. 1.

Thank you jesus.....we're going to an uptempo style of play.....the style i've always wanted us to run since it suits us better.....hope Nelson buys in since he was so used to walking the ball up every play.....Hope Turk is in shape to run up and down.....like that Vaughn isn't going to be a micro manager and call every play down the floor like our former coach.....but a concern is that Nelson for the first time in a long time will actually have to play Floor General....which....i'm not sure about...this new sense of freedom might cause Nelson to try to do too much....either way i can't wait for things to get going man.....i'm missing basketball so much right now....i'm like a junkie that needs a fix right now lol

Nope. You still don't get it.

Let's say the Nuggets were first trying to trade Harrington 2 seasons ago. In that situation they would have to convince a team to take on 3 seasons of fully guaranteed salary BEFORE Harrington's waive clause/cap relief came into effect.

That is a totally different scenario than the one we now face. We only have him on the books for 1 year of fully guaranteed salary before his waive clause kicks in.

So to make the claim that the Nuggets have been trying to dump him all this time and couldn't but now have a taker is completely wack logic.

I think Ish will thrive in this new system. I also loved hearing that we're going to have more player movement in the offense. More read & react type plays.

Dammit Dwight, you couldn't just give this newness a chance before you bounced?

Yeah, I'm getting more and more excited every time a new story about us comes up. This season needs to start already! I hope our rookies and Vucevic get alot of playing time though.
