Seems a bit of a disconnect between "Cam sliding because of potentially horrendous medicals" and "great pick" but at that point you have to take him. Such an odd night for him. Hoping it works out for the kid though.

Ooooo. I like that analogy, fits nicely.

Disappointing night. The thing that surprises me the most is that they appear to be keeping both picks, so they will add a 19-year-old and 20-year-old to one of the youngest rosters in the league. It just doesn't feel like the team is any better going into next season. Anthony Black seems like another Isaac, Bamba, Okeke pick, and I don't understand Jett Howard at all with the talent remaining on the board.

I thought we may end up with Hendricks or Walker but we didn’t. That’s good news for JI.

It just goes to show that as a casual, we're nowhere near it. We just have to wait and see.

It goes to show how on the scouts level, we as fans are casuals. We're not in the gyms nor in the medical office to determine how healthy and reliable these players really are in real time. That's a reality that we as fans have to understand. We can't lead with our emotions because the player(s) we desire may not be whom our team picks during these events every year. Those reasosn helped humbled me a while back. I used to be one of those fans who would get fired up and upset if and when the Magic pick a player I didn't want at times. Don't get me wrong, the Magic have laid eggs on some players in the past. Sometimes, they may get it right. I simply learn to take the emotion out of it. Check by the categories where our weaknesses are and make a list of players who help improve our weaknesses and go from there. Keep the logistics on point. Keep the emotions out. That's how business works forever and always.

If you go by our draft picks over the last 23 years, it appears our scouts also might be casuals. Seriously, look it up, our draft history has been dreadful. Most players were either outright busts or injury prone. Over 23 years we've had maybe a handful of players that were serviceable or better that stayed healthy and played for us for an extended period of time.

Now we're hoping out 1st round pick guards can replace our recent 1st round pick guards. It's time we take a long hard look at our scouting methods and personnel because clearly we have room to improve.

It’s like this fan base is in a time loop. How many times have we tried and failed to turn a bad shooter into an above average one? It never happens.

Me too....he's the prospect i preferred the most out of the prospects in our range but we didn't pick him....and since i'm not a man fan i didn't just jump out the window when we passed him up....since they have way more information than we do....people just really raw right now...they will feel much better about this as the days pass....but me? i feel great about our picks these guys can help us

There was a chart about teams who "hit" on draft picks and who haven't over the last ~idk, a lot of years~, but Orlando was squarely in the middle aka average. It's not an exact science. 15th isn't dreadful to me, and all that matters is the last few years, where Wagner/Banchero/Cole are great picks in their specific roles, while Suggs has the potential to be an ultimate glue guy that everyone needs.

We are going to have to agree to disagree because I only see a spot up shooter.

that's fine cause i don't....but that's ok no matter who we pick i'm not a man fan....i'm going to root for them because they're on my team
