If anything we could trade him to a team under the salary cap for an expiring contract or 2nd round pick. Hedo would be the one I'd try to attach to a Dwight deal . Hedo and Doo Doo will be much harder to move than J-Rich or Big Baby

JRich is repped by Fegan....

Still don't understand , are we here to make all his clients happy or win a championship? We wanna clear cap room and J-Rich can easily be moved without Dwight being involved .

It's not so easy, but it's possible, IMO.

Rob already said that whatever D12 evolving D12 would send Jrich too, so i think Rob wants to trade Jrich ASAP. That's his next focus along with finding a HC.

Catching up on what has transpired in the past hour, I've got the utmost respect, admiration for Rob Hennigan. This guys is a boss. He knows exactly what he's doing. Him being new to the team, I wasn't sure what to expect from him. But after this masterful move to suspend trade talks, forcing the Nets to sign Lopez to a max, eliminating the Nets as an option for D12, forcing D12 to expand his list, preventing other teams from lowballing us, I have a lot of faith in Rob to do the right thing.

He seriously just played the media and the Nets.

Watch us hire Shaw, and watch D12 kiss and make up with the Magic. Wouldn't be surprised in the slightest.

Trust in Rob :wordyo:

We were the other team on Howard's list and we will have cap space next year and possibly in 2014. So basically Howard will leave us for the Mavs (and 30 million on the table) or stay and believe in Rob to build a team around him.

I understand that you are optimistic now since the Brooklyn deal fell through..but things are not that black and white.

He said they're still talking to the Nets, still talking trades and have not suspended any trade talk -- he clearly made a promise to Dwight to work in good faith to send him to his first choice as long as it's a good trade for the Magic.

So he's a stand-up guy and they did just that, while pursuing other trades too. Now he's saying we can't make it happen because the trade is not good for the Magic.

A) He's doing what he said he'd do for Dwight and making a legit attempt to satisfy Dwight and satisfy the Magic.

B) He's building trust and a personal relationship with Dwight because the Magic probably still hope to repair the relationship with him.

Sounds logical to me.

Sounds like B.S. to me. Howard can not be trusted. Howard could care less about Hennigan, the Magic, OR Orlando and the fans.

Where in this post did he say anything about Dwight? It was about Rob.

So if we keep him, he'll retire? He's gotta sign somewhere. If Atlanta and Dallas are the best destinations that he can sign as a free agent... I don't care how outlandish you think re-signing Dwight is, but a lot can happen to convince him to not go to those two spots. A team with a roster as talented as Brooklyn or L.A. would for sure get him to go there. But Atlanta and Dallas, we can compete with.

gotta give it to you. you have been saying things could change from the beginning. I still think they want to trade him, but you never know how things will go.

When you hear Hennigan talk, it seems the situation can change at any moment. He's not set on any plan with or without Dwight. He's exploring any option that is out there. Do I think Dwight is staying? No. I probably think it's more likely than a lot of you all though. But truth is, no one knows what's going on except for those involved in the talks. Like the Knicks fan was discussing, all this trade talk could have been just to show Dwight we're trying to make him happy. And if the options not there, maybe he'll appreciate that.

And I cannot say how big of a deal I think it was that last year, when the trade deadline was coming and Dwight being traded was becoming more of a reality, Dwight flinched and all of a sudden the Magic were in the driver's seat. I don't care how set you guys are that Dwight is gone based on Rudolph's twitter sources, or Woj and his sources, whoever the hell else. No one knows.

Yeh, don't forget ATL who now have his BFF and somebody he really wants to play with in JSmith. They also just got Lou Williams. His hometown. They will have enough cap space next summer to probably sign ANOTHER max-type guy as well....

Cuban has been pretty smart in all of this. He still has all the ability in the world to clear a TON of cap space for next summer to recruit Dwight AND one of his buddies to go play together in Dallas you know. Atlanta is doing similar things. Both could be very appealing spots for him. I think he needs to be traded, the risk is too large that he jumps ship.

you can't comment on magnitude of the risk without knowing the value of the reward coming to you in a trade.

Lopez needs to add a "no trade" clause in his contract before the talk of Howard to the Nets can officially die.

Of course you can. Now weighing the reward VS. the risk is a different story. Doesn't really affect the "risk" that he leaves though.

Howard's options are simple:

Sign with a team with cap space in '13 for less money
Sign with Orlando who will also have a ton of cap space for max money/max years

New Jersey will not have cap space, will not be an option. Dallas or Atlanta would compete against Orlando but will be able to offer less money/years. Orlando's trade assets start looking better summer '13 when Hedo and Duhon can be traded as expiring contracts or immediate cap relief options. Hennigan can quickly rebuild a contending core around Dwight without Dwight missing a beat. With a weak East this coming season Orlando can still contend in the interim, while having flexibility to retool quickly. I really like the future for a Dwight led Orlando Magic and I don't see why Dwight wouldn't either.

Because Dwight isn't the brightest of fellows. He also doesn't seem to be a fan of foresight (judging from his decision to waive his ETO if he really really wanted to go to Brooklyn....all he had to do was wait 2 months).

Didn't Rob say that he's not interested in Bropez at the Max? I heard he did in fact say that.

Return to Orlando Magic
