Don't think Dallas can trade their 2014 1st rounder. They already traded it away. Which means they can't trade their 2013 either since you can't trade consecutive 1sts.

i believe they traded their 2013 1st, which was top 20 protected. not sure if they traded 2014, or if that's a roll on deal.

and if they deal their pick on draft day AFTER they select, then they're not technically trading consecutive picks, they're trading draft rights - and then a pick.

Ok so I went to the Bucks forum to ask them about their salary situation. As you can imagine they were actually pretty kind since I did not ask a Tobias question. Anyway, I asked about trading Henson to shed salaries and one guy said something funny but true about the Bucks when it comes to trades and salaries... He said

"We are like a slot machine that always pays out"

Lol I never laughed so hard... Poor team gave us Tobias....ouch, now they have 3 guard free agents... Hate to see what their GM does this year. I thought Otis was bad, but their GM is definitely worse...unfortunately for them.

I'm sure Bulls fans would love it if they had a chance to beat the Heat and blew it because they didn't play a healthy D-Rose.

It's on a roll deal. OKC would've owned this year's pick if it was past the Top 20.

So Dallas has their pick this year. Should be pick #13.

So the terms move to next year (Top 20 protected until 2017). Can Dallas trade a 2014 1st if they already have terms worked out with another team for that pick? I'd assume they could trade it if it's inside the Top 20 right? That said, if we help them clear cap so they can afford 2 max players then we're not seeing them pick inside the Top 20 for a while. The 2014 1st would then go to OKC. Then if 2014 goes to OKC, 2015 can't be traded. 2016 would be the soonest we could realistically see the pick come to us.

2014 first round draft pick to Oklahoma City
Dallas' own 2014 first round draft pick to Oklahoma City via the L.A. Lakers and Houston (Top 20 protected in the 2014 NBA Draft, top 20 protected in 2015, top 20 protected in 2016, top 20 protected in 2017 and unprotected in the 2018 Draft). [Dallas - L.A. Lakers, 12/11/2011 and then Houston-L.A. Lakers, 3/15/2012 and then Houston-Oklahoma City, 10/27/2012]

http://basketball.realgm.com/nba/draft/ ... s/detailed

That Dallas scenario was a reach to begin with imo. The more and more I dig into it, the more it looks unrealistic.

that could be a deal worth doing. Dallas might be prepared to do that in preparation for signing Dwight/CP3, but if CP3 returns to LAC, or Houston is able to offer Dwight the chance to team up with Smith and Harden, then it might be enough to disrupt Dallas signing a big enough coup to propel them into the top 10 next year.

Yeah but you're missing the point. If Dallas gets 2 max players, then their pick won't be in the Top 20.

Houston does not have engh cap room to sign ONE Max free agent let alone TWO in Howard and Smith. Houston would need to shed about $3 million more to give Howard MAX money.

IF Howard and Smith want to play together, their best chance is with Dallas and with Dirk, provided Dallas shed the remaining bad contracts.

^^ lol nbadraft.net is a joke...it's not more than a bunch of random people putting a website together. They have no expert insider or anything, it's literally a bunch of nobodies that put together a website for fun.

Their NBA comparison for Deshawn Stevenson was Michael Jordan. Check it out.

That's what happens at this time of year on message boards. Most NBA fans don't have the time to watch a bunch of college tape so they make judgments based on 1 or 2 tournament games and these dumb draft profiles. Anyone who has seen these 3 play know they are 3 different guys.

not sure you are right about that. they are at about $37mil or so guaranteed, and they could easily trade out Asik/Robinson, which would free up another $11mil.

I'm just sayinnnnnnnnnnnnn

But if we could make a deal where we get Thomas Robinson from the rockets in an attempt for them to clear room, I am ALL for it.

I was a huge robinson fan last year after his season at Kansas. After he left the kings and got some PT he had some impressive games as well.

IMO he could be the muscle we need at the PF to help Vuc now low. We could very easily have one of the most athletic starting 5s in the NBA with something like

Beverly
McLemore
Harkless/Harris
Robinson
Vucci

or

Burke
Harkless
Harris
Robinson
Vucci

The rockets seem like the perfect team to trade with IMO

I can't imagine Houston shedding TRob's contract when they have so many other older players not in their long term plan they can shed.

Lin is also very tradable. Basically everyone not named Harden or Parsons (because he's a steal at his price) could be on the way out for cheap it is means the Rockets get Dwight + a second star of his choosing.

They still have a log jam at PF and IMO Dmont and Trob both have higher ceilings then anyone we have at the 4. I don't see why we couldn't grab one of them in a bigger deal not entirely focused on them.

I like dmont if we have a Noel at center......but not with Vucci.

Trob seems like a good guy to put next to a offensive minded center
