I don't care about Analysis. You should have seen all the bad analysis regarding Drummond's motor last year. I wouldn't be surprised if McLemore ends up having a great motor when all is said and done. I would draft him regardless what people think about his motor. That is the coaches job anyways to motivate players.

Chris Anderson has a high motor...Come on dude. I don't get why people reference things that cant be measured like "high motor" and "heart". I want the most talented player with the highest ceiling. Period. I dont care who it is.

Re: Official Speculation Thread (Pt. LV - NBA Draft Edition)
The reason I posted about McLemore is I'm genuinely intrigued by these reports. It just seems like an odd comment to make about a guy in a workout, that he doesn't have a high motor. Maybe I just don't understand what they do at a workout. I mean, you tell me Carter Williams is out of shape and couldn't finish the workout, that makes sense, that's real. But with Ben, it just sounds like posturing, what does it mean not to impress. Like why? He wasn't playing against any other players. I'm just trying to cut through the BS, which there is a ton of right now in the media.

Interesting proposal in a mock draft on SB Nation:
The Orlando Magic have traded Glen Davis, Arron Afflalo, and Andrew Nicholson for to the Brooklyn Nets in echange for Kris Humphries, MarShon Brooks, and the 22nd pick.

That **** would be DONE. Drop BOTH contracts for and expiring, a young SG ho can create and has potential to be a really good scorer AND the 22nd?
Nicholson is the only reason for pause.
A smart coach once said, "Potential just means you're not good enough yet." Playing on potential is like living on air: It's essential, but if thats all you have, you're eventually going to starve.

My thoughts exactly. Nicholson seems just a bit over the top. But something close to this would be nice. I'm ready to part ways with BBD and Afflalo. Maybe send Moore instead? Nets need a backup PG.

Just about every Analyst questioned Drummond about his "Motor." Thus, he slid all the way to Number 9 and had a terrific rookie season considering how raw he was. I watched quite a few Pistons games and I have to say, he was the energy guy every time he stepped on the court.
Thus, I don't believe what analysts say when it comes to Heart and Motor. Some players just don't appear to have a high motor because of their demeanor.

I agree, to me Ben comes across as super humble and shy. I wrote a post after watching his interview and you could easily see what people were talking about. He appears passive but it's not motor, it's just his personality right now. He's 19. Things change. We have a core of guys who work hard together (tobias, moe, etwaun, etc) and I don't see a problem once he's around all these young guys. That's a big plus I think for us taking Ben. He'll come in and there are a ton of young guys here that he doesn't need to defer to. He can build up his game and assertiveness as the season goes on, just like Harkless. Harkless was horrible early on, he would defer everything. Then JV just kept pushing him and forcing him to do stuff and now he's so much more improved.

lol? marshon is trash, humphries is trash, and the 22nd pick won't get us anything nice. so we give up a very valuable piece in affalalo, a promising rookie in nicholson and all we get back is trash and a late first?

7 months ago oladipo was a 2nd round pick with average skills, it's amazing what half a year can do, I wonder how mclemore would look with another 6 months in college? Let alone 2 years

I agree, Marshon hasn't impressed. We lose too much and gain too little.

So does Adam Morrison. Anderson has a ring because he rode Lebron's coat tails. Prior to that he didn't do anything. My point is having a high motor doesn't equal being the most talented. While Dipo is a very "active" player it doesn't necessarilly mean he's better than lets say McLemore or Burke.

An NBA scout evaluates point guard Trey Burke
http://www.orlandosentinel.com/sports/b ... 52174.post
Ryan Blake, the senior director of NBA scouting operations, offers his take on Michigan Wolverines point guard Trey Burke:
“You have a guy that some people say doesn’t have that elite athleticism. This is what other people are talking about. I think when you’re at the point guard position, you’ve got to have knowledge of the game. In the NBA, you’ve got to run the high pick-and-roll. You’ve got to have that vision. He’s got a high assist-to-turnover ratio. . . .
“You can look at all these analytics and statistics about Trey Burke, but you can’t measure his heart. But you know what he brings. He wants the ball at the end of the game. He’s not just going to score, but he’s going to try to find the right person. He likes to find the hot hand. . . .
“He’s a guy that can put up points. He’s actually a good out-of-area rebounder. He averages almost seven assists a game. He’s shooting almost 40 percent behind the arc and only taking 35 percent of his shots from deep. He’s a versatile player with guts who wants the glory.”

Kid looked amazing in HS too.
Just refreshed myself on all of his tapes as well and I am pretty intrigued by just how solid he was on D. I think if we take him at #2 we won't regret it. I feel like this WHOLE nonsense with the media and him not having that "it" factor is just more of his personality than his lack of assertiveness.
At KU it seemed like he never played out of the offense and had zero freedom. Even these HS tapes show him attacking the rim after a quick crossover and other moves.
I think he has all of that in him naturally and it will be showcased 100% in the NBA.

There is no relation in that tie. McLemore is his own player. In 2 years McLemore could improve a lot or a little. The reason why Oladipo improved is because of his own drive. It would be more appropriate to say "Look how far Oladipo came in the last 2 years.... it's a great sign of what will happen in the next 2 and more!"
You simply can't point to Oladipo's growth and apply it to every first year player in college last year. That's what you're trying to do, but it doesn't work that way. Each player has their own merit and situation.

Yeah, and I thought Darko would one day pick it up and that his problem was just his "demeanor." Sure, Drummond has proven a lot of analysts wrong, but you're going to pick one example and use that as a reason to discredit all analysts? Furthermore, did analysts make that comment about Drummond based on his workouts or based on his play during the season? If they didn't criticize his workouts, then his case isn't exactly comparable to McLemore's.
As far as how McLemore could be unimpressive for motor in a non-competitive workout, I'm sure they watch the quickness and sharpness with which he completes drills and moves between drills. If he's dogging it when there's no one to compete against then he may have internal motivation issues.

No, they are different kinds of players.
