Re: Markelle Fultz
Franz is a world champion, we know we can win with him right now. Lets surround him with shooters, its not that hard...
In recent interview TRoss said we have really good core with Wagner/Banchero/Carter. Even he knows it. We should start to build around them. Not making playoffs with guy like Franz will be really dissapointing.

My money is on Banchero going number 1 !

That's why I see Fultz playing more off guard at the 2 this season! With Black easing into the point guard duties with Fultz on the floor.
Fultz can show us all his Iso game this year!

And winner for worst idea of a year.
No jumpshot PG and no 3 ball SG, while playing PF without jumpshot and C without jumpshot.
it's 1954 again!
Start George Mikan!

If fultz perform as well as I expect this year, I could see black+Harris+ assets being traded for a quality SG

Would it then be fair to say that the opposite is possible if Fultz doesn’t?

Black will not be a positive player until the 2025/26 season. Let's please be realistic here.

League's average is 36%, how many of Magic players will reach that level, and how many of them will surpass it? Reach: Cole, Franz, Ingles, surpass: Harris on ultra conservative volument?
Fultz would be less of a problem if Magic's biggest project player for future, Banchero, isn't poor shooter. But he is. And his position and usage requires spacing from guards to give him more room to operate.
And-1
For perspective, last year Fultz has a eFG% of 53% and Banchero an eFG% 46%. A team's PG is not supposed to shoot better than their PF. Banchero was very inefficient last year.

You're right! We should trade Paolo and build around Fultz!

pepe's point is that Fultz would be OK if Banchero could shoot, not the other way around.

Re: Markelle Fultz
Kobe Bryant's efg was 477 his first season and 469 the next.
Paolo’s efg last season is a really good sign. When he improves it, he'll be a 25+ ppg player.

You have to surround your star players with complimentary guys that can hide their shortcomings and accentuate their strengths.
Fultz does neither of those things for Paolo or Franz. He also isn’t a guy you should be making roster decisions around, which is what you’ve been suggesting.
I’d rather Orlando have two guys in the back court that can play defense and shoot. Not only one that hides what Fultz doesn’t.

Very much looking forward to Pepe's response to that

Lol what?
Kobe was one of youngest players in nba history (third youngest ever i belive) and he naturally sucked as rookie (43,7% eFG).
His second season his eFG was 47%
and year after 48,2%
But in context of time:
nba league's average during his rookie year 49%
nba league's average during his sophmore year 47,8%
nba league's average during his third year 47%
So Kobe was average as sophmore and above average in third year. At age of 18, his eFG% was 5,3% below league's average.
Banchero had eFG of 46,5% . But now league average is 54,5%.
It's straight out crazy talk to say " Paolo's EFG last season is reall good sign" . What sign? He was 458th player by EFG amont 518 who even touched ball that season.
By far biggest weakness of his game as a rookie was efficiency. Even by rookie standards. NBA has sortable 31 rookies who they bothered to put in their stats. Banchero's eFG is 6th lowest among them.
He can be 25ppg scorer, he could be 25 scorer last year however he needs to take better shots

Banchero and Franz = Magic core
Rest of roster: replacable role players
Banchero's need to be more efficient as player- shooters
by default , 80% of current roster doesn't fit him, including Fultz

Has anyone done the math on what Paolo's efficiency would have been if he hadn't shot 3% from 3 that one month?

If Markelle is on the team this year, I would rather it be in limited minutes. Maybe in the 16-18 range.

We potentially have 3, so… yes.

Re: Markelle Fultz
Rookies are inefficient and this is a Fultz thread. Having a serious debate about a rookie's EFG is not actually a serious debate because LeBron and Durant and others were all inefficient as well.
