Nets getting Whitehead could be a steal for them. Imagine adding a 2nd Bridges to that team?

Regarding Howard, I think it's fine to just take your guy if you have put in the scouting work and truly believe he's your guy. Trading back sounds obvious in theory, but maybe there just wasn't anything there. Obviously nobody wanted Whitmore. At that point perhaps no one cared enough to move up.

Point is, it's fine, but now he needs to pan out or else you look silly.
11/18/2017 - I have officially disowned Nikola Vucevic and branded him a loser.

- Skal Labissiere was my guy in 2016 pre-trade. Whoops, but I still believe.
- Malik Monk was my guy in 2017. Whoops(?)
- Mo Bamba was my guy in 2018. TBD.

Just waiting for the inevitable 2nd round pick trade.

I will say this. Going with these kind of against the grain/logic picks puts the FO in a position where they can either gain or lose a lot of credit with the fanbase and media. If these picks look good early on, I won't question them as hard the next time they pull a pick that seems like a big reach.

Damn, Whitehead to the Nets at 22, I was hoping he'd end up with our 2nd round pick somehow. I did have him to the Nets in my mock draft (at 21 that time) :P So far I've had every prospects actually drafted so far in my top 30 mock draft.

I have a feeling he will be a baller.

Me too....he's the prospect i preferred the most out of the prospects in our range but we didn't pick him....and since i'm not a man fan i didn't just out the window when we passed him up....since they have way more information than we do....people just really raw right now...they will feel much better about this as the days pass....but me? i feel great about our picks these guys can help us

Nailed the raw part, and that is alright.

You can be fans of the team and have an instant reactions that aren't in immediate approval.

At the end of the day I know I will cheer AB and JH every game in summer league and watch as many games as possible on NBA LP.

Fortune Teller wrote:Disappointing night. The thing that surprises me the most is that they appear to be keeping both picks, so they will add a 19-year-old and 20-year-old to one of the youngest rosters in the league. It just doesn't feel like the team is any better going into next season. Anthony Black seems like another Isaac, Bamba, Okeke pick, and I don't understand Jett Howard at all with the talent remaining on the board.

I think there is this idea that the magic want to make the playoffs next year when honestly, they are indifferent to the idea.

Hoping for Brice now but don't think he makes it. Teams are certainly valuing shooting and BBIQ more these days. I thought I read that GG had some questionable character concerns.

If Nnaji slides to 36 he’d be a steal to get. Could even be a draft and stash.

If that's the case, and they're truly indifferent about it, then they should trade Fultz and give Black the keys to the car.

Because if making the playoffs doesn't matter, then get your highly touted rookie point guard those reps and live with the growing pains.

hollinger ranking and break down of black

5. Anthony Black, 19, 6-7 Fr. PG, Arkansas

I am possibly irrationally out over my skis here, but I love this guy. Black reminds me of Jason Kidd at times, a big, smart, defensively active guard who impacts winning in so many other areas that the lack of a jump shot becomes secondary. Black is also among the younger players in this cohort, with an early 2004 birthdate, and thus time is on his side when it comes to finding his stroke.

Black is a huge point guard who could potentially also play on the wing but moves his feet well enough on the perimeter that he can legitimately guard the one at the pro level. He combines that with some quick leaping, zipping off the ground to surprise shooters with shot contests and using verticality in the basket area very effectively.

Offensively, I’ve been a big fan of Black all year because he can handle, pass and make correct decisions. His handle can get a little wobbly at times, especially in his right hand, and he made too many turnovers overall, but some of that stems from his limited shooting forcing him to drive into the teeth of the defense.

Black has a slow release, a pronounced ball dip and seemingly not a ton of confidence in the entire enterprise, but we’re not talking about DeAndre Jordan here: Getting his shot to at least a 1-in-3 proposition in a two-year span shouldn’t be a massively daunting task.

If he can do that, his size, feet and IQ should more than take care of the rest and make him a fixture in the league for years.

I sincerely doubt they are indifferent to making the playoffs/play-in.
