Franz’s missed shots tonight were different than others. He was rushing everything and throwing shots up that were short and flat. I reckon Mobley got in his head after that game 5 block and so Franz was trying to not put his shots up too high to give Mobley a chance to block them, but he also wasn’t putting them up high enough to go in.

It's an opinion that he's 22????
He is playing his 3rd season and is turning 23 shortly. Compare him to most star players at this point of their career and tell me what you see.

Add Cole and WCJ to that list and that's the start of a good offseason.
Carter was pretty good this series. Given what he did I doubt he gets moved.
He's not a terrible player, just not the kind I prefer. A strong rim protector solves so many problems for any team, even more so for a young team.
How many of the elite teams have protection like that though. It's nice to have but it's overrated (IMO). Especially when it's about rotational defense/man defense in the 3 ball era.
Also on top of that their defense is already elite. So what's the point of adding a rim protector when your offense has major issues?

The Cavs biggest weakness this season was defending specifically SFs. They gave up the 7th-9th most pts to SF's depending on your sources for that data.
Franz had the favorable matchup all series. He had Max Strus guarding him this series and he looked so helpless and constantly had to hack
Yet he struggled so much on the road.
It's inexcusable.
All I can think of really is the Game 5 layup he took at the end of the game instead of hitting Paolo who was killing it all game and was open at 3
That was the series

We almost won a playoff series with a core of 3 players 22 or younger and despite our guards giving us barely any playmaking all series and the roster badly lacking in reliable 3 point shooting.
I don't get the doom and gloom. If we had someone Mike Conley - a reliable vet playmaker who can also shoot well from 3 - we would have won this series comfortably.

That level of ineptitude in a do or die game demands a complete reevaluation of a player.
We have no core, we have Paolo. Everyone else is expendable.
You are totally cringe.
No, Franz being the worst shooter in Game 7 history is cringe. 3/28 shooting from your #2 and #3 guys is cringe.
PB didn't shoot well either, it just wasn't as noticeable given how poorly others played. Nobody really played well, which is expected from a young team in a game 7. PB at least got to the line, which your top players need to do, so that's a plus.

Last season Suggs wad a bust, now he is a 40% three point shooter and NBA all defense. Give it time. Young players need time to develop.

We need to go find a second option this summer and let Franz fall in to a more defined role as a Swiss army knife for us.
He's looking like a Swiss army knife with all the tools removed.
Franz is amazing. Let’s not be idiots. I get everyone is upset.
Lets not forget his game 4 was a masterpiece. He was like 11-15 and had like 14 rebs, completely dominating. He was great on game 6. Its the whole body of work, not just one really bad game. He will learn from this, he has the right mindset and determination.

This flat out ridiculous to put Suggs in this. That guy busted his ass all series he had to guard Mitchell and chase garland around.
LOL. I’m one of his biggest fans I definitely understand his defensive impact but we cannot just give him a ridiculous contract because we love his effort. I would LOVE for him to be worth a max or near max contract but he’s not. We absolutely can’t lose him either. We just need to be smart about his, and Franz’, contracts.
I love Suggs and the magic do need him but can’t imagine giving a 3D player max money.

People walking away from this game like they didn’t know this roster is TERRIBLE on the road.
This is a team that lost to a Charlotte and Houston to round out the season likely costing them home court advantage.
Take a step off the ledge. These guys are young and nobody thought they’d be here. Yes Franz was atrocious today in all aspects. The FO needs to do their jobs now.

Listen, I'm not going to go too far with the Franz stuff and suggest he's not a core piece now. But if you're not seriously questioning whether he is a second or third option after this series, I don't know what to tell you.
He shot 19% from three after the All-Star break. We saw an entire year of a different player, this was not a one-off series.
Solely banking on internal development and Franz working on his shot all summer when he will be giving his best basketball to his national team again would be a disastrous bet for Weltman this summer. We've got to be strategically aggressive to improve.

The elite teams have elite players, we don't. That's why I say it helps young teams even more to have help behind them. If JI could stay healthy, and in the rotation, he could help out a lot there. Who knows what his future is.

I think it comes down to this. I have not critiqued the front office for not getting shooting or making aggressive moves up to this point because we were rebuilding but Paolo Franz and Suggs have kicked that door down. They need a guard who can start and settle down an offense and hit shots. I don’t want them to panic but I think they need to be aggressive.
Fine print disclaimer for Fultz:
I am high on Markelle Fultz. Yes I understand he is not perfect and needs to shoot more and better and turn the ball over less. I would really like to see him play one more year… and I did and he sucks time to move on.

Completely agree, this offseason will be major. If nothing is done I will be ok with storming the magic offices

You know why he didn’t shoot well right? Cleveland knew nobody else was a threat and packed the paint. He was playing 1v5 for most of the night.
