I am surprised there is not more discussion about the media-leaked report of Carter and Nelson for Paul. Firstly, that's a great deal for Orlando. But the part about a third team for Okafor confuses me. He would be a fit in Orlando. Why not try to bring in both, if NO plans on dumping him?

Without Okafor (before further trades):
Paul, Williams?
Redick, Pietrus
Lewis, Robinson???
Bass, Anderson,
Howard, Gortat, Orton

Orlando needs improvements at the combo wing. They could also get taller on the bench. But a starting core of Paul, Redick, Lewis, and Howard is something GM Smith will easily be able to build around. What Orlando would need in that team is a slasher on the wing.

The second half of the Channel 6 story is if the Paul/Nelson-Carter trade falls through, it would be Al Thornton and Randy Foye for Vince Carter. I would think many here would be happy with that as well.

I'm not believing any of these "sources" until I hear some legitimate rumblings from a credible talking head.

Till then. Good night

Okafor would be nice to have as a back-up C or possible 4 to play alongside Dwight but the dude is making $10.7 million/year. We've already complained about Gortat making $5.7 million/year as a back-up so how would the Magic be able to sustain Dwight ($15.2 mil), Rashard ($18 mil), CP3 ($13.5 mil) and Emeka ($10.7 mil)? That's already $57.4 million and those aren't even next year's salaries, which will be even higher! We'd already be over the salary cap for committing to just those 4 players...and 2 of those contracts are considered to be terrible.

This is a bummer .. I went to sleep hoping this morning the CP3 trade would at least be acknowledged by yahoo or ESPN .. And now I see everybody's saying Jameer isn't being traded at all :( so no Paul deal ..

Really hope that Washington deal will not take place, Or that Arenas gets a buyout, s&t and comes along :D

If that's the deal I'd rather keep Vince.

I don't know but that might eventually end up better re-building pieces to trade if we go for an sign and trade deal.

Randy Foye (who was included in the "VC to DC" deal) will be a RFA in oh, say a week, so this may be false and and one of those screen's Otis is always smoking

While it had legs at one point I'd say unless something crazy happens in the next 72 hours, this deal is dead and both teams move on.

The Magic are trying to move Carter, but most teams aren't biting, and if they are, it's for a handful of role players.

I think the JJ Redick pick was close to this. A lot of hate in that thread.

Or Ronnie Brewer, neither have been much better than Redick, especially with both on pretty bad teams now.
