Got this from NJ board, Dwight monitoring thread. No link was provided, so not sure of the source. Take it with a grain of salt:

If Dwight Howard isn’t traded to the Nets by the end of the week, the Nets will move on to their contingency plans and seek alternative means of filling out their roster, a person who has been briefed on the team’s thinking said.

The person asked not to be identified because of the sensitive nature of the team’s negotiations.

“It won’t go past this week,” the person said, adding that while Howard is the No. 1 target, the Nets “have a Plan A, B, C and D."

Plan B would appear to be free-agent center Nene, who has the same agent as Howard, Dan Fegan. Free agent Kris Humphries, who averaged a double-double for the Nets last season, would be one of the team’s other options.

The person said, however, that if the Nets walk away from a trade for Howard this week, it doesn’t mean they couldn’t make another attempt to trade for him during the season. The trade deadline is March 15.

I don't think Dwight will be traded this week, but i wonder if he knows what the plans are that are mentioned here. Wouldn't he want to know who he would be playing with? Also don't think he will be traded because the FO is not taking the Lopez deal, and they seem to think NJ is not going to offer more. They are off my radar for now.

We're not making any serious trades IMO. Don't have the assets to pull it off. I just hope Otis adds a legit backup to Dwight and a better backup PG.

Would bucks consider redick and Q for jackson?
seems to work in trade machine but we all know how reliable that is

kinda sucks to get older, but if its the difference between keeping dwight then im down.
it would certainly solidify our wing positions.

What needs might mil be looking to address this season? they seem to be in a good position right now.

I don't know if you guys heard... but our local boy Jermaine Taylor is heading back to the Rockets fairly soon

source was from Alex Kennedy
http://www.espnflorida.com/insider-ucfs ... o-rockets/

good for him, glad he got picked up... hopefully he'll get more minutes at SG, if Houston is still planning on moving Martin

That first part doesn't work financially.....but you know what, sub JJ for Q and it works, and honestly, each team gets a bit of what they want....not a bad deal for anybody at all...

The bucks are looking for a scorer if im not mistaken they had the worst offense last year or at least the lowest scoring team so that what they hope jackson brings is a go to scorer.

The fact that the players on Dwight list in known publicly makes it even harder to obtain those players. Those players' teams will have leverage due to Dwight "requesting" them.

I also don't think we NEED every player on his list. I say yes to Ellis, but no to SJax. We still have Hedo (and his virtually untradeable contract) to play SF/Point Forward.

So this starting lineup works for me:

PG - Ellis
SG- JRich
SF- Hedo
PF - BBD
C- D12

Nelson and JJ would be included in any trade to get Ellis, IMO.

I'm curious to ask... would you guys welcome or oppose a trade for Kevin Martin on our team? And would you welcome or oppose using Kevin Martin as a trading piece in a 3-team deal in order to get someone like Ellis, Iggy, or CP3? He'll be 29 in a couple months (still relatively young), but he's a consistent 20+ppg scorer with a good fg%, and he's known to draw fouls and get to the line A LOT.

I ask this because I was reading up on Alex Kennedy's report on Houston, and they are looking to move K-Mart and Scola. They are also planning on making the big move to give UCF/Tavares standout Jermaine Taylor the full rein at SG.

I'm curious if we can find a way to go after K-Mart for our own benefit (huge upgrade at SG imo), or maybe work with Houston as a 3rd team to send K-Mart to NOH for CP3 or to GSW for Ellis (get them some great assets in return)... or even to Philly for Iggy... some sort of 3 team deal. K-Mart puts up all-star numbers, even though he isn't an "official" all-star... but the man can score, nuff said... I'm sure there are teams out there that would love to have him.

Just an alternative option for us to go after, or to use as a moving piece in a 3 team deal.

I'm tired, going to sleep in a few. I would try out the trade checker, but my brain isn't up to the task. I'll try in the morning.

Trade deadline, just like every other year. Teams will still be looking to trade during the year I think....this one week free agency period thing is way too quick for everyone to make moves and think over them, evaluate their teams...etc etc. I think the trade deadline is early March (after Allstar game). Does anybody know what the rules are this year in terms of how long you have to wait to trade a player u signed? Typically it is like 90 days right? But normally those signings occur in like July or so....so this year, starting now...would push it past the trade deadline, which would be kinda dumb by the league. Does anybody have any info on if they are bumping down the waiting period this yr cuz of that?

yeah, JJ was in my original proposal, but once he's gone we've got nothing to pair with Hedo to convince Milwaukee to do a swap.

being under the tax doesn't that mean we can trade for 100% of outgoings plus $5M? add Duhon to that first deal and we're there.

BTW....I think this whole "age" thing is a bit overrated on this board. Look at the past 10 champions or so. ALL of them if I can recall, had guys who were near 30+ as integral parts to the championship.

Spurs - Duncan, Robinson, Ginobli
Lakers - Kobe, Fisher, Pau
Celtics - Ray, Pierce, KG
Heat - almost everyone except Wade (Shaq, Eddie Jones, Mourning, etc)
Pistons - Rasheed, Big Ben, Mcdyess
Rockets - Hakeem, Kenny Smith, (hell did they even have a young guy other than Cassell?)
Bulls - Jordan, Pippen, Rodman, (all older vets basically)
Mavs - Dirk, Terry, Kidd, Marion...

I mean just go down the list. They basically all had a superstar surrounded by solid, older veteran players. This idea that you have to have a super-young team of all guys in their young to mid 20s is kinda ridiculous. OKC/Memphis are about the only teams with all young talent to be very successful (and they weren't until just last year, so we will wait and see). Guys like Stephen Jackson, Chauncey, Big Baby (I know he is young, but kinda plays that older vet role), etc are the typical glue-guys that every championship team needs.

Partly why I think Nash would still fit in very well with this team.

i believe kmart's offensive game would be a great addition to this team, but he IS a strong liability on defense, doesn't seem like the type of guy dwight would want on his team- (having said, that ellis isn't all that great of a defender either- but he is opportunistic on defense and is supposedly a tough guy now) so i want iggy more than anyone else on this team (yea more than ellis too)- he has shot creating ability, he can create for others and is the best perimeter defender in the league right now (save maybe tony allen)
