Yep... and it'll make my life easier

The thread will be back though during the summer/off-season for the draft, summer league, free agency, and training camp (I'll bump it)... and then during the season again all the way up to the trade deadline... then rinse and repeat... going to be a staple on the forum for a long time. and I'm going to hand over this thread to the mods for them to keep up this off-season.

Dwight Howard saga: Questions and answers - Josh Robbins (Orlando Sentinel) 6 hours ago

Do not be ashamed if the Dwight Howard saga confuses you.

The NBA's new collective-bargaining agreement contains plenty of perplexing intricacies.

Here, we try to separate fact from fiction...

Good summary article by Robbins. Though I must say, I emphatically approve of Simmon's take on our trade assets over Robbins. Anderson not worth Ellis or Nash? Pfft. And the "Dwight effect" is the biggest load of malarkey I've read and continue reading.

Hedo on the trading blocks: ESPN rumor

Post#1247 » by drsd » Sun Mar 11, 2012 9:08 am

Hedo Turkoglu, sources say, is the first name Orlando has been throwing out in trade discussions over the past week or so. Yet it's one thing to try to foist Turkoglu on a team that's trading for Howard and quite another to try to move Turkoglu, or any other vet in Howard's supporting cast, when Dwight himself isn't part of the deal.

Said another front-office source of the $18 million that Turkoglu is guaranteed over the next two seasons after this one: "They'd have to be willing to throw in at least two [future] first-round picks to get someone to take him."

ESPN Link

And the editorial on this:
BR LINK

According to Marc Stein of ESPN.com, the Orlando Magic are searching for a home for Hedo Turkoglu and the cumbersome two years, $18 million left on his contract. However, their attempts have fallen flat, as no teams are interested in acquiring the 32-year-old veteran before the NBA trade deadline on March 15th.

With Rubio done for the season, Orlando might find a more receptive listener in the baby-wolves. Fran Vazquez is a natural fit in the Twin-cities. Building a package of Turkoglu and Vazquez for Beasley (a long rumored interest for the Magic) would seem to require a Magic first-round pick, as suggested above.

If the Wolves are looking to upgrade the SG slot, then Redick would need to be in the deal. And Orlando needs a backup Center for a playoff run.

We are left with Turkoglu, Redick, rights to Vazquez, and a first round pick (unprotected) for Beasley, Milicic, and Miller.

Orlando becomes:
Nelson, Duhon, Smith
Richardson-2, Wafer, Liggins
Beasley, Richardson-1,
Anderson, Davis, Harper
Howard, Milicic, Miller

This is not a roster to resign Howard; it's a roster to try to compete in this year's playoffs.

For the baby-wolves, a bunch of large contracts are moved, and two young bigs are picked up. Rubio, Redick, Turkoglu, Love, and Vazquez as a starting five helps move Minny towards an 8-seed in next year's playoffs. So ....

i really hope the return to be worthy of a 1st round pick. because I rather keep the picks in this uncertain times.

Beasley is not an upgrade over Hedo in any way shape or form or in any universe or parallel universe or... you get my drift. Also, this is being talked about in the Speculation thread, so for the sake of consistency I'm moving this.

The trade does give us a backup center and a lot of contract help though

Why do people simply requote a post without adding anything extra? What value is that to the discussion? We are all reading the same material so why repost it?

this might be the first time I saw a decent put down and a satisfying answer confined in a single very brief response. Epic.
