Man it'd be real sad for the East if we got a Pacers-76er's ECF....Just some thoughts for this dead thread.

I would actually like that a lot. I have said it many times that I never want to see LeBron win a ring so that ECF would be great in my opinion

So I'm not terribly keen on our salary cap situation next offseason. I know our cap situation is F'ed this summer. But my question is next summer is it viable for us to offer Dwight and another player a Max contract?

I gotta tell you I'm sold on James Harden and he is going be free agent next summer I believe. Guy goes to the rim with the balls of a matador. He would easily be the man on half the NBA teams, but he is playing 3 fiddle on the thunder. He would be just what the doctor ordered for us, a guy that can get to the rim and score 20 something a game. Perfect 1-2 punch with dwight. Then Anderson, Nelson, Reddick can all take turns being the 3rd. Of course you have to convince dwight of the plan and not be shortsighted.

He is not going keep coming off the bench. He can say all the right things now but any basketball player worth his salt thats as good as Harden is going want to start. Maybe he'll want to look elsewhere. Maybe Orlando? ;)
The hero Orlando deserves is out there somewhere, Dwight was not the one we needed. So we will hunt for him...

If we got Harden I might get Harden up myself...sorry that was a terrible attempt at humor

Man it's funny you say that... I was just watching the game thinking to myself... dang if only we had a guy like Harden on our team... poised, smart, takes good shots, creates for himself & others, constantly in attack mode, passes very well, efficient playing 26min and still putting up 20+ppg... dude's a beast... imagine if he was a 1st option in OKC... heck imagine if he was Dwight's robin.

i've been big on Harden for a while.

in fact, if we go down the route of trading Dwight i would happily take Harden + filler for him. i don't think the Thunder would do that, though.

If somebody offers Harden a max contract I don't think there is any chance the Thunder match.

That's why they'll try lock him up to a deal this summer for less than the max. We should make sure our people let his people know we'll be clearing room to offer him a max deal so he holds off signing.

This would be a pretty nice offseason IMO

1. Fire Otis
2. Hire Pritchard
3. Fire SVG
4. Hire D'Antoni
5. Nelson stays
6. Earl opts in
7. Wafer gets cut
8. Magic trade JRich + Fran's rights to Minn for Darko and pick
9. Pritchard works his Magic and follows that move up by trading JJ|Baby|picks to Mil for Ellis|1st
10. Magic sign Nash for MLE
11. Magic match Anderson
12. Magic do not bring back Ish or Orton

Starting five: Nash|Ellis|Hedo|Anderson|Dwight

Primary bench unit: Nelson|Ellis|Liggins|Earl|Dwight

9th man getting 12mpg: Darko

I'd like to see Anderson and Ellis each average between 34-36 mpg and for Liggins and Earl to earn a full time spot in our rotation, with Harper competing hard on Earls heels. Not sure what we draft with the Bucks pick but I'd prefer a PG.

So yeah I was bored but this would be an interesting team. Biggest question mark would be Liggins or QRich compensating for the loss of JRich (who swung between SF/SG), and Earl, Harper, or Darko compensating for the loss of Baby. Baby and JRich are veterans that can still make major impacts but I think the weaknesses their loss creates are nullified by the gains in Ellis and longterm financial flexibility. Going from our best wing being JJ to Ellis is a clear upgrade IMO, and gettting Nash for the MLE is the best bang for the buck.

I must have missed the defensive players that have been in our rotation that no longer are.... ;)

Really though our best defenders have been Gortat, Pietrus, Barnes, Lee, QRich, maybe Baby, maybe Alston, Bogans, and....

Ok, yeah, our defense is all Dwight. Lets not exaggerate here.
