Re: Official Speculation Thread (Pt. XXX: Offseason Edition)
I was looking at hoopshype rumors on Jameer. He had a personal tweet saying he and Dwight are still tight friends and not to believe speculation otherwise. This was after the season ended, aka after the Jameer-Dwight altercation.
Just thought it was interesting.

I agree with this plan 100%
I hope Rob isn't that pathetic.
I don't think he is, my predictions are that we will see greater offers coming in for D12 after the recent JJ transaction, and we will see some great decisions from Rob. I believe this guy is gonna make this franchise far more respected in the NBA.

We can't do this for another year....
Why not? How much worse could it get? It's worth the millions Devos would make, if it happened of course, all that stuff would be forgotten if he resigned with a true contender in '13

Re: Official Speculation Thread (Pt. XXX: Offseason Edition)
Chris Broussard @Chris_Broussard
Sources: The Nets & Magic are discussing a trade that would send Dwight Howard to Brooklyn for Briik Lopez, Kris Humphies, Marshon Brooks and the Nets' first-round picks in 2012, 2014, 2016 & 2018....move would give Nets Big 3 of D-Will, Dwight & Joe Johnson
Is Broussard trolling or is he serious? Cause he tweeted this before:
Chris Broussard @Chris_Broussard
Testing
And this is the real Chris Broussard, not the fake
I can't see Hennigan being interested in this. Picks will be late 1st round picks, and with Lopez/Humphries we would have like 20 big guys .. Not happening. 3rd team has to be involved. And I think everyone in Orlando would prefer not to trade with Brooklyn

Re: Official Speculation Thread (Pt. XXX: Offseason Edition)
If Hennigan trades Dwight for Lopez, Humphries, Brooks and picks, he will piss off a lot of Magic fans and NBA fans in general. You don't give in to a temper-tantrum throwing crybaby; you humble them. At this point Dwight needs to be taught a lesson.
If he wants to play in Brooklyn, good luck signing there as a FA next season. Let's see how bad they want you then, idiot.
Trade this clown to Houston for cap relief, draft picks and rookies.

A deal with the Nets doesnt make sense not because of teaching Dwight etc. But because getting a package like this will only make us mediocre. I'd rather have Bynum.

I actually do not mind this. While I don't think Lopez is elite he is pretty damn good. Also it gives us flexibility in that we can either use the draft picks or trade them to acquire talent.

Re: Official Speculation Thread (Pt. XXX: Offseason Edition)
Funny how the Hawks are now a hot topic. Too bad no one wants to go there. Also the Magic could have the same amount of cap space in 2013 if they just move a few players. Here is a break down of our roster in the summer of 2013:
Davis - 6,400,000
JRich - 6,204,250
Hedo - 6,000,000 (will be waived if he can't be traded)
Duhon - 3,920,000 (only counts 1.5 million towards cap if waived and he will be waived if not traded)
QRich - 2,808,600 (Player Option year)
Overall roster if no one gets traded and QRich doesn't opt out = 22,912,850. Add another 2 million for rookie contracts and we are at about 25 million. If we add say Bynum through the Howard trade, it will be pushed to 40 million because his new contract would start at about 15 million. That still gives us about 20 million in cap space.
I still say we will move Hedo and Duhon because they should be easy to move due to their small deals. That would save us 7.5 million. If QRich opts out, that number moves to 10.3 in savings for 2013. So we could be looking at a roster with Bynum (or Howard), Davis, JRich, Nickolson, 2013 rookie and still have 30 million in cap to spend. We could resign JJ, sign two guys making more than 10 million a year (Ellis, Iggy, Smith, Paul, etc) and then sign up some vets looking to contend.

I have no problems with us being a bad team, im more than ready to suck, but if I have to listen to Brook Lopez's voice along the way, you can forget it!
And with these super-star teams together, I will not watch another NBA game again!!

Re: Official Speculation Thread (Pt. XXX: Offseason Edition)
No deal will make us better, even with acquiring an All-Star.
While Bynum is probably the lone best asset you can obtain, our window for building around him would be pretty limited as well. Even if we signed Ellis or Iggy next offseason, does a tandem of Bynum/Ellis contend for a championship? Unfortunately, I don't believe so.
It might be time to rid these awful contracts, gather a handful of first round draft picks and key on a nice rookie package like Lamb/White. That's why I still think Houston is our best trading partner unless a three way trade is initiated.

Re: Official Speculation Thread (Pt. XXX: Offseason Edition)
The thing with Hedo & Doo-hon is no one is taking them on without compensation. So, they're packaged with Dwight, packaged for a disgruntled player as semi-expirings, or dealt with a sweetener (first rounder) to shed salary.
Either way, chances of us ridding ourselves completely with no financial ramifications are pretty much slim to none.

Re: Official Speculation Thread (Pt. XXX: Offseason Edition)
I do not like Brook Lopez as a player and I think it would be a bad idea to overpay him in a sign and trade and have that contract on the books.
Marshon Brooks may or may not turn out to be what everyone thinks, Kris Humphries could get overpayed and those picks will be at the bottom of the first round.
Finally, Dwight gets what he wants and I would rather look around elsewhere for a deal elsewhere.
The Magic have some leverage since The Nets probably will not have the capspace after the season following the Joe Johnson deal unless they can trade Gerald Wallace during the season for an expiring.

Re: Official Speculation Thread (Pt. XXX: Offseason Edition)
The Nets deal has some of what The Magic would want.
Those picks, a young player in Brooks but getting Lopez would mean The Magic take on a big contract for a guy who do not feel is worth it.
If you can get a third team in the deal and move Lopez elsewhere, it's more appealing depending on what you get.
I would rather take the chances that the Nets would not be able to move Wallace and make Dwight re-think his options and expand the list.

I would not worry about Hedo Turkoglu. He only has two years left on the deal and this team will be rebuilding anyway.

I still don't understand why we are yet to send him to Houston and start the rebuilding. Lowry, Martin and the 3 rookies.
http://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=6r7wlfz (trade will work once you factor in the rookie's salaries)
Orlando :
Lowry/Ish
Lamb/Redick
White/Hedo
Jones/Nicholson
O'Quinn
I didn't include Martin because he's an expiring and i would assume he will be flipped for picks or a young player.
Trade Big Baby for an average center or such. Go into full rebuilding mode and go for Nerlens Noel or Shabbazz.
I do not want Bynum. Bynum with Kobe AND Gasol couldn't win a championship and you guys are under the impression that pairing him with someone like Ellis in 2013 will get us far. It won't.
Rockets llok like this :
Dragic
Lee/Jrich
Parsons
Scola
Dwight
Pretty good if you ask me.

Steve Kyler @stevekylerNBA
For those just getting moving... Nets and Magic had "fruitful" discussions on Dwight Howard trade... nothing close but both sides talking.
Steve Kyler @stevekylerNBA
Broussard also reporting Kris Humphries in the deal... both Hump and Lopez would have to agree to new deals with Orlando
Mark Deeks @MarkDeeksNBA
Lopez will be BYC if signed for more than $3,692,377. So if Turkoglu is coming back, unless other fillers are used, Humphries will get PAID.
