That would be really odd to be honest. Draft the guy, he balls in the summer league, we love his character and then trade him when he don't have to? None of this makes any sense...

Twitter garbage at the moment...deal works as constructed in trade checker without him.

We all know that Houston offered us something.

The worst part is, we don't even get the cap flexibility we were looking for. I keep seeing people in this thread defend the deal...by claiming we get cap flexibility.

We gain very little cap flexibility out of this in comparison to holding on to Dwight and letting him walk. We basically swapped J-Rich's deal for Affalo's, and got out from under Duhon's deal.

We gained the cap flexibility of not having to pay Chris Duhon. That's it. Whoopie.

And so what if we only have to pay Harrington 50 percent of the salary if we waive him after this year? That's a loss, because we wouldn't have had to pay Dwight Howard ANYTHING after this season.

This deal doesn't make any sense.

cap flexibility doesn't mean sh*t for the next couple years. We are tanking, full out tanking. Only thing that matters is that we got assets instead of letting him walk for nothing. I'm not saying its a great deal but we got assets.

What assets did we get? Aaron Affalo stopped playing defense in Denver last year, and was one of the least inefficient players at his position. He had a PER of 14. Everyone trying to sell us on his defense didn't watch him play last season.

We didn't get desireable assets, other than late first round picks...which are only minor assets.

We got nothing. After all this time, we caved...and just decided to move on, and take whatever garbage deal was on the table.

wish i had more info....what's keeping me up is wondering if this was our only option....wasn't time on our side? This deal seems kinda rushed if that makes any sense....they shoot down a Houston deal or any deal at the time insinuating that we are in no rush to make a deal and we might keep Dwight till the deadline and that we're in "Win-now" mode or something along those lines....then a week or two later decide to trade him basically for a little ceasar's Hot N Ready and some La gear sneakers....what happened in that week or two since "Win-now" mode?

What i think probably happened is Devos probably did try to talk to Dwight to persuade him but got rebuffed and here we are....funny how things work like that.....

Going to bed soon, but finally found the silver lining (hopefully):

Devos caved in knowing he wasn't keeping Dwight and told Hennigan to get shorter contracts so he can sell the team.

I'm reaching here but it would make sense knowing he won't get to see this team win it all.

And you think that pick would still be as high if they teamed up Dwight with DWill?

At the deadline, before they gave up and traded for Crash, yeah.

You're too smart to say that. Take that back.

Sorry, I misinterpreted that. It's late. And I'm frustrated and bitter and feel like a fan neglected by its own front office.

Hoping to wake up in the morning and find out that we get something more than lame draft picks.

I want to burn Magic gear in general. With trades like this, how could anyone blame Dwight for wanting out?

I'm glad that I'm not the lone non-Laker fan who lives in LA. If i was able to stomach the three-peat 2000-2003 and the two-peat not too long ago, I can somewhat survive a last hurrah given an aging Nash, Kobe, and Pau for the next couple years. Love em or hate em, the Lakers as an organization get sh*t done.

I'm in LA.
People have gathered outside the Staples center.

What's it like outside the arena in Orlando?
