Huge relief... I'm assuming with the Magic he'll be out 2-3 weeks

Looks like Fultz/Suggs/Carter might all be returning at the same time.

The GB did a Season Awards thread for your own team.

I answered this.

MVP: Wendell Carter

DPOY: Mo Bamba

6MOY: RJ Hampton

MIP: Cole Anthony

ROY. Franz Wagner

Biggest Disappointment: T-Ross the Human Torch.

How close is this?

MVP not WCJ
DPOY not Mo
Biggest Disappointment - has to be Suggs. due to his draft position and expectations. I think he will rebound he isnt a bust, but he is biggest disappointment.

MIP - i can agree with Anthony
6MOY - i guess RJ due to lack of other options.
ROY - obviously Franz

MVP: Cole Anthony- becouse we lack ball handling so much

DPOY: Suggs- he has amazing frame for point of attack defender. His instincts and motor are crazy good.

6MOY: oh boy. I would say Mo Wagner becouse everyone mentions him as a true emotional leader

MIP: Carter- his shot and perimeter defense are vastly improved. He is still suffering from mediocre guard play

ROY. Franz Wagner

Biggest Disappointment: Ross is bad, but i expected this. If i had to pick player i would go with Hampton. Otherwise its injuries.

Yeah, I’d probably lean this way. Hampton definitely the biggest disappointment for me so far, just off my own expectations for him.

Orlando is currently only 9 games back of a play-in slot. The Magic probably needs to simply go 36-of-51 to make the play-ins (71% win rate here on). In other words, to make the play-ins, the Magic need to play the rest of the season as Golden St./Phoenix has played. At that win level, or thereabouts.

Mychal Mulder and Ignas Brazdeikis seem to be uncapped to the number of games they can play this season. Let's see how they use that.

If i am not mistaken Mobley and Bamba are the only 2 players who are not really centers, dont have to battle inside all the time and have more opportunities to contest shots from help position ?

Only serious conversation about Bamba at this stage should be about trading him to recover little value he has left.
Complete and utter waste of draft pick, let alone first round, lottery pick. Fact that we passed on SGA, two Bridges, MPjr just makes that decision even more depressing.

So what were you expecting in 2018? Carter? Sexton? Both seemed a reach at the time of the draft.

Personally I know I was a HUGE fan of Mr. trade down. It "felt" like the Sixers were aching to trade up and the #6 for the #10 and another asset seemed like a great flip. And with that pick, I was a super-duper fan of Gilgeous-Alexander.

If the Magic had come out of this 2018 draft with Korkmaz and Gilgeous-Alexander, for example, I would have been very pleased.
But what do I know.

Kind a irrelevant now, given 3 and half years passed by. But Orlando should have traded him last 2 years when they had evidence in front of their eyes every practice that he is definition of bench players , and not even good one at that.
I'm pretty sure they could have got some top 20 pick if they dumped him in 2019 or 2020. Now is too late to "win" some trade with him. He will either walk away in FA or be resigned to keep investing money into turd , so Weltman doesn't need to answer why his draft pick left

Probably best anti Chet Holmgren argument is to present picture of Mo Bamba and put sign "Development?" above it
:dontknow:

Bamba will probably linger around nba for couple of more years but it's pass period where he can be viewed as serious contributor on winning team. He plays PF now, he draws no fouls whatsoever (2/3rd of games didn't get single FT shot ), he isn't even that good rebounder, he is below average shooter despite being wide open and he is kind a usless at everything but blocking some shots, but isn't good defender.
Keon Johnson and Ibaka for Bamba? Why not, we can cut Ibaka so he can join contender asap.

Hindsight is obviously always 20/20.

I personally didn't have a problem with the Bamba pick at the time it was made. It felt defensible given the information we had.

At the time the Bamba pick was made, Vucevic was a 0 time all-star, coming off arguably the worst year of his career and heading into the final year of his contract.

Everyone expected the Magic to stink again and for Vucevic to either get traded away or be allowed to walk at the end of the season with Bamba sliding into his starting center role.

Now obviously it didn't work out that way. Bamba was more raw than the front office expected and his low motor and work ethic got him on Clifford's **** list instantly.

Shame on the Magic for A. not realizing how bad Bamba actually was before they picked him and B. not unloading him immediately while he still had value and after they opted to resign Vucevic for $100M.

But generally speaking the thought process behind the pick was fine at that time.
