But... but... is it possible that you're wrong, and Dwight can be trusted?

As much as it's possible you are wrong.

Oh believe me, I know. It's just that I'm not going around pretending all the ins n outs of the situation.

Adrian Wojnarowski ‏@WojYahooNBA
Brook Lopez is still weighing a Charlotte offer sheet against the Nets 4-year max offer, with partial guarantees in 5th year, sources say.

How funny would it be to see Brook sign the offer sheet from CHA?

I know the Nets would match, but after being their rag doll all summer, why would he want to return?

Edit
Adrian Wojnarowski ‏@WojYahooNBA
Nets will match any offer sheet, but would be unable to trade Lopez without his OK for a full year under terms of CBA.

So there are real implications for it too...no D12 trade within a year without Lopez approval if the Nets match an offer sheet.

Fine, but you're talking about "masterful moves," "utmost respect," Hennigan is a "boss." So far, he's drafted two rookies who haven't played a real game and made the fairly obvious decision of letting Anderson walk. Hardly a resume' worthy of that kind of praise, in my opinion.

There is nothing wrong with being excited about Hennigan. He's obviously going the "text-book" route of clearing cap and rebuilding through proper drafting/scouting. This is something the Magic does rarely (You can thank Otis and other terrible GMs we've had). However, being too critical of Hennigan's move thus far is being a bit short-sighted. Plus it's not giving him the benefit of the doubt if you do so. You're missing the entire body of work he's trying to create with the team. Give him a year at least before you criticize some of his early moves so far.

What do people expect Hennigan to do after only working for a month? Nobody is a miracle worker. He's been given a team with overpaid players and a superstar who is holding the franchise hostage with his demands to go to Brooklyn. I think everything Rob has done up to this point has been methodical and on track with what needs to be done. And let's be honest, we weren't bringing back/matching Ryan Anderson for $36mil/4yrs. If we are trying to clear cap, tank, and rebuild then this is what had to be done. And O'Quinn and Nicholson look like very good prospects. They may not have played an NBA game yet, but judging their skills from a technical stand-point in Summer League, such as their low-block footwork, defensive awareness/rotations, and skills on offense (too mention a few), I think they can be very productive NBA players if given the adequate development from coaching. Now Hennigan is focusing his efforts on acquiring the right coaching staff for his vision of Magic basketball. And the best thing he's done is shutdown the Nets "ultimatum" for dealing Dwight Howard today. The Nets trade package is garbage. I admire that Rob isn't giving in to Dwight's wants, and the Nets'/media's pressure. He's doing what is best for the Magic, and he's not cracking under the heat. He's not messing around. So I respect that as well, and VGOSWAMI has every right to be excited about a new GM who is competent and confident. Sure was there a little hyperbole in his post? Yeah, but we all do that. I know I do sometimes. No big deal. I like the enthusiasm and optimism from fans. :)

Just adding my two-cents. We can agree to disagree if you want.

So have the Nets made this offer to him officially yet? What leverage does Brook really have on a 5th year? Can't Brooklyn just hold out as long as they want really and then match any max 4 year offer?

Although I guess they could say, well if you don't offer me a 5th year now, I will sign an offer sheet and then you can't trade me for a year! Seeya all Dwight hopes! How funny is it to use your own tradeability as a bargaining chip hahaha.

This was also probably a big part of the decision to not match Ryno? You can't trade him for a full year after matching...

Yes but, according to Woj, if the Nets match any offer sheet for Lopez, they can't trade him without his approval for at least a year.

So if Lopez wants security in where he plays for at least a year, he signs an offer sheet, forcing the Nets to match.

Yep, I find all the minor intricacies in NBA contracts pretty interesting.

If he wants full control he would sign it. If the nets match they can't trade him w/o his consent for a year. That is huge!!! Makes you wonder if the Nets would match because you have to think it kills the Dwight deal completely.

That's even bigger than the originally expected 4yr $56mil deal. There goes pretty much any shot we would take him on.

Josh Robbins ‏@JoshuaBRobbins

Once Brook Lopez signs new contract, #Nets cannot trade him til Jan 15. Looks like D12's Brooklyn hopes are done -- for now.

Where in this post did he say anything about Dwight? It was about Rob.
DUH! He said he was building trust. I assume he was trying to build it with Dwight. You can not build trust with someone who can not be trusted.
Right. But that doesn't change the fact that that is what Rob could ultimately be trying to do, and that is all that KnicksGod was saying, which is perfectly reasonable.
Geez, it may be what he is trying to do but I am saying Dwight CAN NOT be trusted. What is so hard to understand about that? I was NOT arguing about what Hennigan was trying to do. Are you always this obtuse?

David Aldridge ‏@daldridgetnt
Lopez is getting $60.8M/4 yrs. Hornets had committed to give Lopez an offer sheet; Nets gave him similar contract to avoid having to match.

EDIT
David Aldridge ‏@daldridgetnt
Had written Hornets in earlier tweet mistakenly. Offer sheet proposal for Lopez was from Charlotte, not New Orleans.
