Re: Official Spec Thread: Heart and Hustle Magic 2.0
I still think it’s too early to write Bamba off as an individual, but it’s not looking like he’s making a case to be a long term piece for us either.
With his length and ability to get hot from outside he’s always going to be interesting to some team. He’s a prime candidate to have a hot run like Biyombo or Whiteside at the right time to get himself a fat pay check from someone but all indications suggest that won’t be from Orlando.

Re: Official Spec Thread: Heart and Hustle Magic 2.0
I was fine with Bamba at the draft and throughout his rookie year even though a friend who is scout for one of the franchises told me about motor issues and that his club wouldn't touch him with a stick. Not that I didn't believe him, I simply thought he might be wrong considering he was out of their range for detailed scouting. Turns out it probably wasn't that hard to figure out and personality is very hard to change.

And if they are not passionate about the game. Bamba strikes me as a guy who plays because he is really tall, not because he is passionate about the game. My early impressions is that I was confused why we wasted a draft pick on another raw big when we had drafted Isaac the prior year.Orl_Magic wrote:Pretty hard to light a fire under someones ass when hes already a millionaire. No Bogdan Bogdanovic, Trae Young, Clint Capela, Hunter, Solomon Hill, Galinari no TLC...
Why nba thinks people want to watch this sort of games where teams are missing 15 players?

The NBA gets paid their TV money even if the fans have the boob-box turned-of : so long as the games are played.

It's exciting to watch young players like Shariff Cooper and Jalen Johnson get a chance.pepe1991 wrote:No Bogdan Bogdanovic, Trae Young, Clint Capela, Hunter, Solomon Hill, Galinari no TLC...

It is for NBA nerds like us, but terrible for most fans and, especially, for business...it's like watching summer league. More of a curiosity than what NBA should be. Tough spot for Silver as there is a lot of $$$ at stake, but he is very vigilant about the product and the longer term view.

He'd have to get the players to agree to suspend the season and potentially lose money also.Skybox wrote:basketballRob wrote:It's exciting to watch young players like Shariff Cooper and Jalen Johnson get a chance.pepe1991 wrote:No Bogdan Bogdanovic, Trae Young, Clint Capela, Hunter, Solomon Hill, Galinari no TLC...

The NBA is the most progressive, player-friendly league ever...but he reps the interests of the NBA first, the owners second (sometimes from themselves)...players somewhere down the list. He doesn't need the players' okay - he's just smart enough to recognize the value of diplomacy with the talent. Ultimately, he will do what's best for the NBA-as he should.

Doubt he'd even be interested but wouldn't his upside STILL be much higher than some of the cadavers we're bringing in?
(The promise of a big ballsy kid who could potentially win the dunk contest AND the 3pt contest... still ringing in my gullible head)

Yeah i know, both situation are not comparable tho. Redick was a lot more competitive than Bamba ever was.

Yeah. That annoyed the **** out of me. We invested a lottery pick in getting him and SVG didn't want to play him. Bogans, Evans, Pietrus... he'd play any journeyman over Redick and Otis just kept bringing them in. Then we picked up Lee late in the first round and he immediately went ahead of Redick on the depth chart. SVG just like who he didn't like. We gave away a young Ariza because SVG didn't like him.
I really don't get the affinity people have for SVG. I also don't understand why people credit him for Redick's success. He managed to turn the collegiate player of the year into a serviceable rotation player in the span of just five years. Amazing. And as soon as Redick moved on, he suddenly because one of the league's premier snipers and a mainstay in starting lineups.

And as soon as Redick moved on, he suddenly because one of the league's premier snipers and a mainstay in starting lineups.
“I think just in terms of intangibles and characteristics I think any NBA player should have, I think he taught me those things and he reinforced those things in me – professionalism, accountability, playing hard and the same way every game, not taking any nights off, all that stuff, because he lives that,” Redick said. “I see how hard he works, how much he invests in his craft, and so as a player, playing for him, you really have no choice but to do the same.
The two were together in Orlando, where Van Gundy coached Redick starting in his second season. And even though Redick’s minutes actually went down that season, he began forming a relationship that would shape his NBA career.
In addition to reinforcing the idea that accountability was a necessary trait, on the court, Van Gundy helped shape Redick into a valuable defender despite athletic limitations that keep him from being a one-on-one stopper.
“Pretty much any sort of team defense concept that’s pertinent to modern NBA basketball, I learned from Stan,” Redick said.”
Because JJ Redick many times said so
