Re: Official Speculation & Free Agency Thread (Part III)
If the Magic trade Dwight, they should change their name to the Orlando Generals. Because, they will never fight for a title again. At best, they will be a 4-8 seed and 1st round fodder to the big markets.
Can anyone say why we should even root for a small market team ever again?

I asked the same question yesterday. why should small market fans, which are the majority of nba fans, support the NBA product if we are no more than farm systems for big market teams. Why should we not invest our time and money into the NFL? What's our motivation?

then there is no incentive to trade, as any new Dwight contract wont get the bonuses he could get being traded earlier.
He can be traded after the all-star game.

If you are a small market team, you gotto draft a superstar and hope o surround him with talent RIGHT AWAY to win a title. If that doesn't happen, bye bye.

This league is a joke!
Its never gonna be fixed! What was the whole point of the lockout to begin with????
This franchise is going into another rebuilding Mode and all because we're in a small market??? RDV put so much into this team! Its disgusting how a selfish prick can ruin it just like that! What about all the fans now, huh? It hurts so bad! I'm done with this circus! The city should sue the NBA!!!!

I got a funny feeling a team without cofirmation on extension is gonna show up and get Howard that offers the best in return as far as draft picks position & young players

Durant got surrounded with talent, but even with that, he will bolt at the first opportunity.

If he is gone i would rather try and shed as much salary and tank a season to try and win the lottery.

I say dont sign anyone, clear salary and tank for draftpicks. Thats the only chance we would have to be good again. Thats the only chance for a team like us.

Yer talking about tanking and winning the Lottery. Magic got lucky in the draft and that is straight gambling. More of a chance to be the next Atlanta Hawks and get a good draft pick then spend max money on a player like Joe Johnson that is an all-star, but no superstar. But, he would choose a small market because of the max money. Then, your team is stuck being a 4-8 seed. Really, there is no hope.

I Like the idea Darth had about Dwight and Hedo for Brook lopez, marshon brooks, and 2 first round picks. We should be having a lottery pick from the Magic but obviously not the nets. Then in draft night we can use one of the draft picks and Brook lopez for another lottery pick. Than we can go after barnes and davis or two legit players in the draft. Dont draft a two guard b/c i truly believe Brooks has the skill set to be something special. Let the rebuilding begin.

This is probably the best way to go here, I like the idea of moving him to NJ way more than LAL, it seems to me NJ are like the clippers of NY anyway. An I think with Brooks, lopez and a bunch of picks we could do well. I truly believe Lopez would actually be a pretty good pf with a hopefully Drummond pick to play C.

I don't think anyone has mentioned the Amway center yet. We built that for Dwight... the house that Dwight built. The slick DeVoses managed to get the City of Orlando to foot the bill for it. We'll be paying for it for years to come. I love the building and the atmosphere it provides. But it's just another way Orlando got ****** again.

For every Dwight, there is a Darko (2nd pick)
For every Durant, there is Michael Beasley (2nd Pick)
For every Bosh, there is a Thabeet (1st pick)
For every Wade, there is a Adam Morrison (3rd pick)
For every Chris Paul, there is a Marvin Williams (2nd pick)
For every Carmelo, there is a Ben Gordon (3rd pick)
For every Yao Ming, there is a Jay Williams (2nd) and Mike Dunleavy Jr (3rd) in same draft.
For every Pau Gasol (2nd), there is a Kwame Brown (1st) and Eddy Curry (4th in same draft
Could go on year by year. Point is, there are 25 other teams now banking and tanking to get that top 5 pick because they all need to put fans in the seats for a few years. No franchise is going to last long losing in this league for more than 3 years anymore once fans figure out how futile it is to root for a farm team.

Kyler on Dwight:
@stevekylerNBA Steve Kyler
The next one... why is Orlando letting D12's agent talk to other teams -- best offers come from understanding mindset of Dwight.
Lastly - Dan Fegan is one hell of a deal maker... he'll bring back more value than Otis Smith would on... he controls many chips in the game
Don't read that allowing Dwight to talk to teams means he is out of Orlando... It means he can decide now if he really wants to leave.
As for Dwight and the Chicago Bulls --- everyone is assuming the Bulls want Dwight... they have expressed ZERO interest in Dwight...

RT @mcguirknba: he cant get much back if it is just the Lakers or Mavs as options ---> sure he can, add a third, or fourth team...
what an idiot, after the Paul trade the Lakers (which seems to happen) have barely enough to get Dwight who would want to be involved in that trade and give us something of substance?!?

Lets look at it this way.
Besides not being one of the biggest markets.
Great Weather down here!
No State tax meaning here you make the most money.
An owner that throws money at your team.
The newest and best arena in the NBA.
And we cant convince D-Will to come down here and demand a trade like Dwight will?
The only conclusion I have is that Otis not being able to do anything worth while is the reason this all plays out like it is. How can he still have a job?
