Re: 2012 Orland Magic NBA draft thread ...
On SportsCenter, Chad Ford discussed the player who's stock is rising and who's is falling. Rising- SG Terrance Ross, he said Ross is in Cleveland today for a late private workout. Falling- PJ3, he said PJ3 has not shot well in his workouts and teams aren't sure if he is a SF or PF.
2nd rd sleeper- PG Tyshawn Taylor, he said about Taylor, that at times he can remind you of Russell Westbrook, and other times makes stupid bonehead plays.

IF (BIG BIG if) Terrence Jones is still on the board and Ross is gone, I'd easily select him.
It was just a season ago when he shoulda declared and he would've absolutely been Top 3.
Staying cost him as Davis and Kidd-Gilchrist took over that team but dude can still ball.
Anyway, I HOPE Terrence Ross is still there @ 19, he'd be perfect for us.

Not happening. Ross falling that far would be a big shocker considering his stock is supposed to be on the rise.

He is probably the biggest enigma in this draft. Might go in the late teens, might fall to the second round.

Yeah I know, still holding out hope though but w/ Houston getting all of those picks, it's starting to look like they'll strangely enough be in control of the middle of the draft and I honestly see them taking Ross @12, PJIII @16, then Terrence Jones or Jared Sullinger @18 to have a nice young SG/SF/PF nucleus.
If I were them I'd still be looking to trade Lowry for a Top 10 pick or C.
Offtopic: Just realized thread title says "Orland Magic"

Bradley Beal says Jeff Taylor played toughest D on him and will make a good pro: "Very strong. He has the body for it. He can guard 1-5."

Re: 2012 Orland Magic NBA draft thread ...
I'm in the camp of keeping Dwight Howard, so I want immediate impact players that can help us beat the Heat and Thunder next season. Listening to Hennigan today, it's refreshing to hear that he wants Dwight to be in a Magic uniform too. Therefore, I think he's going to try to pick a player that will impress Dwight right away. Hennigan also gave clues that he wants a guy who will play the game the right way, a team guy who doesn't think of himself greater than the whole. I think that is extremely smart because those guys are infectious and those attitudes could rub off on Dwight and make him rethink his mentality.
That in mind, I think the soonest we'd pick a PG would be in the 2nd round or undrafted FA. This is a team needs a veteran leader at PG and there are some quality ones in FA. I'm not ruling out Nash who said he'll consider anyone who calls. ...and I'm not ruling out Jameer staying for 1 year knowing that he could be traded during the season. Andre Miller and Jason Kidd are out there too. So I'm scratching off PG in Round 1.
SG value is not good at 19 unless for some snowballs chance in hell that Terence Ross is there. If there, he's near the top of my wish list.
The PF options are not all that great. I don't consider PJ3 a PF. Sullinger is not the best fit next to Dwight, imo we need a better defender and a guy with an offensive game that is not so post dominant. Honestly would rather draft a C like Melo and play him at PF.
SF has strong positional value at 19. There are a lot of intriguing options, but the guy at the very top of this list for me is Royce White. His combination of being physically imposing and having a well rounded game has me sold.
So my Top 5...
1. Royce White - Best candidate in my mind who could "help" us defend and attack Lebron/Durant right away. Surprised nobody else has him as their top pick.
2. Moe Harkless - Fluid player who is a natual. I think his best is way ahead of him. The payoff could be huge.
3. Terence Jones - A little bit mechanical in his movements, but plays the kind of defense I'd like to add and is effective without being a ball hog.
4. Quincy Miller - Effortless game on the offensive side of the ball, but I want more defense.
5. Fab Melo - His defense can help us now, but he also has an emerging offensive game that's piques my interest.
6. Perry Jones - Too much bust to make me put him higher, but enough boom to get him in my Top 6.
7. Jeff Taylor - Apparently a very good defender, but I don't see high upside. I wouldn't mind him even as a specialist though.

Re: 2012 Orland Magic NBA draft thread ...
People don't have Royce high because he plays the only position we have a surplus of, is a weak defender, and needs to dominate the ball to be effective. Good player, bad fit here IMO.

Royce White is really starting to grow on me, great handles/body control/footwork and he's a pf.

Hypothetically say we keep the same roster and include white:
Jameer
JJ
Ryno
Royce
D12
Could be a fun team to watch

He could play the 3 or 4 doesn't really matter much but he does have the length and enough quickness to be average guarding 3s. Royce doesn't need to dominate the ball to be effective and I think he would be a great fit here. White would give us a player who would be able to create and prolly have the best vision on the team.

They would swap on defense obviously.
