There is definitely risk in the draft/prospects. I know everyone is high on OKC..but busts happen. I'm not sure how you can say Bynum is a risk and the draft is not.

The risk is not equal. You know that. Bynum has a long history of injury as evidence. You can't equate that kind of risk to the risk of Houston's prospects being busts.

I was making a point that his basketball career is not even close to his highest priority, and that's why it was obvious he would not ever come here. People with drive/passion often give up a lot in life to further their careers... Fran is not one of those people. His desire peaked a long, long time ago. He reached the level where he wanted to be within his comfort zone and stayed there. He does not care enough to take his game to the next level.

We're not missing anything. You have a valid point, so do we. A basketball career seems to be Fran's priority, just a basketball career in Spain. He gave up a lot to further his career in Spain. Playing in the NBA isn't the be all end all.

The Gasol deal from last year was to make a run with Lowry/Nene/Gasol.

New year, new players, new plan.

Houston is willing to offer:

Toronto pick +

Pick One:
Jones
White
Lamb

+

Pick One:
Morris
Parsons
Motiejunas
Kmart

+

Pick One:
BBDavis
Jrich
Hedo
Duhon
QRich

For a rental of Dwight Howard. If you can beat that deal with LAL, LAC or whomever, then do it.

Welcome back Daryl Morey, we missed you.

Bynum, minus his uncertain health, is really the only true back to the basket center in the league. He has been tutored by Jabbar for years and now he has a more refined game. He is in the position to go to a team he can call his own. One year with the Magic making him the center piece may be all it takes to get him long term. Also because of his still young age he could grow with Nicholson and any other young piece we put next to him. If we have a chance to get him and move out out long term contracts that puts us in the position to go after Ellis next summer and maybe even CP3.

Point being is we would be reloading versus rebuilding and it may be a better long term result.

It seems many magic fans forget how hard it has been to replace Shaq since he left. It took Howard until 2008 to actually be considered in Shaq's shoes. That is 12 years from the time Shaq left. I do not think Magic fans are prepared to last 12 more years for another future. SO you go and get the future now in Bynum and make him the team.

Awesome post.

You do not have something like this get leaked and risk upsetting your roster like you did last year with the botched CP3 trade.

I imagine this is going to end up being our trading partner whether Magic fans like it or not.

Good point. A sign of possible extension talks with Bynum not going well too.

The Houston buffet.
If that's the case keep it. If Orlando is able to land Bynum and Gasol, they'll find another taker for Gasol.

Don't forget Gasol has a 15% trade kicker on his contract.

Props to you man. This is exactly why I have high hopes of us doing a Bynum package. It makes sense to trade an All-Star for an All-Star in the same position. Guards will always come and we have enough forwards. Centers are easily the hardest positions to fill.

Nice to see there are some Magic fans who see we can get Bynum and still build a solid team around him at the same time.

(Won't quote the whole thing cuz it's too big

You sure about your offer ? I mean the salaries have to work you know. We can't just go ahead and get Lamb/Morris/Toronto pick for Dwight/Hedo for example

K-Mart first of all should be included in every deal. 2 Rookies should be reasonable, as you guys were offering all 3 at the draft. And take back 2 bad contracts, one big-Jrich, one small-Duhon
Something along these lines wouldn't be bad for both sides.

The kicker is a joke. It was negotiated by agents who didn't know the CBA.

Max contract players cannot exceed the max contract with a kicker so essentially it is null and void.

Oh no, Brooklyn might not wanna make another run at Dwight :( Damn ..
Jarrod N Rudolph ‏@JRudolphSports
Chasing the right deal for Dwight has caused the Nets some stress and alienated Brook Lopez. I'm not sure they'll make another run at Dwight
Jarrod N Rudolph ‏@JRudolphSports
If Lopez can improve his rebounding, defense and FG percentage, they may decided to stick with him long-term.

 Really? Turning things around now? If anything, Henny should never deal with Brooklyn again

Bynum couldn't play and integral role in a championship team, even with a perimeter player like Kobe, and a partner in the post like Gasol. You guys want to pair him up with someone like Ellis in Orlando and expect to win a championship ? please.

BTW - Bynum 24 years old, Nicholson 22 y.o., O'Quinn 22 y.o., Ayon 27 y.o. wtf?

This would be our front court rotation for many many years if we could get Bynum long term.

Now add Ellis possibly to the mix 26 years old. And there you have a team to grow together for 5 to 7 years minimum.

If you actually watched the Lakers you would've seen Bynum was not involved within the offense nearly as much as he should have been. The only knock on Bynum is his injuries - there is no way you can discredit his game.

Bynum/Lamb/White/Parsons/Kmart + 2 picks and I'm happy... But yeah that's impossible.
End of the Story.
