To the Magic's defense, you can't do any big moves if Dwight is leaving anyways. Why would we trade for someone like Ellis if Dwight has shown us that he does not intend to resign ?

This.
If the magic make trades for players the Dwight wants and he still leaves, we're stuck with them and their contracts. Would slow the rebuilding process. I can understand why hennigan wouldn't want to do that.
let paid professionals do their job, don't you try and do it for them...

eh, who wouldn't you trade on this roster for Ellis, who you could also just view as an expiring contract?

No, just watching "The Three Stooges" again. I get mixed feelings when I see Dwight now. Especially when he tells the little kid to pass the ball.

Nice to see the Magic finally hire a head coach in Jacque Vaughn. One exec tells PBD that Vaughn is very good with the X&O's.

About ?
If he's insinuating that he'd stay if he had a good team. Management (Otis) really drove the team into the ground and handcuffed it from making moves. Players of Dwight's caliber don't want to waste the prime years of their career playing next to Hedo, J-Rich, and Duhon.
The Magic have had 8 years to build a sustainable force, like SAS, but they never have. I think D12 looks at other front offices and thinks to himself, if they had him, they wouldn't have squandered an opportunity to build a perennial contender. We've only been contenders for 1 out of 8 years of his career.
So I think D12 doesn't trust the front office to make the necessary moves to get guys that want to play their hearts out. I genuinely believe he opted in to give the Magic more time to make it happen. But it's tough to sell a guy like D12 on the idea of waiting ANOTHER year on the mere possibility of signing free agents like Monta. As a fan, I'm as frustrated as he is and I can't believe in 8 years we couldn't find D12 a decent enough side kick.
I'm not condoning D12's behavior or approach to this whole situation. But I do agree with his frustration with the front office. It makes no sense when your front office approaches you and gives you an ultimatum of sign an extension in ORL and play with Hedo and J-Rich or we trade you to LA to play with Nash, Kobe, and Pau or BRK with D-Will, Joe, and Crash. It's a no-brainer. The Magic have to pull moves to prove to D12 that they're serious about winning. Trouble is that the assets are so depleted from the previous regime.
At this point D12 is saying that talk is cheap and I agree. If the Magic are serious about rolling into next season with D12, then get him some help. If you can't, then trade him and let's start this rebuild.

And this is really interesting stuff. Fegan kind of blaming the Magic for the leak of the meeting...
Steve Kyler
Wow... thats an interesting response from Dan Fegan to ESPN on whether he was the source of comments surrounding Dwight Howard and the Magic....
"On the morning prior to Wednesday's supposedly confidential meeting between Dwight Howard and Rob Hennigan, there were media reports stating a meeting was taking place later that same day," wrote agent Dan Fegan of LaGardere Unlimited in an email. "Prior to the actual meeting, Dwight's business manager and I met with Rob, reminded him that we had not requested the meeting, had been reluctant to take it and were concerned that the Magic had leaked that a meeting was taking place.
"Both during and after the meeting, we continued to get communications from the media telling us that they had confirmation that the meeting was occurring and/or had taken place. After the meeting, some media requested comments on information they allegedly already had on what had taken place in the meeting. I want to stress that none of the information the reporters had about the meeting at this point came from us.
"After receiving these media inquiries, I called Rob and left several messages expressing concern that what had occurred in the meeting was not going to be accurately reported -- as had happened on previous occasions -- and that we were going to respond to the media inquiries to make sure that reports were accurate. To a limited extent, that is what we did."

Hmmmmm, trust the sleezy agent who has a major agenda or trust the guy who came from teams that nothing gets leaked, tough choice.

Fegan is a lying POS. I wouldn't believe him on a bet. No doubt in my mind that scumbag is driving most of this sh*t with Howard. I mean after all, Howard has a brain about the size of a Macadamia nut.

Sources close to Magic think Rob will attempt to please Dwight first. Some think he's stupid, others think it's a risk worth taking.
Chad Evans @ChadEvansNBA
Dwight apparently brought up the names Josh Smith and Stephen Jackson in the recent meeting as players they said they'd get but never did
I can't believe that! Why would Hennigan care about "pleasing" Howard at this point? Especially at the expense of the franchise? This smells like Fegan again. At least I hope it is. Because if Henny is worried about pleasing Howard, we are in deep trouble.
You know, I do not think Howard has winning as a priority anyway. I think his first priority was endorsement money. Winning a championship is not his number 1 priority. At least it doesn't seem to be.
He wants to be "the go-to-guy." Well it appears he wants to go to the Lakers now. He WILL NOT be the "go-to-guy" there. Where as he could be that guy in Houston. He doesn't seem to me to be interested in "leading" a team to a championship. He seems to be more interested in going to a team where he can "follow" that team to a title.
You're off base a little with your comments. Dwight SHOULD be mad the Magic never landed a Chris Paul or a Josh Smith. If the Magic landed Josh Smith and then convinced Dwight to stay - this team is the number #3 seed in the east. We keep forgetting, LAST YEAR's Magic team spent most of the season as the 3 seed in the east DESPITE all the BS that went on.
The Magic have zero real assets other than Dwight. They are saddled with bloated contracts for aging players. I hate the way Dwight has handled this, but I can't blame him in the least for thinking the Magic situation is looking bleak.

that's why you don't trade for crappy guys like JRich and Hedo, you trade for guys like Iggy/Monta/Gay who are expiring, or if they aren't, they're still good pieces to have on a team.
i don't understand the people who think this team is unable to make moves that can be good for the team with or without Dwight. and i don't understand why the team hasn't made more effort on that front.

True - there's zero reason to make a move to try and appease Dwight. That ship sailed last year.
The Magic had the chance to make smarter moves before the Arenas, JRich, Hedo debacle. that's when they lost Dwight. Those two trades are up there with the worst I've seen in the entire NBA over the past few years.

The only reason Dwight wants to leave is because that is what his endorsers want. All other reasons given are bull ****. Anyone that believes different is naive.

If Dwight just does what his endorsers want, why did he waive his ETO?
