Not possible. There can be only one option year per contract.

Ahhh, I see.

Last year it was on May 30, which coincided with game 2 of the Eastern Conference Finals.

Do some research...

Larry Coon, ESPN.com
July 11, 2012: The Lakers traded a 2013 first-round pick, a 2015 first-round pick, two second-round picks (in 2013 and 2014) and cash to Phoenix for Steve Nash.

In a trade that was widely viewed as a coup for the Lakers, the team acquired one of the premier point guards of the millennium (albeit the 38-year-old-version) for what was thought to be a collection of odds-and-ends. Again, we want to focus on the 2013 pick here.

The Lakers essentially agreed to give the Suns whatever pick they end up with in 2013. If the team misses the playoffs and ends up in the lottery (with one of the top 14 picks), the pick goes directly to Phoenix. If the Lakers somehow make the playoffs, then the Cavs still get the first shot at it, and the Lakers will end up with the worst pick from among [their own, the Cavs’, the Heat’s and the Kings’ picks]. But then whichever pick the Lakers end up with would go to Phoenix.

In summary, any way you slice it, the Suns get a first-round pick from the Lakers this summer. If we project the current records to the end of the season, the Lakers would be in the lottery and likely end up with the 10th pick, and the pick would be conveyed to Phoenix. (Historians will note that the Lakers’ only visits to the lottery were in 1994 and 2005, and both times they had the 10th pick, selecting Eddie Jones and Andrew Bynum, respectively.)

So if the Lakers want to have a first-round pick in this June’s draft, they’re going to have to trade for one. Their own pick will go to either Phoenix or Cleveland (likely Phoenix), and the team will be on the outside looking in on June 27. Unless Kupchak trades for another pick, his options are limited.

If Kupchak wants to fix the team through the draft, he likely won’t have a 2013 first-round pick at his disposal.

Was going to try and pick up tix to tonights game but think it'd be more beneficial to watch the college games since we might be drafting one of the guys playing lol

If the Suns win the lottery thru the Lakers, then that would still be sweet justice.

Until Sarver does something dumb like sell the pick or trade it to the Lakers for a re-signed Earl Clark and Chris Duhon.

You say that our potential future PF is "closer in size to Shaun Livingston than he is to Bynum" like it is a good thing ;)

Even if his damaged knees don't have to bear the brunt of 300 lbs of bulk and muscle, he is still a big...with...Livingston...legs.

Anthony Davis, Joakim Noah, Marcus Camby, Tyson Chandler. Were all under 220-227 pounds coming into the league at 6'11" - 7'1" tall, but yet nobody would have complained. :-?

KG entered the league at 217. Jermaine O'Neal at 226. Bosh at 225. Larry Sanders at 220 (after 3 years in college). Dikembe was 7-1.25 barefoot and 55 years old as a rook, and he only weighed 228. Ratliff entered the league at only 214. Rasheed weighed only 230 and he entered the league at 21 compared to Noel who will be only 19.

My guess would be that Noel will enter the league at around 225 as one of the youngest players in the league.

Noel's torn ACL might have been linked to an injury he suffered during his sophomore year in high school. According to this report from The Courier-Journal, Noel fractured the growth plate in his left knee and was forced to sit out the entire season.

Instead of waiting for the knee to fully recover, the lanky forward rushed back to the court to play AAU ball during the summer. It's not a sure thing that the high school injury is the reason for the torn ACL, but complications can arise if the knee does not fully heal.

"If the leg healed awkwardly and (Noel) had a malalignment in that knee, that could predispose him to future injuries in that leg," Dr. Robin West told the Courier-Journal.

This could be major.

It is also simply speculation by a doctor who has never met Noel.

^^^^^^^^^How people completely ignore that important part of the story is beyond me....

Let's get the height out of the way first. Yes, he is only 6'0" and doesn't have the prototypical height for an NBA point guard. But when we take a look at some of the best point guards in the NBA today, I see similarities with height.

Top NBA Point Guards, 6'1" or Shorter

Ty Lawson, Denver Nuggets—5'11"

Chris Paul, Los Angeles Clippers—6'0"

Tony Parker, San Antonio Spurs—6'1"

Rajon Rondo, Boston Celtics—6'1"

Last time I checked, all of these point guards have had success in the NBA one way or another. So height is not an issue.

How you make a list like that and leave off Jameer and Ish Smith is beyond me.

But the rules say there can be 1, doesn't say when it has to be. It could be year 1. If it was an ETO it'd have to be the last year of the contract.

Tank Watch:

After losing to LAST PLACE Charlotte, we are only one game better than them in the win column. We have 3 somewhat easy teams left to play including Washington tonight. Charlotte has 5 such teams left to play. I predict that if we lose to Washington tonight we will finish the season with the worst record and the best chance at the first overall pick.

All of those guys have game changing athleticism and speed though. Burke doesn't.

I expect Burke to have a Jameer/MoWilliams/Felton type of career as a solid starter, which is still great value in this draft
