There’s a plausible path: minutes open up for Jett, TDS, and Houstan, AB steps into a 6th man role, and there’s enough depth to support Moritz through rehab. Even the incoming rookies would have a realistic shot at carving out a future role.

Honestly, I wouldn’t hate it.

No chance of this IMO.

If they do nothing but make all three draft picks, they’ll be over the first apron and I think they will do *something* to address that.

I’m expecting Moe to be declined regardless, even if he’s resigned and at least one move (free agent signing or trade) in addition to the draft.

Good point. I had assumed a decline and re-sign for Moritz as part of a “soft” run-it-back scenario.

I’d put the odds of that path around 40%. The rest likely involves using JI and/or Jett in a trade, cutting Moritz, and deploying the NT-MLE or other mechanisms to reshape the roster.

Is that fair? We rarely talk about the soft run-it-back scenario, but it feels like one of the more probable outcomes right now.

I think it's absolutely possible, but I hope it isn't the case because I don't think a team with significant expectations can reasonably rely on Jett, TDS or Houstan to fill those backup wing minutes.

that's my concern...healthy Brogdon is the best of the group, but "allow him to expire without a peep" from WAS Brogdon sounds like a different story.

I know DLo has fleas, but twice the offensive firepower off the bench as any of them...and can handle and shoot. Worth a psychiatric analysis by Mose

Schroder to Kings
DLO to Dallas
CP3 likely to a LA team (he kinda hinted to this)

That leaves Brogdon from the available PG’s that won’t cost much (however the worst of the bunch due to injuries). We can’t really afford to have another injury prone player in the backcourt.

Other notable mentions that will require the MLE

- Tyus Jones
- Tre Jones
- Ty Jerome
- NAW

CP3 and Brogdon are not real options. One is 40 and the other plays an average of like 20 games a season in the last 4 seasons.
DLO is not a player Orlando would ever target.

So hopefully Schroder can help us out here and join NBA Germany.

But yeah, Tyus/Tre Jones and Jerome are guys I'd sooner be asking about or signing first.

Good call.

What do you think it is? Centered around #2 or Fox? If you had to guess.

Apparently Schroder to the Kings is as good as inked.

You can do 2# , Vassell, Barnes and it would still be legal trade :dontknow:

edit: great call Johnny

I still think Spurs have a godly hand at play here and should just develop Harper and Castle next to Wemby. I dont think they will trade Fox out of respect, but man it looks like the better decision than getting Brown who I think is vastly overpaid and overrated.

I'd move Fox before #2...Fox is expiring and will be looking for a BIG contract and, ultimately, I like Harper better...it'd be a temporary setback, which is fine with such a young team. No reason to rush with #2 and #14 incoming and a VERY young, very exciting core growing.

I don’t think Boston is moving Brown or White, but we’ll see.

Yes, Stein/Fischer reported that Schroder to Sacramento and Russell to Dallas are basically done deals.

I’m sure things can change, but I don’t think they’ll report that unless they heard through the back channels that they had verbal agreements already.

Tyus and Tre shouldn't take the whole MLE. Is there a world where we can fit Melton and one of them into the MLE I wonder?

Wouldn't be opposed to giving Monte Morris a vet min.

Someone reported a while back that NAW to Orlando was a done deal.

That's not exactly what was said.

Marc Stein and Jake Fischer reported that Orlando was very interested in (and likely already made contact with his representation even though that's "not allowed") Alexander-Walker for their full MLE, but they also said he would have a lot of suitors willing to offer him the same contract.

It's possible at this point that Hawks may be willing to offer him even more than the MLE via a sign-and-trade because they have a TPE that's much larger than $14.1M.
