This was in the general board, it is worth sharing:

Phil Jackson says Andrew Bynum could be reduced to part-time status
Bynum has experienced knee problems the last three years, each injury different but nonetheless representing a pattern that has forced Jackson to contemplate the big picture.

It wasn't overly rosy.

"We're hopeful that this is the time he's able to start playing consistently through a season," Jackson said. "If not, we're going to have to look at Andrew as a short-minute guy, somebody like Yao Ming who's going to be limited in the amount of minutes he plays."

Bynum, 22, also has a thick medical file. He sustained a briefly dislocated left kneecap that required surgery in 2008; a torn medial collateral ligament in his right knee in 2009 that did not require surgery; and torn cartilage in his right knee that affected him in the 2010 playoffs and was operated on in July.

"If his knee doesn't hold up after having this process, then we'll have to think about what kind of minutes he can play in a career," Jackson said. "This would be a [fourth] consecutive year that things didn't go well. We're concerned.

Bynum is under contract for three more seasons and $44.7 million, though the third season is a $16.1-million team option.

He fought through his most recent injury after sustaining it in the first round of the playoffs against Oklahoma City, but admitted he had a penchant for getting hurt.

"I guess I am kind of injury-prone," he said at the time.

^^^

Exact reason why, unless LA sweetens the deal massively, Bynum for Dwight doesn't work. Gasol, picks and them taking back Hedo and Duhon are an absolute necessity.

Magic get:
Bynum
Boozer
Asik
Gibson
Charlotte 1st

Bulls get:
Pau

Lakers get:
Dwight
Hedo

Only hole on our team would be small forward so not sure this would work

I think if you put McGee back then, he would get those blocks just as easily as Russell did. Russell's athleticism was well ahead of the players of his time, and that's about it.

NO! I want no part of mr glass knee bynum on this team. I hope & pray to Jesus that the FO watches all of bynums injury vids and reject any trade involving a 30yo gaSOFT and a 23yo 7 foot Gary Coleman who has already had more injuries and surgeries than grant hill... F THAT ****.

I don't like any of the players we're hearing linked. Gasol is gonna decline in a rebuild period, Bynum has health issues and Lopez is overrated.

I can see us taking an improved Laker offer. To be honest, I'd try to send Pau to the Hornets for the Minny pick or to the Raps or Cavs. Same for Bynum. Guaranteed lottery teams for expirings and their pick. I'd probably try to send out Jameer (if not in the Laker deal) to a team like Philly for their pick, JRich to a team needing a 2 guard for their pick and JJ/Anderson for a team likely to have a late lottery/mid-first round pick.

As I've said before, if we're gonna suck, lets suck and get young and well under the cap quick. Make an exciting team with as many lottery picks as we can get in the 2012 draft and hope for Davies, Sullinger, Barnes, Rivers etc and surround them with positive vets like QRich, Big Baby, etc and fill out the rest by going after marquee free agents that suit our needs.

Sorry, just not excited by anything else I am hearing at all IF Dwight goes. A gamble-yes...but so are Bynum's knees. What stops it? Filling the Amway with a crappy team for 1-2 years won't happen.

I'm becoming more inclined to just letting Dwight walk. Let him lose the money, but we get another season from him, and another shot at a playoff run.

We would be getting back garbage for Dwight, it's not worth it.

You can't lose dwight for nothing...

my guess is, the magic could challenge him to leave 30 million on the table to sign elsewhere but it's a big risk for both sides, hence why Fegan is pushing for a trade.....could be an idle threat

I feel like we're starting to do things right. SVG/Dwight/Otis/Martins all SEEM to be on the same page now.

It's NOT $30 mil...not even close...this has been debated and explained. He will leave if it's about the money, because it's not even close to that. A ridiculously stupid gamble. They've already said they aren't letting him walk like Shaq, won't and shouldn't happen.

if we deal with LA and get Bynum AND Gasol, we need to flip the both of them for the best young assets we can find.

who are some of the pieces we could get for Bynum? (in no particular order)

Kaman + Min pick? would NOH dare?? i'd take Minny's pick ANY day of the week, because we all know it's gonna be a good one.
McGee + Washington pick?
Jamison + Cleveland pick?
Perkins + Harden
DeMarcus Cousins
Jordan + Bledsoe
Rondo
Love
Curry

i don't know if any of those teams would want Bynum and the risk attached to him, but i would much prefer their assets than him.

Daniel Orton still needs more time to develop.
Orton missed his entire rookie season due to knee surgery last year, and Stan Van Gundy isn't ready to rely on him to contribute in the rotation. "Daniel's very inexperienced, and he's not ready to be thrown into a game right now." It's safe to say that he's not going to come into fantasy value at any point in the near future.

Guy's please don't say i'm crazy for saying this, but i honestly think the Clippers are a potential spot for a Dwight trade. Obviously it would be a mid season trade, but can u imagine getting back Blake, Jordan, and Bledsoe and picks in a package for Dwight J-Rich and Hedo? Not sure if the clips could resist pairing Dwight and Paul heading into their Primes. Lakers who?

living in socal..i can honestly tell you, Blake Griffin, after Kobe is the King of LA, he's insanely popular, he will not be traded...

You don't think Dwight could be bigger than Blake in Socal?

We're on the same page. If we lose out I honestly think we could get the Minny pick for Gasol. Also Bynum for Cleveland or Toronto. Those are the 3 teams to target. I'd chance my hand on Jameer to Philly which will either be in lottery or 8th seed. Also, go after sending JRich to a team needing a 2 and I think Ryan Anderson/Redick could lead to a decent mid-lottery pick.

Orlando, Minny, Cavs, Philly, Lakers(Dwight trade), Knicks?(Jrich), Rockets? (Ryno/JJ). 7 first round picks+Orton+Clark+this years rookies+vets like Q and Big Baby (positive locker influences)

If we lose Dwight we'll need to find another franchise player (a beast center with all time great athleticism and defense would be nice *sigh*). To do that we need to get lucky in the lottery. It won't happen by trade unless Otis can somehow get us a bad teams unprotected 1st. I don't think Otis is creative enough to pull that off though.
