If the Lakers need a 3rd team then it sounds like the issue is assets to us and not that Bynum wouldn't re-sign here. That makes sense from what we heard the deal offered was and straight bs that we would be taking back salary and get no picks. Nets are blah, and Rockets seem to be driving this bus right now. Well Mr. Hennigan, I see you.

Most likely it will be a 3 team trade. Rockets are probably afraid that Dwight will leave for Dallas. With Bynum saying he wouldn't mind being in Houston it will probably be a safer bet for them.

What is this saying?

He is saying Lakers need a 3rd team to do deal
Houston can do a direct trade or involve the Lakers
Nets can do direct trade but it's tricky

The Houston Rockets have joined the Los Angeles Lakers and the Brooklyn Nets as the most serious potential trade partners with the Orlando Magic on a Dwight Howard deal, according to sources close to the process.

Sources told ESPN.com that the Rockets are discussing a multitude of trade scenarios with the Magic, offering to serve both as the team that would acquire Howard in a direct trade between the clubs and also as a third team that would participate in a trade that lands Howard with the Lakers and brings All-Star center Andrew Bynum to Houston.

....

Sources say that new Magic general manager Rob Hennigan might feel more comfortable taking back a package of youngsters, recent draftees and future first-round draft picks -- while shedding some long-term salary as well -- than taking on Bynum as Howard's replacement and facing a similar challenge on convincing him to commit to the franchise long-term like the Magic have dealt with for months with Howard.

Donatas not being available troubles me. He needs to be part of this deal.

Sorry, but if Toronto's pick is part of the deal...it's instantly light years ahead of any Nets deal. Even if there isn't cap relief involved, even though I'm pretty sure there would be at least a little.

I don't understand why you keep saying "it'd be done by now". Maybe it's because we're not used to having a smart GM? An intelligent guy explores many avenues before making a decision.

An intelligent guy also plays teams against each other.

He keeps saying that Nets's deal is imminent and is not dead, my bet is that he prefers Nets's deal than LAL/HOU.

Of course he would. He's from New York and would doubtlessly move back there to rep himself as a Dwight insider. If it doesn't happen is credibility - what little he has - is shot.

Marc Stein reporting the LAL/HOU/ORL rumored deal on Sportscenter right now... it's out there
