I'm not saying QRich is a great defender. That's not what im debating. I'm saying that you're getting ahead of yourself by calling Liggins a defensive specialist. I'm aware of what draft experts said, but that was in college. Let him prove himself in the NBA before calling him a specialist. Now giving Liggins an opportunity to play is a whole different argument.

called him a defensive specialist because that is where he has made his mark in ball and where he would have a chance in the NBA. He isnt an offensive player like say JR Smith or similar. His best strengths are on defense.

Without the fact it's the Lakers being mentioned in the deal:

How the heck does a Bynum+Goudelock+1st+1st+taking on Duhon+Richardson lose to a NJ deal of injured Lopez+injured Brooks+the same extras? Heck if Big Baby is such a problem perhaps we'll take his lard ass too. Point is where is the big divergence that makes NJ's deal so good?

Top 10 pick, rockets top 15 pick, okur and humps expirings, Brooks is way better than goudelock, Bynum is overpaid and due for more.

Wait a minute wait a minute? Where the heck does a top 10 pick come from? Who the heck is giving a top ten pick? It's certainly not the Nets with Dwight and Deron in the East. Rockets top 15 pick is that stunning value over the Lakers' picks? A. Bynum is an all-star C. Take the Lakers' bias away it's not even close. Brooks is injured, he's a SG who had a stretch of what three weeks of good games. What you think Lopez will get nothing on the open market?

Nets have the 5th worst record in the league right now, and the deadline isn't for another month. Dwight/Deron with a gutted team is not going to make THAT much of a difference with only 20 games left, even if they get to .500, that is still about top 10.

If we go get just Bynum we are essentially the same team, no wiggle room or way to improve, we would just be substituting Dwight for Bynum. The Nets deal allows us WAY more flexibility.

Plus the Lakers don't have the expirings like the Nets do. The Lakers can't absorb Turk.

agree. after we get most of the assets from the nets at the deadline they might only win half their games until they can complete their team in the offseason. A top 10 pick is very realistic

They're three games out of the playoffs with a huge number of injuries. A Dwight-Deron-Morrow-Turk or whatever team they can assemble will make the playoffs. There are more than 20 games left after March to make the playoffs and Deron will play like an animal to make it.

If anything Turk has value. They can't take Turk and Duhon/BBD. Those last two have no value at all.

Not they won't.

And even if they do, that pick will still be higher than what you guys could give. Plus taking back Duhon or Turk.

Face it man, a Dwight/Bynum swap alone isn't happening.

Clippers acquired CP3, K-Mart, and now looking to get JR Smith. They're basically building around their star talent the way I envisioned that we would.

Quick question for you guys, how reliable is Brian Schmitz?

Brian Schmitz
@MagicInsider Brian Schmitz
If rumors true that DHoward will not re-sign with L.A., Magic might let him walk. Magic don't want Brook Lopez, healthy or otherwise

"Aaron Gordon will cost Henny's job by Dec 2016." Predicted Dec 2014.

"O'Quinn will have a longer and more successful NBA career than Nicholson." Predicted Jun 2012. Verified on Dec 2014.

Posturing for what, to get a better deal out of NJ?

I actually think they would prefer him walking to them in the offseason.

He is no insider.

As a side note though, if the Magic don't take that New Jersey deal near the deadline and decide to just let him walk I will no longer support this organization. That piled on top of all the other bull we've had to deal with plus the fact that Otis is still employed would be too much.

i guess we would prefer to start daniel orton at center? if dwight doesn't commit then lopez and marshon plus draft picks and salary relief is the move to make. that said i expect the nets and magic to begin trade talks next month. we can use dallas as leverage b/c dwight and deron can walk there next season. Also LA can provide some leverage

This is how I expected you guys to act. It doesn't make sense to watch him walk when you can get some compensation for him.

I don't see how LA can be used as leverage when Dwight has said he won't re-up there. Dallas is only a factor in the offseason, but come on Dwight's already shot down two premiere destinations in the Bulls and Lakers in favor of the Nets. I'm willing to bet he'd do the same to Dallas.
