On the call with DeVos, GM Otis Smith, CEO Alex Martins and other members of the DeVos family, Howard stated that his preference was to stay in Orlando beyond this season, according to a person familiar with the conversation. Howard implored the executives and DeVos to "trust" that he will stay, the person said.

Howard "wants that big market," and that he's become convinced that, in terms of marketing opportunities and global exposure, "there's no place in the world he can do it like New York." Howard's contract renewal with Adidas, a basketball marketing source told CBSSports.com, could exceed Derrick Rose's estimated $200 million deal if he winds up in the New York market.

Who needs Basketball money.. it's all about them shoe deals..

Oh, and I just want to put something out there. I don't think any details are gonna come out, especially from the Nets side until a deal is done. Just like how the D-Will trade went down. Billy King seems to be hush hush when it comes to trades. I was at the Nets game Monday vs Milwaukee and I actually spoke to one of the Nets beat writers. He basically told me......nothing. The Nets are not leaking ANY information and keeping this very secret. He honestly has no idea whats going on either.

The funny thing is, I think there is a good piece of Dwight that wants to stay here, wants a little help, and would stay possibly if the help came. HOWEVER, he is being completely puppeteered by his agents/people and doing it all wrong. There has to be a PLAN put into place on both sides (opt-in for a year, you recruit Monta or JSmith, we will free up caproom, if we don't then feel free to walk next summer). He isn't doing that. His agents aren't allowing him to do that. He has to have a tiny bit of sense that we can't just "roll the dice" with all of the signs. Hell, him not committing is the biggest sign that he is going to walk. Why not just commit if not? I always thought this was somewhat a pressure play to get himself help (ala Kobe years back)....but I think somewhere along the way it turned into him just becoming a huge pawn for his agent to make money in NYC.
