Honestly I think you should make a separate thread for the petition alone! Keep it going

Does he honestly have a chance at winning a ring here with this current roster? It's not likely, and because of Otis's past moves, the Magic are unable to make other moves that can improve this roster to prove to Dwight that this team will be competitive in the future. Dwight looks at NJN and sees an all-star point guard and lots of room for the team to add role players.
And don't get me wrong. I'm with you on that Dwight is being rash by bolting after one first round exit. But I think Dwight looks at his future in both situations and doesn't see it happening here.
It's not going to happen with the Nets either.
Also Otis has positioned this team to be well under the cap in 2 years. Maybe as soon as next year with a few trades.

LOL, it jumped from 14 to 19 signatures in the last 3 minutes......
You know what we should do, though?
Rent out a billboard in Orlando (similar to the Chris Paul one), all black background, with only two words in white: "Fire Otis.".
THAT will make a statement.

I have to take Otis' side on this. Over the last three seasons we have made the finals, and conference finals.Of super stars like Chris Paul, Melo, Amare, Wade, Bosh, Lebron only LeBron has done it and he had to pair up with Wade and Bosh to do it. Over the past three season only two franchises have won more games than us. As much as we may think Otis isn't doing his job, he sure did it a sight better than the other general managers with the other super stars. He has always tried to put the best product on the floor. But we aren't the Lakers guys. We don't get super stars for scraps. It is what it is. Dwight wants to leave, then so be it.

Shouldn't they have convinced Dwight to stay by firing Otis?

maybe if Otis had given him SOME LEGIT FREAKING HELP we wouldn't be relying on Dwight making his free throws and playing the perfect game.
heck, when Dirk had his cold moments in the finals he at least had Jason Terry backing him up.
here's another thing - if Dwight comes back this season and is capable of making FTs because of his new FT coach, then why the heck didn't the FO bring him in a long time ago?
GTFO if you want to pretend Otis made winning moves. the only reason Otis' team made the finals was because he was lucky enough to have Dwight doing ALL THE FREAKING WORK.
Who said anything about Dwight playing a perfect game? Maybe making your FTs at the end of games would help though. You know. Something we needed from our "leader" in that one finals game that would have sealed the win and took the series to a 2-2 tie. Or how about the 2nd game where he also missed FTs late that could have tied the game. Lee of course missed that layup.
Seriously. Get off Howard's johnson.

Re: Official Speculation & Free Agency Thread (Part IV)
Watching some of the clips posted from Dwight... man... I'm not mad at him... I'm just not... I can tell from his voice and posture... I can tell he loves this city, but it was a hard decision for him to make... I respect that he owned up to it and announced it... got it off his mind... came clean and was honest about it... and that's what I've been asking for the past few days essentially (quit bullsh*tting and tell the truth, remember?)
It kind of sounded like... I don't know the right analogy or metaphor... but it's like almost disappointing your parents with a tough decision (we've all been there haven't we?)... but at the end of the day, it's his life, and his decision... and he loves the city, but outside the game of basketball... that's straight
professionally though... he's ready to leave... and it's cool... and i'm upset that the front office completely dropped the ball (Otis)... that's where all my anger and sadness and angst is towards... Dwight... good luck, thanks for at least telling us... it sucks.. you're probably going to get booed... live with it, it's a part of sports... but no one is going to hate you just because you have another jersey on, except when you're playing us... at least you didn't trash our city and organization like Shaq and T-Mac did... you at least kept it real. Later Dwight, adios. On to the future! Magic's next chapter. It's a bright one
Changes will be made.

The trade Otis made for Carter and Anderson was a step up, I don't care what any one says. We ran into a Celtics team that was playing top notch ball and we still were a play here or there from making that a 7 game series.
well, then, it's not really a step up is it? it was a step backwards. i'm not going to deny we weren't playing some blisteringly great ball in the 2nd half of the season, but we found ourselves getting knocked out by a stronger team, same as in the finals. they were stronger teams because they were able to stop Dwight, and we had nobody else backing him up to keep the team competitive.
you can say we learnt from that mistake and tried to address it with VC/JRich/Arenas, but if that's not a legit 2nd option for Dwight. anyone trying to say otherwise is kidding themselves.
Idunkonyou2 wrote:And yeah we lost to the Hawks last year. The Mavs lost to the Warriors when they were the 1st seed with 68 wins and an MVP season from Dirk. You act as if since we have Howard we should be in the finals every year, LOL! Maybe you and Howard should get a condo together because obviously you have never failed at anything in your life, while us normal people learn from our failures and move on.
we shouldn't be losing in the first round to a team we steamrolled TWICE in previous playoffs.
lol, how many times do you need to fail before you learn to look where you're going? that's not normal, that's called being a loser.

Yeah, from the way it sounds, he doesn't plan on even moving.
He said that he's keeping his house here, and is going to keep living there. I don't know if he meant it, but still.......
I'm finding it harder and harder to be mad at him.....
I mean, if we are all this pissed at Otis, imagine how he must feel?

Excellent post.
But I think a lot of the credit for winning so much needs to be given to SVG and his coaching staff. Dude knows how to maximize his talents (as mediocre as they are). And as stubborn and as much of a control freak SVG with his offensive play-calling... his focus on defense and playing smart balanced basketball has gone a long way in this team being disciplined for the most part... and WINNING a lot of games... imagine if SVG had better talent, another TRUE star that was paired with Dwight.

So I guess you are calling Jordan a loser, Dirk a loser, Shaq a loser, Hakeem a loser, so on and so forth. It took those guys several years to win their first titles and the perfect moves to make those titles happen.
Unfortunately you remind me of today's player. You think everything should be given to you and nothing should be earned. 99% of the time it doesn't work that way, not in the NBA or in life for that matter.
