Lol at blaming the Magic for not building around him properly. Pure comedy. Dwight not being good enough as a go to guy means the Magic were at fault.

Maybe if Dwight was actually a legitimate superstar or top 2-3 player like he is wrongly hyped up to be, then we would be contenders or have even won a few. Problem is Dwight averages a laughable 18ppg in his career. Shaq, Hakeem, Kareem all laugh when people talk Dwight up to be a dominant center.

Magic now need to step back, look at Nets deal and realize they are trading a Hall of Fame center. And re-open bidding.

Reportedly they (DWill & D12) spoke about this 4 years ago ... about the time the Magic were in the ECFs/Finals.

The Dwight fiasco would not have been a fiasco were it not for that team up plan, thus the Nets only resigning.

If he was just upset about being here, it would have been "I'll sign with a contender" not I'll ONLY sign in Brooklyn".

Sure, they talked about it. But I wouldn't say that was the end all be all. I still believe that had the Magic created a perennial contender in ORL, like the Nets are doing now, D12 would have extended. Magic never gave it to him though.

If that wasn't the start of anything, why would D12 last off-season demand to be traded there? Last off season they hardly were a "perennial contender" <-- not that they are now or even with D12.

I'm not downplaying his desire to be the center of attention. He wants to go a place where he can be the alpha dog. He likes the bright lights. But D-Will + D12 is a contending team in the East as well. The Nets used its cap space to get Joe Johnson, used the draft pick to get Gerald Wallace. They were a bad team last year, but so were the Clippers the year before they got CP3.

Yes but it isn't simply "jameer BBD Lopez" for 3-5 years. We would have draft picks, developing rookies, as well as a good amount of cap space available to go after big free agents. I think people are losing a bit of sight on this. Not saying I like this trade necessarily, I think the Houston one is a much much better one....but I do think people aren't looking far enough into the future (and it isn't really all that far)

What cap space? We're not getting rid of any bad deals in this trade aside from J-Rich, and we will be taking a much bigger bad contract with the new bloated Brook Lopez deal. He'll get at least $12 mil per year for 4 or 5 seasons. Just terrible. If we're getting cap space out of this, I'd be thrilled. But we're not even getting that.

Umm....the cap space of almost $30mil once Hedo, Q, Duhon, JJ, JRich, Dwight are gone? We would basically only have Lopez + Jameer + BBD on board...along with some smaller rookie type contracts. Lopez is around $14mil, Jameer around $6.5 and BBD around $6.5. That's close to $30mil in cap space...

I would root for a 20 win team if it was fun to watch and you could see as yourre watching them that the team has a bright future filled with developing young players.

But if they plan on trotting out a starting lineup of Nelson-Redick-Turkoglu-Davis-Lopez. With 50M in salary commited next offseason and nothing to look forward to other than a probable late lottery pick? Forget it.

Deron Williams was open today discussing Dwight's urge to join the Brooklyn project. More than he has ever been. "I think he likes the market,'' Williams said today before practicing with the U.S. Olympic Team at UNLV. "It's a lot different from Orlando. He definitely wants to play with me. We talked about playing together for years. That's a big part of it as well. The last Olympics, we talked about it. That was four years ago.''

Which is why he defended Lebron so hard.

OK so Deron+Lopez+Brooks is good enough for the 12th seed in the east.

Arguably we would be worse than that because we don't have anyone nearly as good as Deron

If you're first 2 moves going into a rebuild are letting Ryan go for $8-9 mill and signing Lopez to a near max deal, then there is something very wrong with management and the rebuild will be longer than you want it to be.

What you're talking about is cap space in 2 years. Our goal in a Howard deal should be to have cap space by next summer. Basically what you're saying, is let's trade Howard and get a crappy center for a little bit less than we're paying Howard....just to get J-Rich off the books. I'd rather keep Howard, let him walk, and just pay J-Rich instead of giving freaking Brook Lopez for $14 mil a season. Our cap number is better long term if just don't do anything at all. J-Rich is going to make less than half of what Lopez would make, and would be off the books sooner.

So like I said, we don't get cap space from this. We actually lose it by getting rid of J-Rich and getting back Lopez....am I right?

I wouldn't say I would stop rooting for them. I would stop supporting them. I won't buy tickets to no games, won't waste my time watching them on TV all the time. Won't buy merch. I probably only missed under 10 games last two years.

If they trade for Lopez, I may only watch 5-6 games when they play the Pistons or Memphis as I like watching those teams. So, lets just say I go from a Diehard avid fan to someone that has better things to do than waste time on a poorly run organization.
