What the hell, Andrei Kirilenko? After opting out of his contract with the Minnesota Timberwolves, which would have paid him $10 million during the 2013-2014 season, AK47 has decided to sign with the Brooklyn Nets—for just $3.1 million over two years.

The 32-year-old forward is by no means the player he was back in 2004 when he earned himself an all-star selection, but he still put together a very good season in 2012—12 points, six rebounds, three assists, and 1.5 steals per game is nothing to shrug at—and now he's making less money than Corey Brewer. I think we have to assume that Nets owner Mikhail Prokhorov has Kirilenko's family locked away in a remote Siberian prison.

Maybe he didn't want to live in Minnesota anymore ? Maybe he has enough money and just wants to win a championship?

AK47 on July 1st wrote:"I'm sure I can play at a high level for three seasons more, at minimum," he said. "After that, maybe, I'll be forced to think about the veteran minimum." "I want to sign a longer-term contract. That doesn't mean I'm definitely leaving Minnesota, I really like it here. I like everything, except the length of the deal."

Mikail is the type of guy that has the power to give him whatever he wants. Whether thats thats ensuring large edorsement deals, entertainment contracts, or even resturaunts in his namesake. He has the money to do pretty much anything in Russia.

Quick read from the NBA Geek on the ranking debate. The Had some cool things to say. If you have time, the radio spot is pretty cool to hear.

Update: Here is the original audio from Marc Daniels site. Link

Pretty cool stuff when you get to see the inside of their draft room during the draft.

I have a sneaking suspicion that this footage was doctored. They cut the room and went to david stern as he was just about to announce the 1st pick and someone in the room beat Stern to the punch by a split second. From production standpoint, which would be more interesting to include in the video? Watching the ESPN footage or the reaction of the room as Bennett was selected and showing whoever guessed the pick? Because it did not happen. Showing surprised people in the room would reflect badly. Later on, in a very similar moment, they show the footage of the room as Trey Burke was selected as they are supposed to do.

Portland just wanted to give the impression of control.

"Aaron Gordon will cost Henny's job by Dec 2016." Predicted Dec 2014.

"O'Quinn will have a longer and more successful NBA career than Nicholson." Predicted Jun 2012. Verified on Dec 2014.

I don't know about doctored, but they originally published the video a week ago and took it down in order to censor their white board, which apparently showed mccollum as backup pg/sg after selection, as well as positions of need.

Its not doctored. The guy who said bennetbdid so after stern open his mouth and formed the an syllable, it was totally noticeable.l and he was early on saying I since stern held the syllable so long. Even if I read too much into that, they all had twitter on and saw the tweets likely.

Wonder why there was no video for their Crabbe pick.

On the contrary, I believe he has a way to pay the rest of the $$$ somehow, somwhere else, tax free...

I'd love to see VO win rookie of the year this season. I hope he gets the minutes to do so. Especially early on as it seems most ROY winners usually get off to a hot start. I understand the franchise isn't going to re-arrange everything just so Vic can be ROY, but it would still be nice to see.

I call it "tax heaven", you know, those ṕlaces where millionaires like the Net's owner move money at will, far from NBA control.

The guy could've also been following @WojYahooNBA on Twitter, where the picks leaked before official announcement.

AK47 basically opted out of his guaranteed 11 million in Minnesota to take 3 million and back up Paul Pierce.
