Phoenix has 1 more win than they do.

We won't catch either of them but if LA can be bumped from #2 to #3 that helps our odds of their 2019 pick by a lot.

I dunno who has the tie breaker between them though.

The odds that the 2nd worst team goes top-3 is 55.8%, and the odds the 3rd worst goes top-3 is 46.9%.

In other words, Phoenix and LAL would essentially be both the 2 1/2 worst teams. The result would be the Lakers has a 51.4% chance to go top-3.

An interesting side point: "Should the average number not be an integer, a coin flip is then used to determine which team or teams receive the extra combination. The result of the coin flip is also used to determine who receives the earlier pick in the event that neither of the tied teams wins one of the first three picks via the lottery."

Note: this is all fully relevant to the Magic, Sixes, and Knicks as well in the 4/5/6 race.

Update on standings:

The Magic is a full game worse than the Sixers and Knicks.
The Magic is a full two games worse than the Kings.
The Magic is two and a half games worst than the T-wolves.

The Magic is (an insurmountable) 5 1/2 games better than the Suns. Or: the Magic cannot be more than the 4th worst team.

8 games left, we can't afford to win more than 2 games. Both Nets games, the rest should all be a loss. That would put us at 29-53.
