Behold the power of getting to the line.

Paolo's has basically a league average TS% despite only making 6/21 from 3PT so far.

His free throw rate is currently more than double the NBA average :o

He help deliver us Paolo last season. If we get Wembanyama next season, we should consider a Mosely statue.

Some coaches are too prideful to make tank moves.

I'm not judging Mosley until next season. Respectfully the team is has now 5 rotational players injured and the 3rd youngest team in the NBA.

We were projected to win 27.5 by Vegas before the season. We'll probably end up closer to our win total last season at this rate.

Rook ranked #1 in the rookie ranking. I will say this, the way the article started, they really didn’t have to do that to him. Anyway, congrats Paolo.

Paolo will hopefully impress even more as his shooting improves over the season.

As of today, Pauolo has the 30th highest scoring average at 21.8 PPT (tied with Bradley Beal).

Unfortunately, of the 30 players ahead of him only two have a FG percentage worse than his 44%.
Those players are Trae Young at 38.5% (lol) and Anfernee Simons at 43.7%.

I clicked your link and that's slightly misleading. LeBron is at 43.9, Harden at 44.1, etc. There are a lot of people clustered around 44%. He definitely needs to improve his jump shooting (or else we're screwed) but I don't think his counting stats are an inefficient embarrassment like a lot of rookies.

Thanks, I missed Lebron. My eyes usually gloss over when I see his name. Maybe that's why.

This guy is exactly what the Magic needed. Hell of a player. That ballhandling and passing at that size is incredible. Weltman and Hammond made the right choice. Imagine if they have drafted Chet Holmgren or Jabari Smith ouch. Chet and Jabari have great potential and can be top players but they don´t have IMHO the ability to be the fulcrum of your offense like Banchero.

The irony of Banchero being our best post entry passer when everyone wants him to get more post touches himself!

He's 100% right and for someone with such a high BBIQ his opinion means something. It's clear this team fights and has poise when things aren't going well, keeping them competitive throughout the game. Another thing that I think is really important is how positive they seem to be around each other. I think they generally like each other so team chemistry will be something to watch as management figures out how to finish building this team.

I like what Draymond said about our confidence being different with Paolo out there.

Our team FTA going up this year (that Paolo helps with) probably contribute to how we stay in all these close games. Less likely to get blown out of the water if you can muck it up and get to the line. Of course we still aren't going to win without shooting.

From Zach Lowe's article today:

Banchero is running 27 pick-and-rolls per 100 possessions, about the same as Jamal Murray and Paul George, per Second Spectrum tracking. That's ridiculous for a rookie big man. Banchero has a crafty off-the-bounce game, and he maps the floor a beat ahead of the action:

Orlando has scored 1.120 points per possession out of Banchero isolations -- 39th among 118 ball handlers who have recorded at least 10 isos, per Second Spectrum data. Producing under such a heavy burden -- on a rebuilding team battling injuries across the backcourt -- is massively encouraging.

For him to be doing this as a 19 year old on a team with basically no point guards or spacing AND with other teams scheming against him on defense is absurd. It's clear he was insanely underrated as a prospect.

The other two candidates for the No. 1 overall pick...

Chet is obviously out for the season and won't play a single game.

Jabari is the worst qualified rookie in the NBA according to RAPTOR (-7.4) and the 2nd worst in BPM (-6.8)

Banchero is 2nd in both behind Mathurin.

Agreed. I was not as high on him, I wanted Jabari, but its clear now his game fits much better in an NBA style game vs college. I'm just salivating thinking how he and our team will look like once we put legit shooters around him and upgraded guards. He is going to destroy teams if they double him.
