Heat made the finals last year. They were 6th worse in ORTG.

good example...but they DID shoot absolutely lights out in the playoffs -way way above their season avg. Guys like "Playoff Jimmy" or Giannis are always lurking offensively too...Butler could score 15ppg all season and then avg. 30 through the playoffs. I wonder what their ORTG just for the playoffs was - that was an amazing run and very "Heat" of them. :banghead:

*Paolo may be that kind of talent for us  but I worry about him having to carry the load for 80 games just to get to the playoffs. That's a lot to ask of any human.

We won't be contending for years yet, and it will depend on Paolo and Franz leading a top ten offense.

What I notice with the Heat is they rest all their players throughout the season quite often. They have a deep roster for guys to fill in. Appears they are not always playing for wins, but saving guys for the playoffs while developing the bench often with extra minutes while they rest starters. Jimmy plays under 30 minutes often.

exactly. We're not contenders today, and our offense will get a lot better. Just need a PG and to continue to work on our shooting (Suggs and Paolo doing well, not worried about Franz's slump). We've seen improvement throughout the season, and in the last 15 games we're 11th in ORTG.

Because regular season is meaningless basketball from game- to -game perspective.

Warriors already proved it with 73 wins season. If you run yourself to a ground your "home court adventage " won't mean anything if you arrive in playoffs banged up & mentally burned out.

Lakers last year went to WCF from palyin and 43-39 record.

Nowdays we have whole bunch of pretenders that win lot of regular season games by simply trying hard(er) than the others just to get crushed in playoffs like Memphis, 2021 Knicks, 2020 Indiana, 2018 Blazers etc.

Goga/JI
Paolo/Mo
Franz/Caleb
Luka/Monk
Suggs/Cole

Then I wake up...

Paolo would get angry. Luka would demand the ball all the time and expect PB and Franz to just spot up or cut to thr basket. Lol

If you get a shot at Luka…you HAVE TO take it…but, same complaints about Trae being a greedy on-ball guy must exist with Luka…might as well send Paolo for him if it’s that true a concern

Yeah... you will have to send Paolo for him. Also, no true star would probably play with a ball dominant guy like Luka. Franz can work cuz he usually cuts and receives passes. I guess we just have to fill our roster with role players.

Our roster minus PB but with Luka kinda works with JI at the 4 spot. Ji as a lob threat while covering for Lukas lack of D.

Not sure about Slim starting and playing any more than 15-25mpg for half a season will help Luka that much except in the games he is healthy for even then in limited minutes. Doubt Slim ever averages more than 30mpg ever. He is perfect in his role off the bench.

We will see how this season goes and then we can improve. Remember 73 winning GSW? They added KD that off-season

Luka always wants to play for Mosley. I guess two seasons ago Orlando Sentinel actually had an article talking about Luka possibility.

It will cost a lot. But it is not impossible if Mavs can’t win in the playoffs. For me, if I were Luka, I am out

If it costs Banchero to get Dončić, then you pay that cost.

I'm going to be honest with you, I think Paolo is in a trade value tier where you consider swaps for top 5 players as unnecessary, redundant, and not at all obvious. He's a two-way, three level 1st option on nightly triple double watch, at 21 years old. You just don't trade those kinds of talents.

the kinda funny thing is if magic did make a big trade and went 7-3 some on this board would be like ..told you needed to make a trade with out it magic would be 5-5

The David Steele “is this anything” segment is by far and away the most annoying, pointless & corny segment that I wish absolute death on (not Steele and Jeff), just the segment..

I’d say not at all, no one was trading Suggs Paolo or Wagner brothers. WCJ was interesting rumor but no way he was actually being shopped.

Still think we go 8-2 if we had moved Fultz Okeke Harris or Goga.
A scoring guard.. never heard of one.

We would have been 10-0 and none of them close

Who do you like to replace Harris?

I predict Monk will be a hot name around here this offseason

Doing something at the deadline was never about the result of the following 10 games. Especially given the schedule softening up massively. Stupid attempt to correlate, imo.

It was about the postseason and the future, capitalising on our stud players while we can.

Monk will demand a ton of money and will prob look to be a starter... I do think we can start him and Suggs. His assists have skyrocketed this year. Besides Monk and maybe Grayson Allen and Klay I am not sure there is an upgrade over Gary Harris. I would not be shocked if they brought Gary back on a 1+1 deal around what he makes now.

I think that the Magic won't be throwing Max contracts at any players. Heck, if Suggs, Paolo and Franz all continue to improve, they will all get Max contracts so there would be no room for a 4th Max.
