The Magic with Kobe would be pretty good. The point is they can compete. Scola is ideal in that mid-range jumper the Lakers love to use in this offense (it's what Gasol does on almost every play). As you know Orlando held Miami to 90 twice. On offense that group is really really good together, flat out zone breakers.

Also there's a TPE coming Orlando's way for Nelson so that gives you a huge salary drop (something like 10m) and some flexibility.

Turk and Nelson are both pretty bad, but maybe Meer would return to form out there who knows.

Anderson is better than Scola, and the Laker bench is quite weak but I do agree with you that that team could compete.

If they can still shoot they're an improvement (you have no idea how it feels to watch Fisher-MWP clank jumper after jumper).

That sounds like Meer and Hedo.

After all is said and done. Offensively it's just about perfect for the Lakers. Every player fits right.

Cool, good luck with that

If Houston wants in on this deal, we should force them to give us Lowry instead of Martin. Martin is nothing but a poor % chucker. A core of Bynum, Anderson and Lowry is at least decent.

I still think I would rahter go the NJ route, get draft picks and flip Lopez for another pick. Build through the draft in 2012 & 2013 and then add a stud FA or two in the summer of 2013.

Along with HOU 1st,LAL 1st and maybe one of Dragic/Flyn to ORL

Jameer|Dragic
Kmart|Qrich|Wafer
Jrich|Parsons
Anderson|Clark|Harper
Bynum|Orton

With HOU you could probly get Terrance Ross
With LA's 1st probly BPA would be a bruiser PF like Patrick Young

thankfully he's got a team option after this season (so if he goes down and it's permanent, it's not crippling the franchise).

but, what's to stop this happening all over again?? what if next season Bynum starts talking about all the other teams he's considering signing with?

at this point, i'd rather the team flip Bynum/Lopez for the #1 pick so we can get Davis and start from scratch.

LA
in: Dwight + Turk + BBD + Nelson

NOH
in: Bynum

ORL
in: Gasol + Kaman + Hornet's pick + TPE (from Lakers)

2nd deal

MIN
in: JRich + Duhon

ORL
in: Beasley + Ridnour

Gasol/Kaman
Anderson/Clark
Beasley/Q
JJ/Von/Liggins
Ridnour/Ish

after this season, we have Kaman, Beasley, Anderson and JJ all possible to come off the books. we'd have the Hornets high lottery pick. we could potentially sign Deron (i highly doubt he'd come, but we'd have a solid core to work with). it's rebuilding on the fly.

dsg2021 wrote:The only way this deal makes any sense is if Lowry came to Orlando and Kmart and Jrich play surprisingly well together, even if one has to sit for a defender earlier than usual like Q, Clark, or Liggins (We can prolly try and also steal CLee or at least Barnes. Or make it more complex and trade again but for a defender).

Lowry's offense could regress but his passing and defense should make him a good core player. Oh, and hope Bynum's 40% games missed a season (and 10% nursing an injury on court) (38% technically on games missed on avg per season) doesnt continue or worsen (esp right after his new max deal..)....

Bynum will come in right away better than Lopez would, but Im imagining a brand new system offense (as Magic vets come off the books) for the Magic with younger players until the Magic have cap for FA's. Lopez and Brooks are like 22 exactly btw, and these scoutings on Lopez as a terrible defender are dumb. He blocks above average and defends at his age at an average/above average level already I think. Brooks is not at his ceiling already either like someone said... And his assist-to rate/efg% doesn't suggest he's a black hole. These are ridiculous statements with players who are 22 and when they start learning SVG's level of demand in performance, they will rebound more, defend more, and play efficient offense. The Nj lotto looks like 6-13 too so there's a shot at 1 and a realistic shot at 8. They're at like 4 projected as of right now. So again, unless Houston is handing out Lowry, I have like 2-4 deals I bet we could do from Dwight that I'd do first. Only the Lowry lineup looks like it makes sense.

Lowry / Nelson
K Mart / JJ Redick
J Rich / Liggins
Ryan / Clark
Bynum / BBD

I wouldnt mind giving up some combo JJ, Q, Von, Clark for Lowry. Turk, Duhon got to go tho, and no point to dump BBD or J Rich tho, we're not able to be improving that above roster with cap space.

Edit: It would be interesting to hear when Orange Ave heard this rumor. Sometimes things move so fast on a day to day basis that it's not likely anymore above a NJ trade that already was agreed to once.

Lopez is not a black hole in stats just like Melo isn't on paper but his style of playing requires him to be at a Hakeem-esque level to even out his passing so that a shooting team that once relied on a dominant beast at the post and has problems creating for each other could still get away with the spacing and style of play that he brings especially with regards to PO basketball defense.

Brook gets away with teams not preparing for him in the regular season because Nets don't win much anyway and he's just an awkward but extremely efficient type of scorer that you really have to pay special attention to.

That's not going to happen in the playoffs. If teams feel like Orlando will crumble if they contain Brook just as they contain Dwight then Brook is a double negative because Dwight is still an anchor on defense where as Brook does well using his height directly on his man and doesn't rotate as much. Even with energy, Brook's defensive ceiling maybe prime Camby and that's just bad for a potential championship contender who already hungers for the C position to do something spectacular. Bynum at least is by far the C with the best passing among the three. Even if Bynum fails at D, he can get the shooters going. Brook can fail at offense and open up the defense even worse the more he plays great weak side defense.

No coach. No GM. Probably no star. I swear, in my 23 years of following this team, I can't name a stranger time than this moment to be a supporter of the Magic.

Would be a good trade. Any trade at this point would be good. Apparently Dwight prefers to go to the Nets outright so they keep all their assets...so basically he is majorly screwing over the team that drafted him and made him who he is today. This guy...can't wait until he is gone.

I would do the second trade in a heartbeat. The first one is meh... that team looks horrible, I wouldn't mind if we can get some young talents back for Gasol. If we're going to rebuild, I don't want Gasol. He's not a first option, can't be the best player on the team.

Would rather do Brooks/Lopez/2012 1st instead of this.

which won't be worth much since the Nets will either not be a lottery team or a 13/14th pick....

Kobe/Dwights body language toward eachother seems like they dont want to play together tbh. When we lost @ Orlando Kobe didnt even acknowledge Howard post game..no hand shake nothin.

^Now why would he do something like that putting emphasis on a situation where it would only stir things up more and further annoy Bynum?

They acknowledged each other with plenty of smiles and friendly banter during the All Star game, not a big deal at all. Just because hands weren't shook at the end of 1 game does not mean there's any ill will. Ashamed I had to explain that to a fellow LA fan.
