Yeah, we already passed on the hometown kid Parsons last year. If Rivers is there(which i doubt) then i think we gotta take him. Otherwise, i like that kid Q. Miller out of Baylor. Kid was supposed to be a Kevin Durant/TMac esque player coming out of highschool, but he tore his ACL his senior year which set him back a lil as a Freshman.

I'd take the risk at #19, but not sure Magic will want to gamble, or take a more "ready" player like Jeff Taylor.

I wasn't big on Parsons, but he sure proved me wrong.

As for Rivers, he'll be gone when it's our turn.

When drafting, I'd rather take a risk than taking a no-upside, ready player.

What second rounders should we draft? I'm kind of interested in

scott machado
drew gordon
draymond green

I just checked out a mock and I'm pumped because it has us taking Machado! :D

Now they have us selecting Tornike Shengelia.

I'd draft an international with our 2nd round pick, maybe Nemanja Nedovic who could be our backup PG.

It would be interesting to see if Scott Machado's game translates to the NBA. Certainly worth selecting a senior guard and bring him to camp to see what he can bring. On Orlando, he would need to show he can shoot the NBA three-ball. But for a slow, and not particularly athletic guy, to shoot near on 50% is something that translates to the NBA.

I can see the Magic tabbing him.

after watching Nelson these past years, i get scared of a PG that is deemed a defensive weakness. Tired of watching opposing PG's run all over us.

Teams are going to have players rated differently and there could be some exciting names that slip to #19.

I'm pumped.

Hopefully a new GM is making the draft choices for the Magic.

C Robert Sacre, we need a backup for Dwight.

How good of scouting does Orlando FO have? This is big question mark if we want to improve through draft (otherwise we're better off on trading picks).

As far as available talent goes, outside of lottery (or first 5 picks in weaker drafts), each draft is usually a crapshoot where smart FO can find gems in late 20's or early 2nd round.

Im all for Wroten.

I would like it if we picked Arnett Moultrie. He would be a great back up pf/center, because he has NBA size and athleticism and if we trade Ryno for a wing then we still have fat baby starting.

i still believe our biggest need is a ball handler. wroten or teague. if anderson leaves we still have baby/clark/harper but if nelson opts out for more money we are left with duhon starting.

Just curious -- for those of you who have followed this guy, is Anthony Davis really worth the hype?

I've read comparisons that he is essentially a thin/weaker howard plus a jumpshot. Outside of the jumpshot part, that to me sounds closer to a 'smarter Earl Clark' then to a Dwight Howard?

If he starts for an NBA team, is it because he's that good, or because there just aren't any good centers?

And that's one hell of a uni-brow he's got.

If we stay on our current trajectory by taking the path of least resistance we'll likely see Ryan Anderson re-signed and the rotation 1-7 unchanged. This would leave backup PG and situational wing defender up for grabs. The main competition for situational wing defender is between QRich and Liggins while the main competition for backup PG is Duhon and Ish Smith. Personally I think we are much weaker at backup PG, so I'd draft one.

Ultimately though I think the roster needs a semi-rebuild around Dwight and Anderson, meaning that trades should occur to strengthen one of our starting SF or PG positions, or optimally both. This would likely result in a completely different landscape for determining what we need to draft.

Other things to consider is if Fran finally comes over, which would free up Baby to be traded, or likewise if Orton takes the next step.

A thinner weaker Howard is an 18 year old Howard.

Just take the best PG, SG, or SF and I will be happy. Teague, Marshall, Waiters, Lambs, Harkless, Ross...all fine by me.

I dont think we need a backup center right now, i'd give a shot to Orton next season and we have a remote chance to bring Fran too, so i'd try to sign a wing athletic player with our 2nd round pick.

Not interested about position. Take one with real potential and let him play some minutes.

Better to watch development of young rookies than inconsistent performance of overpaid aging veterans.

By the way, Fran's one-year contract, signed last year, is expiring this summer. And both Barcelona and Spain are hit by economi crisis in Europe. I wont be surprised if he comes to NBA.
