Re: Official Speculation Thread (Pt. XXXVII Off-Season Editi
Personally I like watching entertaining basketball that wins. Dwight is one of the more entertaining players in the league and we win with him. I'd love to have him back. I'll continue to maintain that he is overly criticized for his actions and that he HIMSELF has not been that bad in this process. "Sources" are what have made this story a dwightmare.
Having said that, we traded away Ryno because people thought he wouldn't be as effective without Dwight and not worth the contract, does that feeling change if Dwight stays? If Henny can find a way to keep Dwight but still bring in another star, i'm all for it.
I call BS though. I doubt these sources are any more correct than any others these last few months.

Official Speculation Thread (Pt. XXXVII Off-Season Edition)
AdamTheGreek wrote:I'm not buying the Dwight staying in Orlando chatter.
I bet our front office leaked it so other teams saw there was a chance Dwight could stay with the Magic in order to up their offers more.
That's most likely true. But, if Dwight did decide to stay, we should all throw a parade.
Not changing this Sig until the Orlando Magic win a championship (Technically Started 1-30-08)

Note: My percentages are as accurate as Rudolph's.
DH trade to Houston: 70%
*DH trade to LAL: 20%
DH stays in Orlando: 5%
DH traded to some other team out of the blue: 5%
*If he agrees to sign with LAL and they offer both Bynum and Gasol this goes to 100%.
If the reports are correct, and the Magic have asked Howard about staying, I would put him staying here at 50-50. I hope the reports are wrong.
THAT'LL BE THE DAY!

John Denton was on "Open Mike" this mornig and said he still thinks he will be traded. Said "51%" chance he is traded FWIW.
Also said new coach by next Tuesday or Wednesday.

If Houston is really amnestying scola to clear cap space for absorbing hedo, jrich and duhon, I'd move Dwight in a heartbeat. Not only do we get cap space and young talent, but Dwight would be looking at a starting lineup of duhon, jrich, hedo, montejuanas, d12. Lol

like someone earlier mentioned, this may be a leak to other teams to show if there's a chance Dwight may reconsider staying, they need to up the ante ASAP.

It is sad to say, but i think they are asking too much for Dwight. We can say all we want that he will have to stay wherever he goes, but he doesnt have to. He wants to choose where he goes, and he might not be able to do that until the end of the year.
Getting 2 top 10 picks, along with moving J-Rich might be the best we can do. When i hear moving multiple bad contracts, multiple picks, multiple young players, no team is going to do that with Dwight saying he wont sign an extension.

If DH is faced with a year of Duhon as his starting point guard, he'll sign an extension here for sure, LOL.

for anyone interested, David Baumann will have Schmitz, Robbins, & Kyler on his show over the next 90 mins. and not for nothing, it's a good local show to listen to, 9am-11am, daily.

I still don't understand the Jameer resigning
He basically took the Lakers out of it by removing one of their potential assests
A Bynum + Sessions + Ebanks for Dwight + Jrich + Duhon trade would've been done by now I bet, but by resigning Jameer he took out a Sessions S & T
Houston is lowballing really hard I bet and I can't really blame them since they know they're the only option open right now

Sorry, the two top 10 picks would be only one sent from Houston, the Toronto pick, the other would be our own. There is no doubt that the talk of the Rockets with Scola, they are willing to take on those extra contracts. If we get the Toronto pick, a future draft pick, some young talent and expirings to make up the difference, we would be in a great position to rebuild. I realise some don't want to rebuild, and most of these are season ticket holders so I won't argue against them as they put in their hard earned and have a right to want to see winning, whereas myself, I just want my team to be refreshed and I trust Henny to do it right.

Oh boy...@RicBucher our show: A source told me last night the #Magic have gone to Dwight Howard and asked him to reconsider staying in ORL.
Oh my God! Why don't you just lick his rear end and get it over with? I hope this is NOT accurate. I know it will excite some of you but I guess I am old fashioned. I won't be crap*ed on and then ask the offender to do it yet again. Winning seems to have overridden any sense of decency and behavior. We tolerate ANY kind of deviant behavior in our athlete's as long as they can stuff a basketball, throw a football, hit a curve ball, etc.
And then we make excuses for them to justify there behavior. In Howards case, it's because he "got some bad advice". Of course we are to believe Howard had to control over himself, or his actions. I apologize. I didn't mean to get on my soapbox. It just really bothers me...as a fan and a human being.
I'm just a Magic fan. It's not about Dwight's behavior. It's about the Magic taking a stand for one of the not so huge market teams in the NBA. We see CP3 finding a way out of New Orleans, Melo demanding his way to New York, & LeBron colluding his way to Miami. If the Magic could be the franchise to play hardball with their All-NBA player, and get him to stay, then I could not be any happier.
Am I Dwight's biggest fan? Hell no. Jameer's been my favorite Magic player in this era. I've been critical of Dwight's personality since maybe a year or two before the Finals run. But if the Magic can break the trend in the NBA? Be the example of what to do to break this SuperFriends era in the NBA, then I'm good with that.

Exactly, Rob has said he will do what is best for ORL. If Dwight says he wants to stay, why not? don't always believe all those negative rumors, they might not be. Rob obviously knows something we don't if he really asked him that. If you have a chance to keep him, you do it.

The Knicks assets are just as dreadful as Brooklyn's..so yes, it'll probably be them
The fact he still hasn't opened up to the Lakers just shows why I wouldn't want him back. He's being such a baby about Kobe insulting his offense that it's unreal. If he really cared about the future of the Magic he would've put LA on his list a long time ago. Could've got a better trade from them before they spent some of their assets on the Nash trade, and Bynum seemed more open to a extension earlier
