If we had "rolled the dice" last season he would have signed with the Nets the min he was allowed. We are suppost to believe that a 30 year old GM, rookie coach and 2 late draft picks changed his mind. This is all to avoid Houston, where his people know is the likely landing spot.
You are correct but some on here are blinded by a guy who can slam dunk and play good defense. They are profoundly wrong about Howard bringing Orlando a ring. I WILL be here to say "I told you so!" This is a ploy by Howard and Fegan to avoid Houston and get to Brooklyn. How many times has Howard stated his goal was BROOKLYN? Wake up people!
THAT'LL BE THE DAY!

Gee, he is really going out on a limb with that statement! Doesn't just about every day bring something of interest?
What happened to the guy in the last part (XLI) that said a deal would be done Tuesday or Wednesday at the latest with Houston or he would no longer post. It was from another board. I forget who the guy was. He claimed to have inside info but couldn't say who he was and how he was involved.
THAT'LL BE THE DAY!

How about we sign Sue Bird to play backup over duhon? She would probably take the mini-mle. We just have to make sure Dwight is already traded so he cant get her pregnant and ruin our season.

You guys need to stop acting like Twitter is your bible. Quoting stuff from Twitter on here the second they come out is getting ridiculous. NOTHING will happen until the season starts, NOTHING. So go outside, enjoy the other things in life and don't worry about Dwight or the Magic. You're damaging your brain.

Alex Kennedy @AlexKennedyNBA
Jameer Nelson got paid. He'll make $8.6 mil in 12-13, $8.6 mil in 13-14, $8 mil in 14-15. Last year is only partially guaranteed, but still.

4-5 million per would have been my absolute max based on the market size of the deals other point guards have been getting this offseason.
A smart coach once said, "Potential just means you're not good enough yet." Playing on potential is like living on air: It's essential, but if thats all you have, you're eventually going to starve.

Agreed.
We'd get them even if he only got 4-5.

Why dump bad contracts like Jrich, Duhon and Hedo if we are signing new bad contracts anyway?

This is what is so stupid about Hennigans trip out there. Staying here until February is Howards ONLY chance to get to BK, Henny is screwing up a potential trade with Houston in order to give Dwhiner a chance to stick it to us again at the trade deadline. You don't think Fegan has anything to do with this? This is their plan to get to BK and it appears Henny is opening up the door. If he does this, we have someone who surpasses Otis in ignorance.bigmoe1952 wrote:
In other words fans and F/O, bend over and get ready to take it up the ying-yang to placate another NBA narcissistic malcontent. Well, he IS NOT going to stick it to this fan. If the Magic take this clown back, I am done with the Magic. There are other teams and other sports. College hoops are much better anyway. The Magic front office and ownership are dysfunctional and perpetually inept. And I think there are a lot of fans out there who think the way I do. May not be the majority but I think it is a sizable number. Get rid of this cancer that is Dwight Howard!
You sound bitter and shortsighted.
If Hennigan didnt take the Nets trade last month, why on earth would you think he would in February? Other trades would be out there because in the end its Dwight Howard we would be trading.
btw
NO ONE KNOWS WHAT THE REAL DEALS FOR HOWARD WERE! The hard-on we all have for the houston trade could be unjustified. Speculate all you want but don't take that speculation as truth and then use it to hate on your new GM, because you do not know anything but what a hand full of people report, and what they report has sometimes turned out to be nothing but a lie. Sports media is a business, and like every business the pressure to beat last years numbers is omnipresent. If we keep clicking every damn link to a story about Howard we'll only make it worse...so yeah i'm saying its all our faults. We created this mess...
Bitter? Yes. Shortsighted? No! Do you really think the Magic will get a better deal at the deadline, when they HAVE to deal with someone, then they can now? They will deal with BK cause they HAVE TO. Who in the hell will want to rent Howard for a couple months? And if they do, what will they give up? 2 bags of Cheetos? And I bet you any trade with Houston now will be much better then what we will get from BK at the trade deadline.
I never said a better deal, also you assume that we will HAVE to trade him. Hennigan has my trust. Brooklyn deal will be just as bad/good in February because they will not have the cap space to sign him, neither will LA. So, I say if Hennigan doesn't have a trade worth howard, you keep him and his bird rights. Alot can change in the coming months. Including Howards mind.
let paid professionals do their job, don't you try and do it for them...

why do people believe this? for any team other than the Nets, they are not going to offer any great package, because they would only be getting Dwight for 2-3 months, and then possibly losing him. No one is going to take on multiple bad contracts and give up a good player or picks for a 2 month rental, it isnt going to happen. The Nets are the only team that fully believe they can give up anything they have to for Dwight, because they absolutely believe he will resign with them in the offseason. No one else has that guarantee.
If the Magic do not trade Dwight, the offers will continue to get worse if not completely dry up. IMO, if he isnt traded before the season starts, we will either see him walk or traded to Brooklyn. not what i want, just what i can see happening.
