That's just nuts. If McLemore has the potential to be another Iguodala, we have to grab him. Assuming Cleveland passes him by.

Where the heck did you get the Iggy Comp from?

Iggy is one of the better 2-3 wing play makers in the game, & struggles to shoot the ball consistently. One of the better wing defenders as well.

McLemore hasn't showed the ability to be a play maker just yet, & his biggest strength is shooting. Can McLemore even play defense at a high level, or even average level? Not sure we know that yet.

Guess they are both athletic though, so there's that.

Reread the series of posts you replied to. No one compared his style of play for Iggy, fendillim compared his caliber of play to Iggy/Gay/other good 2nd options.

Twolves fan here:

Flip is targeting Oladipo but also has said there is one other player he is willing to trade up for...but he won't say the name.

I just don't see how Minnesota and Orlando can make a deal that works. Afflalo is just too valuable an asset.

Ridnour and Sven both play PG. Sved can play some Shooting Guard with his height, but he is truly a PG with great skill. The kid hit a rookie wall last year that left him cold.

So here is the trade:

Orlando trade their 1st Round Pick (2nd overall) + Afflalo (7.5Mil) to the Timberwolves

Minnesota trade their 1st Round Pick (9th overall) + 1st Round Pick (26th overall) + Derrick Williams (5.0 Mil) + Sved (3.2 Mil)

I don't think this is a good deal for Orlando because I think they can get better value for Afflalo in some other different deal with a different team. Minnesota fans have been targeting Afflalo for 2 years as a possible answer to some of our woes.....but I don't think its possible the Twolves get the 2nd pick overall and Afflalo in a trade. We don't have any other assets to offer.

IMO.

I think the Twolves have a better shot at trading up with Washington or Charlotte.

Do the wolves still have their 2014 pick? If so, throw in an unprotected 2014 1st, along with the #9 + #26 and I'd certainly consider swapping that for #2 if Hennigan had a guy who he was keen in that was still on the board (McCollum/Schroeder/Burke even?).

That's not my comparison, it was the comparison I quoted. OP basically said they couldn't see taking Mac because he'd never be better than a second option, like Iggy or Gay.

The Wolves do not have their 2014 1st round pick.

Yeah, pretty sure we pass on that. Minny can probably get AA and maybe a future protected first, or a combination of seconds, for #9, but I can't see Henny trading the #2 and AA for that package.

Well played sir.

It's almost like the Magic were destined to have this McLemore vs. Oladipo debate.

how about.....

Orlando trade their 1st Round Pick (2nd overall) + Davis (6.4.5Mil) to the Timberwolves

Minnesota trade their 1st Round Pick (9th overall) + 1st Round Pick (26th overall) + Derrick Williams (5.0 Mil) + Sved (3.2 Mil)

...or.......

Orlando trade their 1st Round Pick (2nd overall) + Harrington (7.1Mil) to the Timberwolves

Minnesota trade their 1st Round Pick (9th overall) + Derrick Williams (5.0 Mil) + Sved (3.2 Mil)

Cant give Orlando the 26th on this deal.

For me personally, I don't see any value in Derrick Williams for this team. Sved is ok, but nothing to say "Yes, deal!"

What about Arron Afflalo for #9 and salaries to make it work (Ridnour/Cunningham?) If you're looking for SG help, this might be your best bet. Trying to get Afflalo and Oladipo in the same trade is actually kind of strange.

It would seem strange, however, the Twolves have no 2-guards..none.

To have Oladipo play behind Afflalo for a year would fit on this particular roster, but I agree, I don't see any of these trades happening.

Orlando does seem willing to trade down in this draft but I'm not sure you have to use the Afflalo asset to achieve the goal.

PHX will be calling Orlando to make a simple deal to make sure they have a shot at Mclemore or Oladipo.

Orlando will have lots of different options in this draft....a good position to be in...IMO

If we were on the clock, and it were the only deal on the table, I would pull the trigger on a deal for Minny's #9, #26, #52 (not that I necessarily want to keep all those picks).

There is nothing I have seen that tells me the player that we get at #2 is going to have a much higher chance of turning into something special than the guy we get at #9. I'm sure some disagree, but I call it a coin flip to try and guess who out of Oladipo/McClemore/Franklin/McCollum is going to be the better NBA player three years from now. So pick what position you want to address and give yourself two chances at getting someone special. Want to address SG? Take Franklin or McCollum at #9, and take Ledo/Hardaway at #26. Want a PG? Take MCW or Larkin at #9, and then Schroeder or Zo Brown at #26. Give yourself more (cheaper) chances to be right in a draft like this.

If we can get more for #2, great. But I wouldn't pass on a deal that is less than what the #2 could traditionally fetch if it is the only option.

I Sergey Karasev is going to be this years Evan Fournier with his unique skill as a 6'7 shooting guard with vision and truthfully I think a better shot than Fournier. I would really love to see us get a mid first to pick him depending on how the draft goes but this is a kid that I really like.

Meh. Just bc he's a famous rapper it doesn't make him a great agent. This is his third agent since he joined the NBA.

Actually I think his influence and connects make him a threat, imo.

Jay-Z is going to be a fantastic agent. NBA players want endorsements, want to cross genres, and want to be taken care of.

On another note, we already have an Andre Igoudala on our roster, Maurice Harkless most closely projects to be an Iggy type player, the similarities in stats are scary. So why draft Oladipo? I consider him Iggy the SG. I am not convinced yet Oladipo has what it takes to be a consistent offensive threat in the NBA and I do not value defense at the 2 guard.

Very interesting.. Many have said that perhaps McLemore was holding back as a freshman playing for one of the great coaches/universities and playing within Self's system. Very well could be the case. I think his game does translate a bit better to the NBA though.. way less zone, no hand-checking, and more open lanes. When you come from nothing like McLemore you just have that inner-fire. Gotta get him coached up.

Image
I simply dont see McLemore being able to be THAT dog he is trying to say. IMO, his DOG would just be Iguodala or Gay... Good for 2nd options only.

So, if Iguodala or Gay were available at number two in this draft, considering everything else that's out there, you would pass over them and take, say, Oladipo?

That's just nuts. If McLemore has the potential to be another Iguodala, we have to grab him. Assuming Cleveland passes him by.
Yes, you pick him. But if Noel is available, oyu pick him first.

If we don't trade down McLemore or Noel are in a magic uni in less than a month.

Return to Orlando Magic
