I believe next season isn't fully guaranteed.

Do not need the drama heading into next season.

Real question. What would you gain by doing this? What is your calculated reason?

Or is this just personal butthurtness?

1) $10 million in salary cap space this summer.
2) A roster spot.
3) Clarity moving forward (rather than penciling JI into a rotation spot he will never fill).
4) Locker room intangible benefits. They will never say it publicly, but what are the chances that the other 14 guys on this roster enjoy the fact that the player making the most money, a) never plays, and b) has made it his personal mission to speak out against black people protesting injustice?

Who do you have in mind in using that money on? Got a top 3? Mind you we already have cap space so if there are multiple targets what are you thinking?

On my third hand a healthy JI makes drafting Hendricks redundant. Hmmmm....
That was the thing about JI, some people thought he would never play again..... He did and honestly when he did play he looked good.... To me he looked 75%-80% of what he was pre injury.... This time it's just a muscle injury..... If and it's a big if, if this is the last injury and he's good from now on? Yeah no need for Hendricks at all

Exactly. A healthy veteran JI trumps Hendricks. So we can use those 2 picks we have for potential instead of contribution right away.

True.

I’d be worried about Isaac’s health if we were competing already. But the fact that he basically hasn’t been playing during our tanking years, it really isn’t a problem i’d really be concerned about.

Next year is a different story.

Well people said he would never play again, and he proved them wrong by playing 11 games, not playing back to backs, only playing 2 games a week on 10 mpg restriction. And .... lasted both weeks before new injury :banghead:

He just isn't built to last in basketball. He should finish his Magic deal and seek some team where playing basketball won't be his everday duty, rather play in very limited role and not be active rotation player all the time.

This deflection of reality of his health " well, we tanked so no problem of him not playing active basketball for 3 and half years " is delusion at it's worst.

Nobody, and i mean nobody in nba, in past 5 years missed more games. Magic didn't tank 5 years. They didn't even tank last year. He just can't get healthy and can't stay healthy. Guy is 26, it's not like his body will miraculously start heeling faster as he approaches 30s. If you are in early 20s and body is tapping out on you, your 30s will get just that worst. And at some point you should reconsider your life after basketball. Do you want to be crippled man at 35 or live normal life after basketball. Life doesn't stop when you retire, actually it just starts.
Some people here don't really understand pain you have to go through with bad knees to even get in playing shape.

I don’t know if he’ll contribute again, but imo he’s worth one more shot.

If we had a legit major FA move in play, I’d waive him asap…accepting that he might succeed elsewhere. Same as I see Fultz, available money to make a splash.

I would not waive him, if anything you can trade him as expiring

Jan 10, 2024 should be freedom day. But it won't Isaac will play 10mpg to the NewYear averaging 7/1/3. And that will be "enough" for his contract to be guaranteed for the rest of the year.

Given that I don't think he will be released, here's hoping he becomes an expiring contract in a deal. That only extends his term as a Magician to early Feb. though. So: don't fret. This fiasco is almost over!

fiasco = paying Isaac 2M dollars for each single-PPG he contributes.

I for one don't think Isaac's NBA career is over anytime soon. But his time as a Magician is coming to its end.

Game 30 is mid-December, which is right about when he Magic will have serious conversations about waiving vs. guarenteeing Isaac for the 2023/24 season.

There are about 50 games to the trade-deadline, so it could be be that Isaac plays 66% of the games, is guaranteed, and traded.
He would be at about 30 games under that scenario.

:)

It's funny that once a week, we have a fan of another team that's willing to take Isaac of our hands.

Too bad that front officies aren't as dumb as their fans to offer something for retired player :(

Yes, and our smart fans know more than our front office.

Really dont make any sense for us to do that though. We’re not paying him, insurance is. Also, who are we signing? We already have 20million cap space… i’m sure mgmt will make moves if necessary

teams in cap hell/title contenders with no space will gladly eat Isaac's money if it means getting off a bad deal and adding in a sweatener for us. We can just stand pat and if he still isn't healthy then you waive him when the time comes
