Paolo is up to 8th in the league in steals at 2.0 per game.

He was phenomenal tonight. Still passed up open shot after open shot, but he's starting to click on his drives. And his unselfish passing gets repaid to him on his easier buckets. Man, how badly I wanted that second 3-pointer to splash in right after his first one did.

He had a beautiful assist that Jalen blew the open layup, mad about that one.

he is not passing anything,he just had a wonderful shot selection.
that brought not only to good shots but also so many good passes for others.

the drives clicked cause they were better picked, from post or in already advantage situations, and indeed in transition, his best weapon.

if he always play like this, with this type of shot selection,he is clearly an all-star.
and hopefully Fultz will wake up or he will have a Point guard someday who could put him in more good situations.

Answer: He's him

I’ve said all along, look back at my posts to last season… I don’t want to be right, I hope he proves me wrong…

One game doesn’t change my mind—but open to having it changed!

One game doesn’t change my mind, 82 games doesn’t change my mind, 4 games changes my mind.

Negative, I said that consistently all last year my friend… One of the first times I actually saw some dog attacking the rim—didn’t worry about contact trying to make a layup instead of dunking and then cry to officials…

I hope I’m wrong brother—doesn’t benefit me to be right…

The adjustment the league has made is simple, crowd Paolo.

3P %
Fultz- ZERO
Suggs- 30%
Franz- 33%
Wendell- 20%
J.Ingles- ZERO
J. Isaac- 29%

Even Giannis and Zion would struggle if this is what they were surrounded by!

End the Markelle Fultz era, he has regressed, he has not tried the pull-up 3 that he has stated he would this year and is no longer even attempting 3s at all, averaging less than 1 a game.

And let HIM shoot outside of course.

Right because we were such a great 3PT shooting team last season. They’re sagging off of him because he can’t shoot, he’s also leaving a bunch of points at the FT line. Lack of shooting is obviously an issue that should be addressed but Crowding him and our struggles as a 3pt shooting team aren't new concepts. He’s struggling to find his shot and teams are daring him to shoot. I think he’ll find his rhythm eventually. Hopefully last night was that start.

Paolo does freaky stuff at his height, and yes he got off to a slow start this season, but I think you’re going to see him take off after that performance last night. The Julius Randle comparisons always crack me up. Randle’s handle is nowhere near Paolo’s, for starters. He’s going to be a perennial all-star and the best player on a playoff team. No idea if he’s a championship caliber player, but very, very few are.

Just be glad the Magic have themselves a guy that can get to the line at will, create his own offense, and has elite vision passing the ball. Those players are few and far between. Chet is a defensive force, but he looks hella goofy on offense and tries to handle the ball but really isn’t effective at it due to how height. If you want someone who can actually carry a trem offensively, which is the most important skill it todays NBA, Chet ain’t it.

Paolo's defensive growth is huge. He could be the premier two-way, three level superstar forward for years to come and a perennial all NBA first team selection. Him, Wemby, and Tatum could rule the league from a front court perspective.

Definitely. Paolo Banchero is a very solid, above average defender to me as well. And we are fans of a franchise that lives on defense, so we know it when we see it. I’ve been thinking it since most of last season too.

Paolo playing better defensively is no surprise to anyone who watched the Magic last season.

He struggled at most with keeping up with team defense & making the right rotations & switches, his individual defense was fairly average. Which is good for a rookie, and he showed some serious flashes defensively at times.

This year his team defense is alot more sound, and his individual defense has improved. He still has some work to do on rotations and close-outs, but it's looking like he will a positive impact on the defensive side of the ball for a long time.

I've always hated/found the Julius Randle comparisons lazy. Paolo is:

-A far better passer at his age than Julius
-Draws FT's at a far higher rate
-A far better defender at his age
-A better ball handler
-Taller & faster/agile/athletic than Julius Randle

Biggest difference. Paolo takes accountability for self and his team.

I really like that rub screen Utah runs for markannen and I'm wondering why we can't run that for paolo? They ran that play twice against us and Lauri got going downhill right at the rim.....this is what mose needs to improve in our offense, there are ways to put your star is spots to get easy fouls/buckets..... Everything doesn't have to be isolation for P5

My take away from Utah was that Paolo gets going when the ball is in his hand and he’s running the offense in the half court. His strengths shined in that game, so he needs to be put in those spots instead of catching it on the elbow as a secondary option. He was up and reading the court instead of head down attacking.

I think watching Franz becoming much more aggressive this season so far is helping Paolo to shake off his early season blues. I don't care that Paolo still has below average 3P% and FT% even after tonight's second Lakers game. I want more of this when our two forwards go for 25+. And I cannot summarize my thoughts any better than the two posts right above mine by Bensational and KillMonger.

I’d rather have a Diaw type for this team… Better defender and shooter and would cost a third of what we a most likely going to pay Paolo.

will definitely be revisiting these comments later in the season

not even a week later
