Not to beat a dead horse but this aint right no more

When I saw this last night I wanted to throw up. I feel bad for him because it's gotta be his TOS, but he should not be on the floor if he can't take a shot without that happening. I'm rooting for him, I really had high hopes coming into this season that he was going to have a good year and have turned the corner, but that TOS has come back and it's debilitating. He literally can't shoot a jumpshot. He has a lot great intangibles, he's able to breakdown defenses and get to the hoop, he can create for others, but if the ball isn't in his hand teams can leave him basically unguarded and not worry about it.

The only thing I can rationalize is that the doctors have told him that rest isn't going to fix it so he might as well play through it and do his best (and be promptly parked at the back of the bench).

So he had TOS diagnosis and the answer was rest and rehabilitation. I remember there was whole regime where he couldnt do something or shoot from far away. Now his "TOS" has flare up and the answer is play through it ? You doesnt get the cognitive dissonance ?

so basicly you would be building a team around him :D just so he could feel accepted ?

and our main 2 guys as role players

love it XD

Lol don't lie bro.

I mean.. it matters because it takes away the only thing he's good at.

But like we've said a zillion times before, it isn't the only thing that matters.

Look, I feel for him because this is a contract year and we are clearly showcasing him to move him. I just think you are putting the team at risk of losing games because of it.

Read on Twitter

Markelle who has ::checks notes:: ATTEMPTED three 3PT shots in 241 minutes this season (making zero) decides to double down on the "oh I can definitely shoot, I just have chosen not to shoot" rationale.

And people to this day twist themselves into pretzels for this guy.

It's not denial dude- he's an expiring going into FA next season with his future on the line what the hell do you expect him to say? "Nah man I'm broke as F*** my shoulder is jacked from TOS man I feel like I've been set back to my Philly days and I've got a long road of rehab ahead of me to get back to even where I was at the end of last year"?

Ya'll crack me up.

Personally?

I would like it if for once in his career Markelle simply told the truth.

Him suggesting that he can do something that he's never really done and with the subtle insinuation that WE are the crazy ones for even questioning it in the first place is really frustrating and annoying.

The Magic’s instagram story shows him making a three pointer. Poor attempt at silencing the haters

Subtle insinuation? You ARE a crazy one if you are reading into this so personally.

I mean how else can it be read into?

The guy has attempted 3 three pointers on the season.

He gets asked a perfectly reasonable question about his shooting and his response isn't one really based in any sort of reality.

If anything, Markelle should get down on his knees and thank the lord that the team with the most flaccid media market in the league acquired him. He hasn't faced a genuinely tough question (despite there being many to be asked) in like four full years at this point

Imagine if he was playing for a team where the local press actually cared? Oh wait we saw it in Philadelphia already and it was a complete disaster.

He was asked about being confident in his shooting and his response is fine. If you are big mad that the question wasn't directly about 3 pointers to see Markelle squirm, take that up with the media guy.

I agree our media is super easy on our guys, but the fact you expected this interview to go any way other than how it did is mind boggling.

Also, the idea that Philly media is the way they are because 'they care' is laughable. You can look back and see Markelle literally talking about the physical sensations he was having trying to shoot the ball "Feels like I have too small a coat on"(iirc) and nobody gave a damn and pushed the yips narrative. I'm thrilled we don't have that trash here, though they could afford to ask harder questions.

He had a healthy run last season and a healthy offseason. The starting role was his to lose. He has been given his chances and not seized them and we’ve got better long term options in house and better options externally. Why are people still so hung up on him? God forbid he were playing better, we’d have to listen to doomsday predictions about his impending expensive long term extension.

Because they're still playing him even though he's a free agent to be while not playing their 6th overall pick?

Clearly it's just a lack of opportunity. After all his FT % is ::checks notes:: 40%.

But listen to what Markelle actually said.

He was asked if he was confident in his shooting. He said yes and acted like that was the most obvious answer in the world. Yet... he doesn't shoot. How can anyone be confident in something when they blatantly and obviously refuse to do it? It's just dishonest.

And no, I don't expect Fultz's interviews to ever go different than they go. Because the Magic media is so soft that they'll just accept whatever the guy says (and this isn't exclusive to Fultz, it applies to all players and coaches, Fultz is just the most openly dishonest) without being bothered.

I know Jason Beede personally through our mutual UCF connections (I used to work there, he covered the UCF beat for several years as a student and as a professional). He's a super nice young guy and he works hard, but he's also been on the Magic beat for like less than 6 months and he's only been out of college for like 3 years. He's not gonna ask a tough question for pretty much any reason, because why would he risk harming his access?

I also don't necessarily think the Philly media is *better* than Orlando or any other city's outlet. They just have multiple papers, multiple podcasts, multiple blogs, multiple TV studios at every single practice. Naturally there's going to be more questions, more prodding, more follow ups because there's 10x as many people with microphones and cameras in the building every day.
