So Jameer hasn't signed on the dotted line yet, huh?
Can we give that money to C-Lee instead?

Don't you think that dealing with the Dwight situation should take precedence as it sets the tone for the rest of the off-season/season?
what's the vision of this team? are we in tank and rebuild mode, or are we in add winning veterans and compete now mode?
no reason we can't be addressing either of those visions regardless of what happens with Dwight.
Probably depends on who we trade with .... we are apparently weighing the options rather than just jumping and doing the first decent deal.
If we deal with LA then our vision for next season will be different than if we deal with Houston.
What's the point of signing a serviceable (aka average) guy for a position that we may get a nice young talent (maybe even on a rookie deal) for?

Magic are now faced with trading Howard for Bynum, who also said he won't sign an extension. Basically trading one big man for another unless they get the Rockets together. That 3 team deal from last night, that won't work for LA either.
Magic are back to the drawing board at this point and dare I say, I don't know for a fact, but talks about Howard trying to challenge the legality of him opting in for this year that he was given improper inducements. My guess is they'll pursue legalities to get out of his Magic contract.
Enlarged is the realest part of the post.
Howard already dismissed the "blackmail" stuff. How is there a case without him? Try to go to court and they have his quote stating that it wasn't true. umm, no.
Let's consider the ramifications for this. Suppose for a moment Howard could actually convince David Stern that he should be released from his contract. What teams have the space to actually sign him at this point? Brooklyn doesn't, LA doesn't, not Houston, or OKC, or Atlanta. In fact, at this point, his choices to outright sign with someone amounts to basically Charlotee or Portland.
So now, we need to roll back the clock on every other contract that has been signed this offseason? We have to void the trade of JJ to the Nets so they can pursue Howard as well? How far do the dominoes have to be backed up> Is Lopez' contract voided as well?
Bottom line is this is a case of being unable to un-ring the bell. Howard's stuck with his decision. He was given options not to void the ETO and chose to do so anyway. He needs to grow up and be a man, and learn to love playing with Kobe or hanging out in Houston, 'cause I have to think Rob is sick and tired of the BS and just want to move him, and do so before training camp.

Not to mention finding a coach too

Bensational wrote: For what Dallas gave up for him, Collison was great value. he's a more than capable starting PG, and i think you'll see his numbers pick up considerably in Dallas.
it really depends on your expectations of these player? if you think they'll continue as 20/10 guys, then you're kidding yourself. if you think they should promise as good playmakers and floor generals, that they have a propensity to score in bunches and that they can get the ball to the open man - then you'd be right and you're less likely to be disappointed in their performance going forward.
That isn't my point. What happens if Orlando does trade Dwight Howard? This upcoming season is over and Orlando is building around cap space and draft picks. My point was about committing a long term contract such as the MLE to a player like this just for the sake of making a move and having something to talk about. Next summer will be Orlando's time to make a splash in free agency. Just be patient. It is a good sign that Henny is passing on these rotation players.
Collison is on a modest contract, so this is more a rant about the Ramon Sessions ideas which are still bugging. But what would Orlando have given them? The Pacers needed a cheap, quality backup center. Orlando doesn't have an extra one sitting around.

SLEEP!
I'll finally be getting a good nights rest. Also am I the only one bummed that we may be facing another crazy season? I mean I'm glad we still have the best center on our team but if he doesnt sign that extension... Last season all over again.

We are obviously tanking and that won't start until after the Dwight issue is sorted. Makes no sense to make any moves whatsoever until then. Some people need to be patient, think for a second, If this would have been Otis we would be looking at Lopez's ostrich face tonight in a Magic uni, let Rob and his team work.

Not if we trade him before the season starts. We might actually have a team again.

I highly, highly doubt that we will start the season with Dwight on our roster.

This. Unless he signs an extension, he has to go. I think this is Rob gaining leverage by forcing Dwight to open up to other teams so we can get better offers.

Collison filled in nicely for Paul when he went down in New Orleans but people blew that way out of proportion. If Sessions and Collison had half the potential that you guys claim they do they wouldn't be sitting around waiting for a contract or be shipped away for nothing.
I know Nelson isn't the best option at starting PG and if we had a happy Dwight Howard along with a strong core, I would agree that these are guys to target for depth. However, a rebuilding team should not be interested in offering a long term contract to someone with a very real and mediocre ceiling.
The Magic, a rebuilding team, just committed to a long term contract with Jameer who certainly has a real ceiling, yet you are supporting the move.
How can you trash getting a young starter like Collison, who is essentially an expiring contract if his team doesn't want him. He would be ideal for our team.
Your post doesn't make sense.

3 years, and we don't know if there are any team/player options in there.

You don't kill our cap if you get a core player. You kill it by resigning retreads that don't work and are on the wrong side of thier careers.
