On the season, 26% USG 18% TO 39FG%. He didn't play more than 30 MPG until his 12th game. But I think we should stop throwing Westbrook's name around. He's an anomaly. VO doesn't have the herky-jerky handle that Westbrook has. I see more of a SG. Still, it's early you never know. I'd just like to see him get 30+ MIN every night and see what kind of assists he can rack up.

From a numbers standpoint, it looks like the best comparison might be Jimmy Jackson's rookie season in Dallas 20 years ago.

I really don't think the sink or swim method is the best way to see if a guy will develop. My favorite player development story over the past 10 years was Stan turning JJ into an NBA player by making him accountable for his mistakes and actually forcing him to pay attention on defense rather than only focusing on what JJ was already good at.

I agree, JJ is a good example. I wish I could find this quote of what this guy from San Antonio's board said about building a winning culture, but i do think this is the time to send messages. His point that I agree with was that you could create a spoiled star mentality by not having guys earn things. Guys start thinking they are bigger than the team after years of getting minutes without earning them, and they can get caught in bad habits. He will get his minutes in due time this season.

I think that if Dipo knows that he has to play well it will force him to play better rather than sending a message that he's entitled to make mistakes without any of the reprocussions. What kind of message are you sending by rewarding mistakes? Theres more to it than just "giving him more minutes" he needs to learn that he's no different than anyone else and if he doesnt play withint the system then he'll get benched just like the next guy. I LOVED that Vaugh benched him. He doesn't get a pass...Play better. Same expectations apply to him like they do everyone else on the team.

to me it could be also a double edged sword. Confidence is a big issue for rookies and that is a mental aspect of the game. Some people has said the dipo is thinking too much and not being instinctual. Playing in spurts and getting benched May set him back mentally. Quintessentially every time he makes a mistake he's going to be looking over his shoulder.

While some may think that is a good thing me personally I'm not so sure. I would understand if we were a winning team and he's costing us games but we're not. What's the reason to send a message like that in front of all the cameras and fans who came to see him when you can convey what you need to him in practice?

To each his own, I can respect it if you think another way.

I agree with this FAR more.

if we were the spurs it would be completely different. They are already a playoff team attempting to win so benching a guy for mistakes sounds a little better. You can just let Jameer jack up 25 foot 3's early in the offense but then be mad if Oladipo steals the ball and then dribbles off his foot.

He needs fkn court time and to play through mistakes, not to be put in timeout while Jameer is allowed to make mistake after mistake and continue to see heavier minutes.

Me i decided to wait until next year to go Next Gen, by that time they should get a few of the kinks out and i'll probably end up with a PS4 from a different batch. That's what my friend did last generation at launch he waited a few months and ended up with a better PS3 that was different from the Launch Version.
