Chet is obviously out for the season and won't play a single game.

Jabari is the worst qualified rookie in the NBA according to RAPTOR (-7.4) and the 2nd worst in BPM (-6.8)

Banchero is 2nd in both behind Mathurin.

:o :o :o

2nd in what statistical category? Didn’t understand.

RAPTOR and BPM.

RAPTOR stands for Robust Algorithm Player Tracking On/Off Ratings and is a plus/minus based stat created by Five Thirty Eight (formerly an ESPN owned product, now run by ABC) that measures the number of points a player contributes offensively and defensively per 100 possessions relative to the league average.

BPM stands for Box Plus Minus and is box score based stat used by Basketball Reference to determine a player's impact and contribution based on their traditional box score data (points, rebounds, assists, steals, blocks, 3 pointers, free throws, turnovers, fouls, etc).

Jabari has graded out so far as the worst qualified rookie in RAPTOR and the 2nd worst in BPM.

Paolo has graded out so far as the 2nd best rookie in both metrics behind Mathurin.

Thanking for taking time and explaining it. Appreciate the knowledge.

Listen, not going to lie, Paolo is so good that it really doesn’t matter to me if he wins ROY. You can just see his career projection as long as he stays heathy and keep putting in the hard work.

Yeah ROY has always been the dumbest award. He can have it. I hope no one from this forum starts fighting about it in The General Board.

I don’t think it is a dumb award but I really don’t care if Bennedict wins it. I will say it seems like shooting numbers tend to be the most sensationalized part for fans and media, but Paolo’s contribution to this ball club outside of shooting has been awesome, and I know if he continues to work it will be shown. Not worried about it at all. The only reason I would like him to win it is because Paolo himself said he wants to win it, otherwise, I don’t care.

Even if Paolo stays second in those metrics he will win ROY. He isn’t playing with an established young like Benn is in Haliburton.

Paolo is on pace to have the best scoring rookie season since Iverson & Shaq.

On pace to have the best rookie season since atleast Luka, and you could argue better so far.

Pretty good for a #1 pick in a "down" draft.

It was not a down year, Banchero was clearly generational talent and i was saying it before draft. Chet is also very good prospect for a top 3. No frauds like Wiseman, even Jabari will be useful with his size and shooting.
My money is on Banchero going number 1 !

I expected him to score in the low-20s per game this year. It's his BBIQ that's the most impressive to me (and was the hardest to get a clear idea of by watching college highlights): he makes the right decision with the ball nearly every time. Can't teach that. We still need another star, but we've got one with Banchero.

Yeah, he has been playing like a smart vet right out of the gate which is very rare and really encouraging.

I'm waiting for game 20 to make some declarations, but I hope fans don't underrate or undervalue how good Banchero has been for a rookie. This has far exceeded my expectations. He looks so polished. His ability to read the floor out of pick n' roll or in the post is so advanced. Most vets never get to that level. He's going to get even better. His shooting should get better. Excited for the next 8 years of Orlando Magic basketball. I'm just trying to soak in every game of his rookie season because I think we're in for something special.

What we are seeing with Paolo is rare and special. Let's embrace that. Not many players can come out of the gates and have such an immense effect on the game and make it look easy.

And, incredibly, he's neither a one-dimensional not a one-way player. To have that kind of impact, in all facets and at both ends (bar 3-pt shooting) is waaay out of the ordinary.

The group of players who are total all-rounders who made this kind of early impact is tiny. We're talking LeBron, Jordan, Bird company for him.

Not saying his career will by divine right match theirs but if you extrapolated out his first games into a career it certainly would.

Wow that is a big change. I had looked at the RAPTOR Defensive last week, and Mathurin was like one of the ten worst in the league in Defesnsive Raptor. He must have had a solid week statistically.

Okeke is amongst the worst in defense, actually some weird ones in there, Justin Holiday, Josh Richardson, Tyus Jones is worst. Jakob Poetl is 4th worst in defense. Usually RAPTOR defense skews towards big men and blocks, and everyone loves Poeltls D. I wonder if they tweeked the algorithm this year.

Those free throw numbers are totals. Per game he’s 9th in FTA. The disgusting thing about that is 8 other players in the NBA are drawing more!

As of today 11/8...

Rookie RAPTOR
1. Jake LaRavia +2.9
2. Andrew Nembhard +2.4
3. Paolo Banchero +1.2
4. Tari Eason +1.2
5. Bennedict Mathurin +0.7

Although if you bump the minimum minutes requirements up just a nudge, Banchero moves to No. 1.

Jabari Smith Jr is dead last among rookies at -7.1 :o

For a guy who said he felt slighted by Orlando's process of bringing him in before the draft, Jabari played like a dead fish on the court last night. I expected a little FU attitude and there was zero. Just don't think the guy has it.
