Howard - we won't renounce him so he will count about 19 million towards our cap
Anderson - Thinking we will resign him probably to a contract starting at 9 million a year
JRich - 6 million
Davis - 6 million
Hedo - only counts 6 million
QRich and Duhon are combined 7 million, if QRich doesn't opt out

Combined salary is 53 million.

I think we also resign Redick to a near identical deal of about 6 million a year and we also bring back Nelson for about 4 million a year.

So all in all our goal should be to have Hedo, Redick, Nelson, Howard and Anderson on our books for a total of 44 million. Every one else needs to be moved one way or another. That would leave us with about 16 million or more to spend in the summer of 2013, basically giving us a max player (thinking the Magic target Paul and Ellis before any one else, unless Williams is available too).

duhon can be waived and is only guaranteed $1.5 towards salary, Q has an option..so reduce that 7mil..

No way Hawks trade their best player to their rival. Can't see it happening. But, you never know. Nobody really knew what would happen with Dwight.

This worries me. A lot. Berger's report says that the Magic had these papers drawn up before the team left for San Antonio...BEFORE the team meeting where Dwight apparently said he was staying. It should raise a lot of red flags that Dwight has had these papers for this long and still has not signed them.

Just because Dwight has the papers doesn't mean he will sign them, or ever intended to sign them.

True, but will QRich take the option? I have my doubts, but it seems like every NBA players believes they are always worth more than their contract, even if they are being over paid. I hope he does opt out. That would make our pursuit of another max player even easier.

They don't have much time to make a decision now do they. This is exactly the same scenario Magic had yesterday.

Complete panic mode.

i dont think it will be hard to move jrich and his 2yr $12mil contract at the deadline next year, or sooner..im sure we can make some kind of trade to dump salary..but getting, deron, paul, ellis, smith, iggy or whoever is easily do able, getting 2 of them will be tough

I believe that. Even when CB was reporting about Howard opting in, he sounded sad and confused as to why he would do it, then gave a great explanation as to why he is doing it, but sounded even more sad and confused, LOL!
