It's going to be a curious transition between the Frost/Heupel offensive schemes as well as Chinader vs Shannon and defensive execution.

I think defensively, Ucf will be more disciplined and give up far less big plays .... but maybe not as aggressive as the last two years.

A few things Frost did offensively last year made little sense, but the vast majority of time he found the right play call for the right people at the right time. It will interesting to see if Heupel is able to maintain this or, if the ego takes control and tries to make the Ucf offense something it is not.

Hopefully Heupel has a sound game plan and the team executes very well.

Also, stay healthy as a team.
Basketball is driven by three principles:

1) Movement 2) Application of fundamentals 3) Predictability

Should blow them out honestly. But it's always difficult when a coaching change occurs, and every team will be gunning for us. But this should be an easy win.

I'm so nervous for tonight. This whole season is going to be waiting for a loss so the skeptics can pounce and say "told ya so" - the victory lap has really set us up for a year of only potential downside

Missed the start of the game. UCF is up 14-0 at the moment but they are displaying some of the worst tackling I have ever seen on this drive. The “champs” (lol) better clean that up.

It’s in the record books, no need for quotes.

Also off-topic... gators down 8000+ season tickets even with a new coach. Half the home games this year are exciting (Charleston sourthern, Colorado State, Idaho, Kentucky)

I got a really good seat for the Gators vs Kentucky game 1st row at the 50 yard line on the visitors(Kentucky) bench side. I got it under $100 before any fees. I've been to Gator games before but never sat close to the 50 yard and the 1st row, I can't believe I got a great seat.

UCF'S 4 key games are going to be( At UNC, Vs Pittsburgh, At Memphis, At USF). If we win those 4, We probably finish undefeated in the regular season.

..

UCF is coming off an undefeated season and is bringing back a Heisman-candidate QB, yet ESPN has no path for them in the top-14

ESPN link

Looking at the so-called Playoff predictor, UCF is actual out of the top-20.
ESPN link-2

Given that the Knights is probable to be favored in all 12 regular season matches, and that if they win all, they would also be favored to win the American Athletic Conference championship game, if a 25-win-in-a-row team were left out of the playoffs, I really do not know what to say about that.

Apples to oranges here.

You explained it yourself when you said “American Athletic Conference.”

You can’t discredit UCF for taking care of their business but just the same you can’t discredit other programs for taking care of business in a tougher market. A one or sometimes even two loss SEC, BIG10 or ACC season is vastly superior to an undefeated UCF season. Does that mean UCF was a lesser team? No, not necessarily. We will never know and that is the point.

Move to 8 teams and give an auto-bid for at least one non-Power 5 and end this. Until then, UCF is minor league program not eligible for the playoffs and nor should they be.

A true UCF fan will have higher expectations. False, shortsighted, desperate fans will cry in defense of their “championship.” Use last season as a stepping stone not a false declaration of “mission accomplished.”

Great win. It was like they hit pause after the Peach Bowl and then hit play last night. The offense looked even a bit better I thought as well credit to coach for not trying to come in and make too many changes. Defense could use some work lot of missed tackles but it's a new defense and they did make plays when they were needed and got some takeaways.

Offense looks like it didn't miss a beat. I'm curious to see how it does vs stronger competition like UNC, FAU, Pitt, USF.

The UCF defense is what they need to worry about. It was dreadful last night. They have a lot of energy but couldn’t tackle anything and were out of position in deep coverage a lot. A sound, well coached offense will rip them apart if they don’t clean it up. Hopefully it was just being over anxious for the first game back.

I'm sure Randy Shannon will get things correct.

In other news, I heard UF's season ticket numbers are down 8,000+

I'm excited to see what Taggart and DF do on Monday night. I think we beat Va Tech big.

UConn’s beat writer with a great write up (for us) explaining how they saw the game last night.

Indeed.

Move to 8 teams and give an auto-bid for at least one non-Power 5 and end this.

Note sure about the auto-bid part, but the real problem with a 8-team playoffs is the Bowls themselves. They get seriously diluted. But from a fairness perspective, an 8-team playoff is only 3-games to the Champion.

And, whereas today one can legitimately argue if the 5th or 6th digest ranked team should be in the playoffs, there will not be that argument for the 9th or 10th ranked team.

The argument for even the 5th or 6th team falls off pretty darn quick within the Power 5. They have beaten themselves enough to show separation among the top 4 or so often enough.

The true question is the non-Power 5 when you have a big season like UCF last year or Boise or TCU in years past. How do you compare them to the others? You can’t. It isn’t fair to UCF but wouldn’t be fair to the others to claim their accomplishment were equal.

An 8 team playoff is what I would like but more likely is a 6 team system where the highest ranked non-Power 5 gets an automatic bid should they achieve certain milestones (being ranked, undefeated season and so on). If no such team has a UCF-like year, then you default to 6 teams chosen as usual.

I thought Lane Kiffin was the coach of FIU but its FAU. I didn't realize the season FAU had last year but it does like FAU will be a respectable opponent playing us.
