im assuming their source is woj, aka nets homer...

I know he's a nets homer. That being said, Dwight would need a draft day deal because DWill is leaving the Nets if they don't get Dwight. DWill has also said he wants a quick resolution. I don't buy it but its possible.

Martins was not playing around when he said we would have a gm 7-10 days before the draft. Can't wait for the press conference tomorrow!

Just got off phone w #Magic DOPP @afoyle3131. AF on Rob Hennigan: "We look forward to seeing what direction he plans on taking this team."

David Baumann ‏@DavidBaumann33
I asked Adonal Foyle if he'll stay w #Magic in same role. "I have no idea... Until further notice, there's no reason to think differently."

David Baumann ‏@DavidBaumann33
Adonal Foyle on why wasn't sure if he'll stay in his same role: "We need to give him (Hennigan) time to figure out what he wants to do."

David Baumann ‏@DavidBaumann33
Had a great chat w 49-year vet Bob Foley, who coached #Hennigan to state title w St. John's HS: "He always had great knowledge of the game."

David Baumann ‏@DavidBaumann33
49th-year St. John's HS coach Bob Foley to #Magic fans regarding new GM Rob Hennigan: "You'll love him. He'll do a great job for you."

David Baumann ‏@DavidBaumann33
Bob Foley on new #Magic GM #RobHennigan: "He was always good offensively and defensively, but moreso, with relationships with teammates."

David Baumann ‏@DavidBaumann33
Just talked to an excited, new #Magic GM #RobHennigan, but, nothing on the record until 3 pm Thu. Watch presser live on @BHSN & @CFNews13!

Even without Jameer and J.J, Magic committed salary next year is around 50 million and up to 53 with cap holds. I don't see how Deron is an option.

Imagine this as a summary of the 2012 off-season for the Magic

05/23/2012 - Otis Smith fired
05/23/2012 - Stan Van Gundy relieved of Coaching Positon
06/20/2012 - Rob Hennigan hired as GM
06/28/2012 - Magic draft Kendall Marshall
06/29/2012 - Jameer Nelson opts out of contract
07/01/2012 - Magic do not pick up JJ Redick contract
07/??/2012 - Magic sign Mike Malone as Head Coach
07/??/2012 - Magic sign Deron Williams to multi-year contract

Would be one heck of an off-season in my opinion

well maybe not deron, but the plan would be this offseason, which if we arent getting deron, would be kind of pointless, but whatever, in rob i trust

its close, but i dont think its a max. we would have to renounce ryan, ish, and liggins, trade q or duhon with harper, and have earl opt out. i think that gets us to 14 million, which is still not a max deal, but it is close

Trading J-Rich...good luck with that. The Magic would have to dangle an unprotected 2013 first rounder to dump his salary. That would be quite the risk.

Stretching Davis....I don't think the stretch provision is in place yet, I could be wrong. But even then it only shaves off 3 million.

Waive Anderson....Yea, I didn't include Anderson in my calculations.

Imagine this as a summary of the 2012 offseason for Orlando

05/23/2012 - Otis Smith fired as GM and POBO
05/23/2012 - Stan Van Gundy relieved of coaching duties
06/20/2012 - Rob Hennigan hired as GM
06/28/2012 - Magic draft Austin Rivers
06/29/2012 - Jameer Nelson opts out of final year
07/01/2012 - Magic decline to pick up option on JJ Redick
07/01/2012 - Magic sign James Harden to multi year deal
07/09/2012 - Magic sign Deron Williams to multi year deal
07/19/2012 - Magic sign Mike Malone as Head Coach
07/22/2012 - Magic trade Jason Richardson to Minnesota for Darko Milicic & 2nd Round Pick

Would be a heck of an offseason in my opinion

Now just hope that the events from 06/28/2012 happen that way

We arent getting deron no matter what people want to think, BUT, i could see us making a serious run at Goran Dragic. Hennigan was in san antonio during the 06 and 07 seasons so was likely part of the scouting done on dragic before they drafted him.

Dragic likely wont ever be on Derons level, but hes still one of the better young PGs and can probably be had at a good price and would give us a true play making PG, something we havent had since alston, and look what happened when we had him starting.

Not really sure how realistic it is, but would be pretty happy if we were able to steal him away from the rockets

Dragic aint bad. not as splashy a name as many would like, but he could do a decent job running the point. only problem would be committing a long term deal to him and compromising our cap next summer.

nice work finding the Henningan/Dragic link.
