Re: Official Speculation Thread (Pt. XLIII Off-Season Editio
Why would we want Afflalo?
He makes more than J-Rich and JJ with a 4 year deal, while only putting up JJ like numbers for his career.

Yeh, but Afflalo has a lot of upside I think (and it was stated Magic brass think so too?) if given the role to be primary guard scorer on a team? Denver had way too many guys sharing the ball, which is why his numbers weren't as good as they prob couldn't been.
And JJ can't do all this:

Official Speculation Thread (Pt. XLIII Off-Season Edition)
Tony Mejia @TonyMejiaNBA
Only 2 weeks left til Motiejunas is tradeable. I'd be shocked if Lakers/Magic pull trigger on move where neither really gets what they want.
I hope he means Lamb.....
Not changing this Sig until the Orlando Magic win a championship (Technically Started 1-30-08)

It says we would get cap space and assets, so that would "justify" getting what we want, I guess.

He's a good player, but he's not worth Dwight and has a huge contract.

Gasol is on the fast decline to me. He was a non-factor in this years playoffs.

No way..he is still a valuable, versatile player (see the Olympics) who can be a positive asset on a playoff team. It just doesn't make sense to have him as your #1 guy.

If we WERE to get Gasol, doesn't anybody think that perhaps Houston would be interested in pairing him next to Asik so they can have 2 legit big men (Mchale would LOVE a guy as smooth as Pau I am sure)? Maybe something like D-Mo + Parsons + 1 of the 3 rookies + draft pick for Pau?

I feel bad for the Magic, if they are trying to get Gasol to conquer Fran Vasquez.

I think this is bluffing to get Houston to up its offer.
Also, I don't think it will work.
