With 30 teams in the league, the best 150 should be at a starters quality (30 X 5), and assuming a ten-man rotation, players 151-300 should be back-up quality. As Jameer, Jonathan, and Arron will be in the top 150, this means that this website projects Orlando to have five NBA starters at the PG, SG, SG, PF, and PF slots. There are quality backups at the SF, SF, C and C slots.

ESPN project Orlando to have quality and depth for a nine-man rotation. I don't think any of us would place Smith below 400 (a threshold where said player is marginal to be in the league at all).

From ESPN:
With Howard out of Orlando and not much else in the frontcourt, we might get to see a career season from him this year

How can this be true and Davis' ranking decline from last year? For me Davis is near certain to be a top 20 PF in the league this year, which places him around 90-110. But there you go.

@Pace_O11 in atl bro. Going to training camp with Orlando. You good?

Jones is a pretty athletic player. Good pick up if he makes the team.

This is really flawed logic. For argument's sake, if players 1-30 are all PGs and you are player 35 and a PG, you aren't starter quality. If you are player 35 and you are a C, then you are suddenly the best C in the league and probably more valuable than PG #28 even if he is rated higher. But that isn't the real point is it? The thing you should pay attention to is the score. Since the writers (not just ESPN) rated everyone on a scale from 0-10, anything below a 5 should be considered below average. Since Big Baby is rated 141 but only a 4.9, this means that a lot of teams are forced to start below average players.

Pointing out that none of us would rate Smith below a 400 kind of says that you are overrating Smith, since A) the national consensus seems to be that he is a marginal talent and B) that there wasn't really a huge (or any) market for him in the off season.

Using the quote from Baldur Halldorsson (not ESPN at all, actually lives in Denmark) as support for the "ESPN is underrating Davis" argument is also wrong. The found a quote at random from twitter and used it. Obviously the other 100+ people to rate Davis weren't quite as high on his potential to break out this season. This is pretty sad when you consider that he might play 35 mins per night and have the green light to shoot at will. Simply put, his rating declined from last year because people are less confident in his potential after another sub-par season.

Do guys mind checking out my Rob Hennigan Transaction Thread and tell me if I'm missing anything important transactions from the last month?

viewtopic.php?f=25&t=1203233

Note that I left out coaching staff hires b/c I feel like that is more on the coach than the GM.

Thanks!

Hey Arsenal,

Vaughn & Rob said they'd work together to hire the coaching staff. I wouldn't see a problem with adding those hires in his list of transactions.

Oh I wasn't aware of that. In that case, I'll add it to the list. So what's the deal with Mark Price, is he still part of the organization?

I was told through #nba sources The #magic will not retain Mark Price as an assistant head coach.
